MH17: A Victim of War (Malaysian Airlines Flight 17)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 мар 2022
- Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine in 2014. It became victim of an armed conflict that evolved into war now, eight years later. The Boeing 777 was most probably hit by a missile. Russia's involvement is all but certain.

Anytime civilian aircraft are brought down, it is a tragedy. Especially so in situations like this one. Thank you for telling the story of this flight. Wars cost and cause such suffering, the costs to invaders must outweigh the benefits for such things to end. @@asdf3568 What people?
I remember this incident. Can't think of the pilots and the people how they felt at that time. So horrible. You explained it so well. Thank you for your videos!
Flight crew had shrapnel from preformed shrapnel of a Russian anti-air missile. Recovered wreckage included bits identified to the local military escorts as ‘AC parts’ but were actually from an AA missile. The missile parts were deliberately mis-identified to the local (Russian?) escorts as the investigators would probably not be allowed to recover incriminating evidence.
Who told you investigators were restricted?
White fxking plane = Russian aircraft. The plane was heading from west to east. Its so stupid
@@greggstrasser5791 Didn't you listen to the calls on the day of the incident? They (Military) didn't let investigators enter the scene until it got cleared from possible 'enemy contact' since that was the reason they shot missile at them. i think that was the reason
@@farizdinnie7084
Step 1: Secure the area.
The investigators took months to get to the crash site when journalists had no problems going there. And even after the investigators had been there journalists found additional wreckage and personal belongings to the victims. Goes to show what kind of investigation it was. One where the conclusion was already drawn up beforehand.
I remember seeing woman crying upon heard MH17 news, & said

Thank you for covering this tragic incident. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that nothing similar happens during the current conflict in Ukraine.
The airspace is closed now. It should have been when MH17 was shot down but Ukraine didn't do it.
It's not a conflict, Kristina - it's a BRUTAL, MERCILESS WAR initiated by a country with a crazy KGB rat at the wheel. Watch this video where a Russian soldier is interviewed in Ukraine to understand more: ruclips.net/video/KPh7VDM11is/видео.html

Extremely well done video, very impressed.
Who was the genius who thought it was a good idea to fly commercial passenger jets over a war zone?
Financial interests
Well it happens all the time. I mean I've flown over a war zone at least 3 times in my life time. Because they never target commercial planes while this was just a war crime.
The commercial plane is a white arse plane with red and blue lining across the plane's body.

@@kanzai12 Its not badly target if they have the missile perfect positioned to explode near the cockpit (did not hit but the splash damage hits the cockpit) they had it lock for a while and they mis identified them as so called 'Russian Aircraft'.

Unfortunately this isn't "unthinkable". The US has shot down Iranian passenger plane. Iran shot down a Ukrainian airliner. Awful tragedies probably due to human error, lack of safety controls and modern weapon systems that can kill without seeing the target. 😭

Really interresting
This was so hard to watch😭 i had a classmate that died on this flight, where is the justice 😭where?
This video perfectly matches with what could happen again
It's hard to determine who's firing since both sides use the same missile however I'm curious which genius letting mh17 fly pass that dangerous airspace.
To be fair, flying through conflicts with only one side having air power is common. Lots of flights fly over Iraq and Syria. Before it was the airlines responsibility as to whether they wanted routes to pass over conflict zones. Other airlines chose not to fly over Donbas, but Malaysia, Air India, and others continued to fly routes. So to answer you’re question, that responsibility fell on Malaysian Airlines
The aircraft got shot down on its first flight day.
That would be like a baby taking first steps day.
Putin needs to be brought to justice
Good video.
I'm from malaysia n heard some people saying that they deserve the attack from russia because of this incident...
I was like "bruh u cant just blame the whole country for some people mistake", what happen to MH17 is really tragic but so is the war they are facing currently, many innocent people's life has been ruined because of it. If someone did a bad thing, he/she is the only one that should be count accountable for the action, not the whole family. My hearts goes to every victim that suffer from any kind of horrible event.
Honestly this fell more on Malaysian Airlines for continuing their routes along Donbas. Countries are not responsible for their airspace unless there’s a large air war going on. Plenty of civilian airliners and cargo flights flew over Iraq and Syria
@@thedesertrat_9514 i dont really know about aviation n war so yea maybe its our mistake for being careless, well i dont want to blame anyone though. lets just make this incident as something we can prevent from happening again 😌

