    We live in the middle of London with very little open space, and I'm taking my five year old and one year old on their first beach trip. I am probably more excited than they are! Thank you for the tips!

    Love the safe sun exposure! We do the same. We only use mineral based sunscreen as well when we’re going to be in the sun longer than usual.

    Love this video! So happy to see another mom with the same logic as me!
    Question, if you were by yourself with your toddler and baby during baby’s nap time, what would you do? I have a 6mo and worry I can’t leave him alone if my toddler needs me or wants me to swim or play

    • @confidentlymom
      @confidentlymom  Год назад +1

      So I'd check the beach cams/rip current reports that morning to get an idea of how safe or dangerous the shoreline may be... my toddler is REALLY good with not going past her limits so I could trust her playing in the shore if there isn't a strong undertow without going too far out (but you really gotta know your kid and know they will listen if you shout out a command.
      I would probably just set us up close to the shore though, baby in the shade, and dig a hole/sand castle with my toddler during naptime. Have lots of snacks.
      I would alternatively wear baby and go for a walk too with the toddler.
      With all of that said, if you're nervous, this would be a time to do the shower curtain/pool hack in my opinion. You bring it out as a "wow" factor once baby falls asleep. OR if you don't want to do that, then painting seashells is always a good option. Again pull it out as a special thing once baby falls asleep.
      Hope that helps!

    I am going in August to the beach I love this video I've never taken a young toddler to the beach. Just my older kids like 6 and up. But the beach clips you posted shows the clearest calmest Beautiful beach I've ever seen. What beach is in those clips?

    • @confidentlymom
      @confidentlymom  Год назад

      Oh they are from all over Palm Beach County - the water that's super clear and calm someone else had asked about before is Crystal Cove in Jupiter which is actually the intracoastal across the street from the beach - the water isn't always that clear by any means but that waterway is always calm so it's good for littles.
      For consistently clear water the Gulf is def a safer bet. The further north the less likely to be impacted by red tide.

    What beach were you at 9 minutes? I'm from Miami and want to take my 2 toddlers but want something calm

    • @confidentlymom
      @confidentlymom  Год назад +1

      Delray, at low tide during certain times the sandbar creates tidal pools. There's def beaches closer to Miami that do it too, your best shot for something like that is to check the surf report for calm waters and low tide, and check out a few places near you from there that have sand bars just off the shoreline.

      @@raqueloliveira4965 I actually just rewatched hte video, and realized you mayyy have been referring to the jupiter inlet near coral cove! So we were actually in the intracoastal at the first part of the 9 min and then in the tidal pool was delray around 9:33

    Hi! Just found this video and it was so helpful! We are going to the beach at the beginning of summer break. My toddler (he will be 18 months) had a lot of water exposure last summer but this will be his first time getting back in it. I’m curious about opinions on should we do the puddle jumper/ life jacket/ float?

    • @confidentlymom
      @confidentlymom  6 месяцев назад

      It really is family/child dependent!
      We used a puddle jumper with my first. And I do like them for the ocean because instead of holding her, I could hold the pull string on the puddle jumper to keep her close, while still letting her explore.
      Puddle jumpers though aren't necessarily the safest and can give kids a false sense of confidence in swimming. So for some kids I would never recommend them. She was always very aware she needed that and us still and never tried to wiggle out.
      Life jackets that hook under the groin are the only ones i like for being *in* water, otherwise they push up over the chin too much for kids and they dont understand floating on their back to breathe and it's a whole thing worth avoiding.
      We also LOVE floats and use them all the time. For 18 months, the baby float i think i show in this video is my go to rec.
      My son would never go in anything though other than a regular old tube float that big kids/adults use. So we get a bunch of the tiny ones from dollar tree once he was about 2, or I'd get a big one for me, and sit him on my stomach and share it with him otherwise we'd hold him

    Thank you for this boost of confidence. So happy to bring as little as possible. First time mom of a 6 month old and I’m just curious how you keep the bottles clean?? Keep them in the car and feed in the car? Pack extra nipples in a ziplock? She’s mostly still on the bottle. Just any extra advice on this would be helpful.

    • @confidentlymom
      @confidentlymom  6 месяцев назад

      Of course! So I always just nursed right on the beach and never dealt with bottles; my first was binky obsessed though, which i feel like gets covered in sand way more often than a bottle would lol we just always let her have the sand from the paci nipple honestly or if she brought it to use/showed distaste for it we rinsed it off in ocean water or shook our water bottle out over it and wiped it clean with the fresh water. A little sand or ocean water isn't typically a big deal, most babies are tasting it at some point anyway. If you're nervous you can always talk to your healthcare provider about it but we always felt fine.

      Ahh enjoy!! The great thing about the beach and that age, is their nap typically falls during peak sun hours, so it's super easy to get into a great flow without needing a ton!
