- Here is a haunting performance of Rachmaninov's setting of "We Hymn Thee," with a strong Bb1 from oktavists Nikolay Sharapov, Vadim Zaripov, Kostantin Medvedev, and Vladimir Semechev on the penultimate chord.

I sit here 1+ years into a military conflict in the Ukraine rooted in aggression started many years before that and from beyond Ukraine’s borders. If the combatants on all sides had the chance to absorb the beauty of music such as this, perhaps they would refuse to be driven by the people exploiting them.

I was healed by the beautiful sound of the chorus. People all of the world want to be healed.
Another example of Rachmaninov's beautiful heaven sent writing. The few dressed in black cassocks also give its fine religious atmosphere.

What an astoundingly beautiful piece. The male voices, specifically the baritones, vibrate and blend beautifully with the melody.
The deeper version of Baritones: Basso profundo's or oktavists as they are called in the Russian musical spectrum.

I don't think I ever saw a conductor so expressive in his movements . He is gently shepherding the sound of the choir's voices ; or maybe I don't always pay attention .

I prefer the Kovcheg Emsemble's version personally. This feels a little slow and misses some of the most beautiful harmonies in the mix.