Sad that history repeated itself, same sort of thing happened with Lusitania where it was downed.
1:14 inconsistency between subtitles and audio (1997 vs 1999)
1997 is correct
I got confused when i heard "no aa weapon can reach the crusing alt of the aircraft" because if i remember (dunno if it's real or fake) the soviets shot down a U2 at 70.000 alt
missiles can even reach low earth orbit satellites today.
in 30k ft you are safe against stinger missiles or manpads, but not against heavy anti aircraft systems
@@simonm1447 that's terrifying
Oh no that was a real incident. Happened in 1960. Prior to, the Soviets did not have a weapon capable of flying high enough to reach the U2. Eventually their Surface to Air capabilities got better and the Soviets developed the S-75 Dvina which could shoot down at a max altitude of 82,000 ft
The report from the Dutch Joint Investigation Team really demonstrates the incredible extent to which they went to prove that this plane was shot down by a Buk surface-to-air missile. From reconstructing the strike in 3D, precisely locating the missile outside the aircraft, measuring the time difference from various microphones picking up the explosion, analyzing the shrapnel recovered from the pilots bodies, and more. There is absolutely *no doubt* that this is what happened, and any claims of the contrary are either uninformed or just plain Russian disinformation.
If you're interested in learning more, I would highly recommend checking it out. Look up "debcd724fe7breport_mh17_crash" and you'll find the PDF directly.
It's also worth mentioning the contributions from the open-source intelligence group Bellingcat in this investigation. They helped a lot with geotagging photos and videos of the Buk launcher, and made it possible to track its movements in the days before and after the shoot down - search for "The Open Source Investigation Three Years Later" to see what they managed to find out. They do amazing work, not just in this case.
The investigation, instead of an investigation, was engaged in falsification, on May 24, 2018, at a press conference, the investigation showed parts of a rocket that never flew or exploded and claimed that this rocket may have shot down MN-17 - this is real insanity.

So Malaysia Airlines removed the 777s from their fleet
one question what happened to the 100+ pilots who were flying the 777s after they probably heard the news the 777s are being removed from Malaysia so did all the other pilots flying the 777 go to a another airline with 777s ?
Some might have gone to work for other airlines, many probably would have been transferred to training operations for the a330, as it was the replacement for Malaysia's 777s
Many of them went to Middle East airlines which have a large fleet of 777s. Some retired, some converted to other planes in the fleet

They shipped the launcher into Ukraine and then hid it in Russia again it's pretty obvious it was a false flag and they were trying to blame Ukraine. Probably wanted an excuse to invade back then when they were still weak.
It's likely they didn't properly identify their target. There were broadcasts on Russian news claiming separatists shot down a Ukrainian military aircraft, which is likely what the rebels mistook the 777 for.

Didn't Jet airliner come from West? Why would Ukrainian Air defense target the plane that's coming from safe zone of their own airspace? Did Ukrainian fighter jet go over hostile Seperatist controlled area and attack it from front? Seperatists had so many AA's and shot down so many Ukranian jets and helis that Ukraine halted all its extensive air operations and limited it to only low flying helicopter attacks.
karma is back.. ukrain n russia must responsible on this.
RUSSIA is responsible for this.
Let’s face it, if it wasn’t a Malaysia Airlines 777, but instead a British Airways or Air France one, Russia would have directly initiated World War III. They targeted Flight 17 knowing it was being operated by the flag carrier of a nation that did not have the political backing to actually fight back. Those separatists had 160 choices of which aircraft to shoot down that day, and they CHOSE to shoot down an aircraft that would allow them to essentially get away with murder. The Russians blatant and obvious lies after the fact, their tampering with the wreckage and the fact they didn’t allow investigators on site for months after the fact is particularly despicable.
This crash has made my blood boil ever since it happened, and the fact that it led to a very safe airline retiring a perfectly good aircraft type with plenty of life left in it, based on nothing but nonsense superstition just twists the knife further.
It’s hard to believe that a sophisticated anti aircraft missile system can’t identify a civilian airliner when every smartphone can have an app showing all their information. Total incompetence by the aa operator or a deliberate strike.
The Buk system used doesn’t have a sophisticated system to identify civilian aircraft, but their advanced enough to counter military aircraft, smart bombs, and cruise missiles. It’s up to the operator to identify the type of aircraft. Unfortunately, they listed it as an unknown aircraft and thought it was a Ukrainian Military transport. Sometimes, weapons aren’t created to add protection against civilian targets. Militaries want them to be as cheap and affordable as possible

cant say so. Take somalia's airspace for example, theres a fcking bloody civil war going on there, but the airspace is still opened for everyone cause none of the sides are armed with SAM missles. The very first day in donbass didnt involve with planes and missles, so they thought it was still safe for airliners...

There's no safe altitude when you're fighting Russia.
The criminals, because that's exactly what they are, responsible for clearing/using a flightpath (airlines included) over a warzone where not one but two planes were shot down before, should be in jail and their money should go to the families. This is comon sense. Personaly, I believe a resigantion of a gevernment official is in order as well.
Totally agree that Airlines have a duty of care to their PAX (is that `Airspeak` for a package?) and should take Political and Conflict issues into account when planning routes rather than trying to save FUEL! - Human Lives are MORE valuable than Jet-Juice.
