Loving my MSI Titan 18. I’ve always loved ridiculous DTR laptops
Matthew please ban those bots
They make me feel special
The porn bots? Yeah, they're obnoxious.
RUclips: 🙈
@@MatthewMoniz I just ordered the ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) 16" OLED 240Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - 16GB LPDDR5X - GeForce RTX 4070 - 1TB SSD - Eclipse Gray which cost $1699.99 thinks to the sale at best buy. Should I keep that when it arrives or should I return and get the lenovo yoga pro 9i from bestbuy when it's available or should I go with the g14 with 4060, or the LG gram from your daily carry video? I can't afford more than $1699.99.
@MatthewMoniz between all of these which one would u daily drive and recommend. I'm not really looking for gaming laptop but if it had the ability to game I Amy once in awhile play. Mainly asking cause having hard time deciding between the spectre 14 and the asus g14 with 4060. Which one is the better laptop?
A few days ago I upgraded to the Huawei Matebook D 16, 2024 edition (more specifically I got the 1TB/16GB with Core i5 13th gen. version). I’ve only _played_ around with it so far - updating, uninstalling bloatware, customizing the desktop, etc. - but I can already tell using it is gonna be an absolute blast and I wholeheartedly recommend it….and Huawei Matebooks in general too (I’ve had other ones before, and **imo** they’re really great machines). 💕
What did you think of the LG gram pro.
I have a 2018 gram, loved it, mostly for weight. Upgrading and want to keep lightweight with a similar larger screen.
I've been monitoring the G14 since 2020, and not being able to upgrade the components has always left me divided. I am looking forward to the next iteration and review of the OLED screen as time goes by.
I think as long as you get sufficient RAM and storage it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure what your use case is, but for most individuals 32GB RAM and 1TB storage should be enough for a long while.
Alternatively, I've been looking at the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14", and would like to know your thoughts on that laptop. The G14 and the Legion seems to be competitors.
@@ctrl_x1770 I think the components are sufficient from a Software Engineer's pov. It even covers the specs required for machine learning, but technology seems to be advancing by the minute and you never can tell when you'd need more power coupled with the fact that when a component acts out the ease of replacement is lost on the G14. The Legion on the other hand is a great bargain, they say it feels cheap, I say it looks rugged and it even bests the G14 in some benchmarks with an option to upgrade its components, granted the G14 has a premium feel to it but it's not something you'll notice when you're engrossed with whatever you're doing. The only deal breaker for me on the Legion is the keyboard, I can only imagine how uncomfortable it will be when I start coding at a stretch.
Dude just go for it, if you REALLY need upgradability get the older version on a huge sale, or if you apprentice the look and portability more just get the sleek new one.
You won't be disappointed either way.
If you want an upgradeable and repairable laptop, consider the Framework 13 or 16 laptops! Completely repairable. Every part is individually replaceable should you need to fix it!
@@KP-np1ps I really like them, I would get teh 13 if I didn't need a Dgpu in a second, but the 16 is way too bulky.
My experience with windows laptops are that the laptop batteries don’t last the same amount as what the reviewers claim… for example the Asus Zenbook 9-10 hours of use? More like 4-5 hours of productivity use and the battery is gone. On the other hand, the MacBook can easily last me through the day… (I’m not an Apple fanboy)
The problem with apple is it would be perfect if it had more third party support and the ability download windows os, theres no reason for it to be locked on mac os
That's mostly because of ARM chipsets that macbooks offer, production of ARM processors for windows is in progress, once integrated with windows laptops, they too will also provide almost same amount of battery backup as macbooks
Would love to see your review of the Galaxy book 4 series (Pro and Ultra) !!
Thought on asus zenbook 14 OLED
Already got the HP Spectre 16" with 2 TB. Really happy. Love the keyboard. 😊 Just not much happy with "no full sized SD card slot".
2024 model?
Intel arc graphics or dedicated gpu?
How is the battery life?
Hi Matthew, thanks a lot for all your great reviews as always. I never miss your contents. I am from New York City. I got the HP Spectre X360 16" with IPS, 16 GB and 2 TB in $1400 when the deal was on. Not sure if it's still there. Ordered the pen and a rechargeable mouse as well. This one is enough for my work. I needed a good 16" laptop for a lot of typing. Great keyboard without numpad, good speaker, good webcam and good enough screen. 32 GB would be nice to have...and also wanted the Space Blue...but then I had to go for RTX 4050 and OLED. I consciously avoided those two to get more battery when I am outside. I am not a gamer, nor a pro content creator. The IPS on HP is good enough for my use case.
Battery life is good so far in my use case. Yet to try it's highest potential.
