    Currently 31 weeks pregnant with baby #2 My prolapse essentially disappeared in early pregnancy, but I strained (toilet and moved a mattress, not the brightest idea) and so my prolapse returned. Since then it's been there on and off and as the pregnancy progresses everything is naturally getting looser and larger. So trying to manage, like you say with posture. Laying down as much as possible to relieve pressure, I have a single bed mattress in my living room so that I can lay down and watch my 14 mo old baby. But yes getting pregnant again certainly is possible even with prolapse! Luckily weight wise I haven't had to do anything, been putting on a very moderate amount, but am mindful of that, as I do tend to be overweight. Lots of great advice!

      GREAT advice -- glad you're actively trying to relieve pressure by taking rest breaks, etc! Have you tried propping your hips up with a pillow (supported bridge)? Feels really nice :)

    Thank you so, so, so much for this video Bri! I have a very mild case of prolapse (a cystocele, hardly even detectable by the doctor), and am looking forward to another pregnancy soon. Obviously, I do not want this minor prolapse to get worse, and have always tried to prepare myself for pregnancies through exercise and a healthy diet (your videos are my FAVORITE). This particular video has answered some important questions that I've had on my mind. My doctor suggested using a pessary during future pregnancies for added support, but now I know it might not be a simple as that... perhaps some downsides to a pessary that need consideration. My husband and I are always open to life. That being the case, we have 5 kids already, and will probably end up with a whole lot more (as I am only 32). The same goes for many of my relatives and friends, who also want to manage/prevent prolapse and are looking forward to more healthy, happy pregnancies. Your videos have been SO helpful to us in that regard! If you would ever be interested in doing some pregnancy exercise videos that would be safe and strengthening for the pelvic floor (maybe even a series?!?!) it would be SO APPRECIATED! As always, thank you for offering so much knowledge and help for women with POP! It is so appreciated!

  • @BethR-vf8ne
    @BethR-vf8ne Год назад

    These are such great tips that I would have never thought about. We are currently TTC, I have an appt with my urogyno in the next few months. I will definitely be getting a repeat c-section, as I'm positive my vbac with number 2 is what caused my pelvic organ prolapse. And none of my medical providers even mentioned that prolapse could be a potential issue. Had I known that I'd be dealing with half the issues I have now, I never would have elected for a vbac.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  Год назад

      I'm glad you found the tips helpful! It's essential to make informed decisions about your childbirth method, especially if you've experienced pelvic organ prolapse in the past. Discussing your concerns and medical history with your urogynecologist is an excellent step towards ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy.
      Remember that every person's situation is unique, and what's right for one individual may not be the same for another. Your healthcare provider will be able to provide guidance tailored to your specific circumstances and help you make the best choices for your pregnancy and delivery.
      Wishing you all the best on your journey to conceive and during your pregnancy. It's great that you're proactive in seeking the right information and care.

I am now pregnant again I have a very low cervix it's a finger tip away from the entrance to my vagina sometimes (at worse) length of my middle finger away from the entrance at best. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and very strange my cervix has gone so far up and it's completely gone. I can't find it during sex and I don't want to fiddle to much for obvious reasons. Hormones have moved my cervix perhaps I am not sure. Our bodies are crazy though and so strong!!

      Hey Katie, I'm glad you're speaking to your urogyno, who can give you a much better idea of your prognosis based on your specific condition / degree prolapse. I can say that many women with mild prolapse are able to have a safe and successful second pregnancy as long as they're careful about using proper posture, body mechanics, etc. I'm sorry I can't give you more specific advice, but please know that I'm sending you love and wishing you and your family the best!

    Hi Bri! It's me again, this time with a few related questions! I watched your video on how to correctly self test for Diastasis Recti. I did the test, and found that I probably have what would be considered a moderate separation. The worst area of the split (where the tissues seem most compromised) has an umbilical hernia. It was quite significant after my last pregnancy, but (thanks to your awesome workouts!!!!) has significantly reduced in size. My core is super lean and strong, minor cystocele improving, DR worlds better than before, and hernia much smaller... SOOOO, this leads me to the questions. 1) Although my hernia is much improved, it is not gone. What usually happens to umbilical hernias as DR heals? Will it ever completely go away through exercise? Is there a possibility that it might prevent the DR from healing as much as it would otherwise? 2) What can I do to protect my DR from worsening during subsequent pregnancies? As DR is a part of POP, your suggestions in this video are probably intended to address DR as well. Do you have any other suggestions particularly targeted to DR during pregnancy (particular exercises to do or to avoid, should I wear supportive clothing, etc...)? 3) I wrote my last comment super fast, and feel badly that it might have come across as a ton of pressure on you to make pregnancy videos. Haha, I know that this may or may not be the right time for you to launch into a whole new series! I am just such a HUGE fan of yours, and the thought of having to give up so many of your great videos during pregnancy is really upsetting to me. I think that a lot of women are scared about their prolapse getting worse during pregnancy. We want to stay healthy and active, and keep our POP in check, but don't know WHAT EXERCISES TO DO!!! Could you please tell me which of your already existing exercises are safe for a pregnant woman (as I hope to be in the near future) who intends to stay super active (hopefully) throughout a pregnancy? Thanks for your help as always!!!

      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Alissa! What amazing questions! Yes, the general info in this video 100% applies to subsequent pregnancies with DR as well. While everyone is different, your hernia may not completely disappear/go away, but it should be MANAGED (and as you said, getting smaller/less noticeable) as you regain anterior abdominal wall strength and repair your DR. I would love to do an entire series for pregnancy, but right now I have too much on my plate... I'm SO SORRY!!! Thank you for this video Bri! I have mild prolapse (stage 2, uterine, rectocele, cystocele). I do plan to have another kid in a couple of years. But honestly I'm terrified of the pushing phase during labor. I had a particularly long and difficult pushing phase with my 1st kid, and I'm pretty sure that that's what led to the prolapse. As a result, I've thought of going for an elective c-section for the next labor. Am I being crazy and paranoid?

    • @HarrietFitzgerald580
      @HarrietFitzgerald580 6 лет назад +3

      Leena Jennifer I don't think you're being crazy. I'm scared of this next delivery too. Hopefully I will be able to have a natural birth and let my body do its thing. Last time I was induced and ended up with an epidural and was of course told to push enormously. I bled a lot post partum and the doctors had to fiddle, rather unceremoniously in my vagina and I'm sure all that led to my prolapse. I think meditation and deep breathing might help, at least I hope it will! 😅

      I would suggest getting a doula and talking with her about wanting to labor down so that once in a delivery room you will have an advocate to say “she doesn’t want coached pushing”.
      There is a misconception that the minute you turn 10 cm, you’re ready to push and that is not the case.

      jencountry are you going to get a csection? I’m also considering one. On 3rd pregnancy. Doctor is saying my prolapse is normal and mild but I’m still very concerned.

      I had first grade prolapse after delivering my daughter naturally 2 years ago and now I’m 32weeks pregnant with #2. My husband and I are so lucky that it only took us one time to get pregnant with both babies. In my case having a prolapse didn’t affect conceiving at all.

      Unfortunately, prolapse can even happen for people who have never been pregnant!

      Trust me... it happens! 5 hours of intense pushing will do it 😏
