What an insane tracklisting. Their first song from their first album, two songs that only ever came out as a non-album single and its b-side and the first song from their FOURTH album?! Not to mention "Steelly Dan." What was going on here?
I had this back in the 70s, a different non-US release. It is very catchy and I have found myself "singing" it in my head through the years. Your image has a typo at the bottom: "STEELLY DAN". (2 L's). Worth more? :-)
As someone who's heard practically their entire catalog that is publically available, this one still holds a special place in my heart.
A seemingly rare sonic indulgence of sentimentality The Dan. A true gem.
"STEELLY DAN". Early days for sure! Best version I've heard. Thanks.
Reminds me of Todd Rundgren
I've always loved this gem. And The Bear.
...also recorded by ex-Momma n Poppa lead singer Denny Doherty...early 1972
Wow! Super early release! Never heard it before. Gonna tell my friends about this!
Great quality.
im gonna upload mine when it comes
This sounds similar to Brandy by Looking Glass which was released a month earlier, both also having nautical lyrics.
the game, has once again, changed

Weirder yet, the "Four Tracks From Steely Dan" EP has the same tracks except "Haitian Divorce" from their *fifth* album, instead of "Black Friday".
@@tehrobotjesus ...this was a Japan-only release...not supervised by the group or the US record company.....Japan fans wanted 'Dallas'
@@tehrobotjesus good, Black Friday is one of my least favorite Steely Dan songs. Haitian Divorce is a bop.

What's on the flip side?
A little too lopsided toward a bass-heavy EQ curve on this one. Needs balancing. But the clarity is superior to the others.