Nice video. I just got MSI Stealth 16 Studio with 4070 for £950 (£1100 - £150 cashback). I think it`s a great laptop for the price.
Matthew, please review Dell XPS 16. Still waiting for that review from you.
Will you please review the samsung galaxy book 4 pro non 360. Looking at the 14 inch.
As a future Mech Eng. student, what would you suggest if I have no budget at all?
Looking at the Asus Zenbook 14 oled (UX3405) and the M3 Macbook Air. Which would you recommend? Super tough first world problem.
I think it depends on you, if you have other apple devices go with mac, if no buy zenbook. I also was questioning same decision between those two and ended up with zenbook.
Any thoughts on thermals on the G14? That's the only question stopping me from the G14
You can look at just josh for the thermal, I would say it's fine. Battery life is so long I'm sure it would offset everything else
What do you think about the yoga pro 9i gen9 (2024)? I heard some people prefer it over regular gaming Notebooks because its more silent and has a mini led panel for around 2200-2500 euro. Thbak you
This is the one I have my eye on as my XPS replacement. It just checks so many boxes for personal, professional, and gaming.
Have been using the HP Spectre x360 13.5inch for 3 years now. And I absolutely love it!
Thinking of upgrading to the 2024 edition but not sure cause the old one is still running strong 💪
If you're happy then wait it will be even more special when it's actually needed
Asus TUF F15 the ultimate budget has never failed 💀💀
Why can I not find the G14 with RTX 4070?
Does the Zephyrus G14 also have that constant third fan noise or is it just with intel G16(without vapor chamber)?
I agree
G14 has always been quiet mate atleast for my 2022 models. Unless I game, the fan barely kicks in. Been using it for 1 year ish now and there's barely any dust in the fan because it never kicks up.
@@Yayaloy9 which model do you have?
@@Yayaloy9 I have the exact opposite experience with mine (2021). Just browsing the web or writing in word, the fans kick in and I am at 80°C. As soon as I do anything more demanding, the CPU is up to 95. But besides that, It has been awesome though.
Hey Matthew, is spectre 14' 2024 good enough for editing reels with a lot of effects? Or should i go with macbook pro's?
You know there is no competition with Mac’s intel laptops are more crap! Research you will find out
Hii what is ur opinion on Dell XPS 13 pluss ( office use)
Can you also review the new samsung galaxy book laptops?
Personally, my favorite laptop for 2024 is Honor Magicbook Pro 16 with RTX4060 first ever windows spatial audio!
Tx Matthew that's a nice one
Is the Zephyrus G14/G16 a good birthday present for a high school student? I'm running out of ideas.
It's a fantastic present.
Damn wish I was that student
@@houssamalucad753 want to be my nephew?
Hey, it’s me, your student.
Did he like it?
Thought I was going to get an ASUS ROG G16, but didn’t know when they were going to come out. Instead got a 2023 Blade 16 with a 4070 and the mini-LED screen on sale for $2500, couldn’t be happier.
I bought asus g16 (4060) after watching your video.
IT' was AWESOME!!
I can use it anyware
What's the battery life like? Is it cold enough to use on your lap?
It’s noisy why not say that also their OLED is bad and not accurate let’s not miss lead
Which g16? Strix?
@@boracakroglu8803 gurl how dense , the video talked about the zphyrus
@@RUclipsUniverse Its not that loud, and I never had any issues with the oled screen. Not sure what you are talking about
Matthew, what do u think about Brand New MSI STEALTH 16 2024?
I need to get a new one (mostly for 3D modeling and rendering) and I was looking at the stealth 16 as well! They seems pretty similar:
the MSI has got an upgradable RAM, but on the other hand the G 16 is equipped with a 4080. I really don’t know which one I should choose cause at the same time none of them is equipped with a SD port, not that big of a deal but at the same time so stupid!
@@giacomogalli7055 MSI STEALTH 16 is also available with rtx 4080 and 4090 :)
The Zephyrus G16 with 4080 one cost 3400$ in my country, still worth it??
na wait for a discount or find something else
I’m worried nobody is talking about Intel Arc’s flaws in the new Core Ultra CPU’s. Especially the new Spectre laptops are terrible… The lack of higher than 8-bit support over USB-C/DP, the incredibly loud fans on idle and above all the laggy Windows 11 interface due to bad Arc drivers and no ETA from Intel or HP when or even IF they’re going to fix it :(
Whats a good laptop for video editing that has a lot of battery life? I use davinci resolve currently
MacBook Pro 16 or 14. You'll get the best battery life and full performance when on Battery.
@@MatthewMonizI am currently on a budget, do you think an M1 pro would outperform an m3 air? Thanks!
Yes the M1 Pro is faster than the M3 Air. I did a video on teh M3 Air and show performance against the M1 Pro@@seanvideoediting ruclips.net/video/-0O1CyOksZo/видео.html
@@MatthewMoniz Thank you!
Seems u like Asus zephyrus 16 ROG, I'll buy it.
Spectre 14" or Air 15"? I can't decide. I mostly do office work.
Specter is a better laptop, right now is on sale in Best Buy. But I mean, for office work, either one is fine. But on sale the specter 16gb ram and 1 tb is on 1.300 wich is a better price
