The reason why the game itself was bad, in terms of gameplay and story itself, was because the director himself (whose name was mentioned in 5:49) have no experience in directing the developers to make the game, yet wanted to try something so big that it ultimately failed. The story was blatantly similar to Metal Gear Solid 5 too. It was too similar that anyone who was a fan of the Metal Gear series pointed this out, including the voice actors. I remember watching a video of HDTF's developers talking about how bad the state of the game was before the game was released and how it should not be shipped out to the store yet. There's even some controversy behind the development of the game too, which is the director came up with the idea of making this game to land his job opportunity at Blizzard Entertainment. The funny thing about the whole thing is how the director responded. The director can't accept the fact that his game is utter trash, gets upset when people make fun of the game, going as far to ban anyone who criticized the game from their forum. After the whole mess he have caused and left behind the director was never heard again. As for why it's still a broken mess was due to the fact the developers themselves were not paid by the director of the game so they refuse the fix the game and instead making fun of it.
Pyrocynical and ColossalIsCrazy, who are the voice actors in the game, have said in the TBH podcast that despite Berkan, the director, seemed to have no clue about how to direct everyone, did not throw people under the bus once the reviews came out. The direction for the VA seemed...directionless because he feared the plot would be leaked and so he did not give clear cut context so the VA had to do guess work most of the time. I can imagine the same with the game development. Colossal did not received any payment, despite at the beginning was promised a 5%(?) cut of the game's revenue, while Pyrocynical just refuses the money, thinking it's gonna be a shit show and knew he's gonna make a review of it, so taking money then talking smack about the game felt like a backstab. They do move their mouths though. (In Opposing Force)
One person told us something important, UNINSTALLING

excellent video, i'm glad the HDTF Wiki proved to be useful in terms of finding out about the extra builds despite it being WIP; not to mention disclosing that there are multiple different builds, especially the OWF Build considering that is one that is currently being worked on and making decent strides in updating and upgrading the game
One question: do you think HDTF will have a SEX update?
@@Nahobussyino imagine if Mitchell gets a FULLY MODELED attachment, lol
@@HDTFCentral YESSS
I like how there is a Kar 98k rifle in this game for some reason. It just seems so out of place with the other weapons.
the game actually looks like it has a good storyline, but if the devs started working on it again to patch it up it would be actuall a great game.

It's strange that you haven't heard of Alyx
Freeman does appears in the game twice his firts apperance is in where u are in a tunnel and after a a few minutes of walk U come accros a hole above u and then freeman drives torught the hole with a buggy the second one is when U die at the last stand you meet with freeman
2 billion polygons for the same game where it takes a year to climb pipes
I heard that Berkaan (or what is his name) said that the member supposed to upload the game to steam mistakenly uploaded a poor experimental version and that it is completely different from what their final product. something like this, and they didn't realize it until they watched streams in twitch and saw something completely different from what their final product. that's what the leader of the project said so idk, also a lot of people accused and wanted them to be pursued for stealing assets but turned out it was false accusation. and don't forget those (like I hate everything) who blamed and put all hate on the developer after they actually appeared in the game credits.
I think hunt down the Freeman is a seven hour war game
Gotta correct you: Freeman does actually appear in the current build, at the end of Ravenholm part.
I don't see anyone mention one of the two endings. Not only does Freeman appear, but SEVERAL FREEMEN appear in the "bad" ending. Unless they removed that ending from the latest build.
As the Multiplayer Lead and Senior Technical Artist for HDTF, I honestly appreciate your feedback and it gave me a few critiques to improve on moving forward

2:30 I see what you mean. It feels like one of those liminal spaces photos
I mean, The Community knows that this is the worst Half-Life game along side with HL: Source
I disagree with all the HL:S hate. It a direct port from GoldSource with no real checks, but I’ve a lot of fun with how wonky the whole thing is. Disappointing from the perspective from what was expected? Yes. But it’s nowhere near the level of be that HDTF is.
@@Memoquin I can Respect that Dude.
If you have fun with the game, That's all it ever at the end of the day.
4:26 I swear, the misspelling of "Mechanics" as "Mekanix" sounds like some company name lol
Now that I said it, I bet there will be some company that will use that name that I mentioned
If hunt down the Freeman does improve,I'll think it will be given a mixed rating.
If they ever manage to fix HDTF I'm pretty sure it will be humanity greatest achievement since the moon landing in 1969
12:00 I just laughed so hard I accidentally woke the neighbor 😂
2:26 but i think there's a reason for it and thats because if you know the intro screen of the game at 3:28. Well futher into last level if you died there you will seen a cutscene where Adrian Sepherd (the one as main protagonist in Opposing Force) appeared there.
President KeemStar’s speech should’ve been the infamous “Alex is a silly person” rant.
They could’ve had an introductory cutscene but I think after that the game should’ve had all cutscenes in game.
If they really wanted to include cutscenes, they should have done something like HL2 where you still have limited control over your character.
All the cons aside , props to the developer for making the game despite consist of large cons , they can improve over time in the future
"But anyways... bye!"
I love how this always sudden and unpredictable
Instead of actually fixing the mod, they just got extremely meta about it.
They did make improvements
I should mention that This game has some stolen models from left 4 dead and stolen animations from other games, and some of the developers were not even payed. Wow, how shocking.
I don't even know how many people meantion this, but again the stolen assets thing is already solved. Valve actually allows to any content creator for source games access to the assets and such to be used in other games, as for animations none of them have been stolen the have been created from the ground.
While the developers not getting payed is true, the "stolen assets" has been debunked for almost 5 years now. Assets from left 4 dead and other valve games weren't stolen, valve gave permission for hdtf to use their assets.
@@nickybee6878 Thanks for the information, I don’t know if I was 100% correct but I know this game does have some stolen assets and didn’t even credit the original creator. I heard some animations were stolen, but again I don’t know if I’m 100% correct.
@@RedReimu always glad to help. Also yeah i heard that a lot from other people about the animations that have been stolen from left 4 dead or payday 2 or whatever else but in fact i learn 2 years ago there have been fully made by two of the animators of team nothing has been stolen
I don't know if Half Life Source Is worst than HDTF
Ah yes, HDTF,
“You f**cked up my face!”
(I feel like HDTF is a fanfic)
1:45 Half Life Alyx is a Valve game with 67.3GB size.
12:32 Freeman does appears at the end of ravenholm map lmao, but that's the only time you see him.
13:29 I played the game on hard difficulty and I had to switch to god mode in order finish the factory level in Act 2.
Well made video btw.
At least Half-Life Alyx doesn't have 40+ GB of SFM footage.
bro i know why its take almost 40gb its because the cutsene its take 99.99999999999999999% space
5:44 is an unintentionally creepy liminal space, because it is so without purpouse
Stalker shadow of Chernobyl takes place in the zone Mekraine, a slavic country and HDTF takes place in the same country as half life 2, bulgaria, another slav country, so i wont be suprised if a zaz from the soviet era that appears in post soviet ukraine where stalker takes place still exists in the future bulgaria where hl2 and parts of hdtf takes place
the achievement of this game when you started it should just be called "fucked up my face"
@LamWarp.. NAH THERE'S NOW LAMWARP SCAM COMMENTS
5 years later and people are still making videos on it?
That's how you know a game is g̶o̶o̶d̶ memorable.

It's just so memorable and deserves it's hate

I really enjoy this channel whenever it post a vid, keep up the great work!

@@LamWarp thanks!
7:32 why do they give you control just so you can stand still for a minute? This would make some sense if all the cutscenes were playable like Half-Life, but they aren’t!
It's been a year since this game sucks.
You can understand it's MESA Build because map names includes "_mesa" in the name. Edited ones of the maps.
The fact that this video came out an hour ago and it still has tons of comments
7:56 Stand on what the floor. Peak level editing.
This build is the old build, the new build is the OWF build that remove some maps and rework the weapons
You fucked up my face. I literally shat and cried at that moment. 100/10, would recommend and buy 2 times.
Hi, LamWarp! Good to see you again!
5:36 still looks a heck of a lot better than pokemon scarlet and violet
funny that you mention the whole not fixing it thing, because believe it or not, there’s a dev team that’s currently trying to fix and polish the game. apparently you can try these dev builds in a beta branch.
12:15
Actually
thats not true
the april fool update did make changes, most notably is like harf of the entire game map is just gone because they people complained about it beirg bad, which make certain cutscone extremely jarring because one moment youre in a hospital, the next, you're in a desert with no apparent explanation
It also made every open world map have extremely obviuos trail on where you're supposed to go
At least it isnt forespoken, what its 90-100gb jesus christ, what the hell kinda alien computer do you gotta have to store that crap not even mentioning performance
2:42 that applies to the og hl of too
Don't save while on a vehicle , If you load a Save file (With Vehicle) It crashes your game
30 seconds after I bought this game, I refunded it because it was 40 gb. Ik I should have read the description to see how much space it has, but I've not seen any source engine game with this amount of space required
Half life alyx takes up 60 GB and that’s just the same amount as it is when you download it
@LamWarp... nice try…

I hope HDTF Are Fixed amd no frikn much cutscene like the other games do and if you (devs)wanna fixed the game you should start cutting long map and put enemies on it so its get the adventure like hl 2 ,Make the instruction just like EZ2 like when you spotted new obstacles random text with instruction appear
i still love the fact that Keemstar is the VA of the US president
What the hell, this was a good video, RUclips didn't recommend it to me when you put it up.. shame on them

I don't agree. I have more than 120 hours in game. I love characters, cutscenes, and animations. I like Mitchell much more than Gordon freeman.
One thing I REALLY hate about this mod: the HECU, part of the USMC, uses ACU (shitty US Army camo) and the blue HECU camo is so bad.