Macbook Air for battery life and a bigger screen (15" M3 version), better speakers. I hate that MacOS MS Office doesn't give you MS Access, otherwise I'd be all mac since I need Access for work and don't want to bother with Parallels every time. So for me, I'll be getting Spectre 14 or the upcoming Lenovo ThnkBook 13x Gen 4 - beautiful design and the fastest Ultra 9 processor.
The 4080 Zephyrus G16 isnt avalible in canada anymore
Great video. not sure if you mentioned but for the next MacBook Pro when it comes out would you still go with a 16 inch or 14icnh?
16 I can't do 14 for editing video or playing games.if it's just like general browser type stuff I'd rock a 14
@@MatthewMoniz oh ok thanks for letting me know.
14 inch is much better for portability ! When you are at home or office, just connect it to 32 inches monitor and then you have big screen for gaming & productivity !
Matthew, are there any good and balanced laptop with good gpu under 1000 dollars ?
Yes lots of models from last year
@@MatthewMoniz can you suggest me the best overall laptop
@@aceofspartons57792023 g14 with 4060 is on sale for $999 at Best Buy. Upgradeable ram.
I love the Spectre, it's esthetic has always been my favorite and it gets better and better but no GPU is always why I don't buy it. I want it to be my all in one, it just can't be and it makes me sad.
But with the new chip, the GPU got a lot better! Maybe you should check it out. I bought it and is great
@@abeldiaz111Is it suitable for photoshop, figma, adobe xd. Any lag? Any grainy display issue you noted?
Where Samsung book 4 stands in this?
I’m looking for a laptop that will do editing for insta 360x3 and DJI mini 3 video editing cheers currently have a windows laptop 💻 but may consider upgrading to apple if I can get a gd second hand 1 cheers j in the uk 🇬🇧
I have not seen anything so far that has excited me in laptop-land. No, "wow" moment, I need to upgrade. The new Core Ultras are more efficient and have better iGPU but these improvements are expedient as they simply catch up to where they should be versus AMD and Apple Silicon. The Intel 14-gen is a rehashed 13-gen. I hope the Snapdragon X Elite coming in Q3 are not similarily underwhelming.
No mention of the Yoga Pro 9i? Interesting decision.
Rewatch the begining of the video one more time.
@@MatthewMonizFair enough lol. Lenovo takes their sweet time.
The Macbook Air M3 "8 GB RAM" is one of the best laptops. Yayyyy
Timestamps please
I love my MacBook Pro 16 base m3 max. It can basically do everything and quicker than every other laptop my peers use. I think it’s worth the money
Please do the legion pro 5i gen 9
what was that razer computer you mentioned? 3:23 thanks!!
razer blade 14
I've bought the Lenovo legion slim 5 gen 9 amd 4070
Here specter 2024 user, it is amazing, nothing else to say.
any idea how it would stack up against the pavilion plus 14. once that laptop gets the new core ultra 7 the specs are essentially the same but price difference is about 200-300 $
@@anoopgulanikar8978spectre tends to have better small things like keyboard screen speakers maybe battery and build
@@anoopgulanikar8978 I mean i bought my specter on sale and save like 400 bucks, so at least for me, it is hard to beat.
16 with rtx 4050 ,
and how is the battery life with you bro?
@@travel7217 honestly great, but not as good as a MacBook.
With the Snapdragon X Elite around the corner, buying a Windows laptop now for most people is crazy.
Unless gaming is a huge factor. I’m looking forward to Snapdragon Windows laptops as well. The ball would be on the software developer’s court after that. Hopefully Microsoft would enable Android emulation as well. They would be natively run.
HP 360 looks great but there is so much problems with Linux...😢
the Asus Zenbook Duo ..or Dual or whatitsface didn't make the cut?
It's a cool laptop but very niche.
if the HP spectre 2 in 1 had a better graphics option, I would be all in.
The 16inch version has a rtx 4050
I think the Spectre with an EGPU would not be that bad of an option, seeing as some of the EGPU is like phone sized, and the performance (GPD G1) is similar to the performance of a 4060 or better, and with better cooling, along with so much better battery life than a gaming laptop.
What about the Asus Scar 16 2024?
Never reviewed it. Only 18 inch version
@@MatthewMoniz Thank you for your reply! :)
Ok, but would it not be pretty much the same just with a 16" screen and lighter? Or do you have experience with versions from previews years where the 16" version was just a much better laptop? :-)
Please fix the mic adjustment man. I felt anxious for ya
Does the g14 also have the fans turning on for every little task? It would drive me nuts if the fan is turning on when I’m just web browsing or watching a RUclips video
Hello, I'm using a 2022 model g14. And no, the fan doesn't kick in 99% of the time in silent mode or web browsing. So I'm imagining the 2024 won't as well since the battery life is twice or thrice as long as the 2022 model.
I'm sorry for bothering but..
I'm buying this evening or tomorrow one gaming laptop between
the HP Omen 16 (2021) and the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:

.Acer Predator Helios Neo 16:
i9 13900hx, 4060, 16gb ddr5, 1Tb, qhd 16:10 1600p

.Is Neo16 far better for gaming?
.Is Neo16 more powerful cpu really useful for gaming?

@@burtdanams4426 oof, thanks. You saved me bro!

What about the fan noise? I’m also looking at Legion 14
You can't believe that Q1 is over after three months? How many months a quarter of a year has, you think?
I'm referring to how fast the time has passed.
Thanks for all reviews. I just pre-ordered the Yoga Pro 9i 16 2024, looks like it will be the best 16 inch this year. Also want to note that laptops like the Macbook Air, Zenbook etc. might *seem* to perform similar to others or even better, but within seconds of a sustained load; those numbers will drop by half or more. I think it is important to state this now and going into the future in upcoming reviews. Nothing personal, just in general for all reviewers and consumers! (Btw I think for the price, performance, comfort, cooling etc., the Yoga Pro 9i will literally make a lot of these laptops obsolete)
Your comment seems a little biased. No need to get pressed just cause the laptop you ordered wasn't on the list.
How did you pre-order it? I wanted to buy one too but here in the US it’s not on sale yet.
@@shawarma3066 that isn't the case. The laptop I ordered isn't available yet and hasn't been reviewed yet by Matthew. Jush Josh only has it reviewed which is why I pre-ordered. I don't care about the product I ordered, I ordered it because it doesn't drop after a sustained load. Macbook Air has no fan so that is obvious. Cinebench R15 sustained load test is what Im talking about, don't be a petty person.
@Burbanana true, any macbook air is nor good for intense workloads. One of the reasons why I settled with the m3 macbook pro base model

Some great choices in the video.
- HP Spectre 360 (2024 with Intel Ultra) for those that need a powerful Windows laptop for work purposes.
- M3 Air for those with an iPhone and have light CPU work and general web browsing needs only.
Deals from last year: Lenovo ThinkPad T14s G4 with the Ryzen 7 7840U CPU and Radeon 780 iGPU.
you think the spectre does a better job than the M3?!
@@Morok2 M3 Pro/Max are better, but the M3 Air... not really beyond single core performance.
can't believe ASUS removed user upgradable RAM in zephyrus series...
Yeah, although the Zephyrus M series hasn't been updated yet. That will probably keep both RAM slots.
It's not like it's a bad thing itself, just get the 32gb, would be worth it already. 16gb feels like it's never enough, atleast for me. Although yes the pricing...
@@Yayaloy9 Yes, the pricing is the killer, base variant come with 16gigs of RAM, and the upgrade to the 32 gigs variant is way costly. If it would have been user upgradable, then buying and installing a 16gigs or even a 32gigs RAM stick is way less expensive than paying extra for the 32 gigs variant of the laptop over the base variant. Although this soldered RAM has significantly more speed than the user upgradable RAM sticks...
@@vibhoranand3261 From what I can tell, it was a choice from ASUS to have a slimmer laptop chassis for the 2024 Zephyrus series. But then, a lot of buyers would still prefer upgradable RAM instead of a marginally slimmer design.
I'd rather not have upgradable RAM if it reduces the size of the cooling solution
how about hp specter x360 16 inch bro you do not think is good like 14 inch ?
I'm just waiting for the X Elite Surface. The Spectre is a strong option for 2 in 1 laptops, but we need to see what Qualcomm has to offer

You need to wait like 6 months lol. New intels and amd will be released before that time.
Same here. I’ve also seen the other comment suggesting it could be a long wait which would be a shame. I like Macs but need a solid windows device for my work and I’m hoping the snapdragon version would be the chosen one.

It's based on what I get into the study. Unfortunately no budget laptops yet. Also the best "budget" laptops are last years midrange laptops on sale
None of these last 8-9 hours, only Macs. I m not even considering gaming. Only basic browsing, etc.
