    I've been so frustrated with my gynecologist who diagnosed me with both bladder and rectal prolapses. He seems resigned to me eventually needing surgery and only briefly mentioned pelvic floor physical therapy or a pessary as options to consider down the road. I do feel like my questions and concerns and wanting to be proactive in at least maintaining my current level of functionality are dismissed rather quickly. His reassurance to me is that many women have hysterectomies and have full lives afterwards. I'm so thankful for your videos. I have learned more about my body, pelvic floor and pelvic organs in a month's time from your videos, interviews, and exercise videos than I have in going to my gynecologist for the past 30 years.

      I'm so glad my videos have helped you see "another way!" Sometimes surgery is, in fact, indicated... But (in my opinion) it's often best to exercise/explore all conservative options first. Stay strong, stay informed, and stay on board with my channel. More good stuff coming!

    • @mollyhorse

      Mindy...I would strongly advise you to have the surgery! I have tried for 18 years to fix my prolapse..I just couldn't take it any more...one day operation..and my world has changed! So just my opinion but pelvic floor exercises did NOT work and this sure did! Sometimes your muscles are just too damaged...

      Jenna Nicholson That is good advice. Because after 6 pregnancies and my tomboy lifestyle, my pelvic muscles were wrecked. I first noticed POP after a long run. Cramped like labor! That was ten years ago. I am still trying all I can to avoid surgery but now I have adenomyosis....SIGH!!! One friend had repair surgery and she feels fantastic after 4 months of healing. The healing was intense. But prior to that, she was suffering "UTI's" so said her drs. but it wasn't a UTI it was prolapsed bladder and uterus!!!

    Great informative video. I am in Germany and I went to my GYN last June of 2021. She prescribed me estrogen cream because I felt that I had a tiny ball between my legs. Anyway, my GYN never told me that I have early stages of prolapse and I needed to do pelvic exercises. I'm so happy that I can watch videos like this so I can help myself. Doctors don't take the time to explain the problem or the cure. I'm taking my health in my own way by getting informed through videos such as this!! Now, I can approach my GYN with more questions.

    Thank you for sharing this. I've had POP (Grade 2) for two years. I am 52 and I miss so many activities from my old life. Sometimes, climbing a bus can be a nightmare. I don't go to they gym anymore and riding is bike is not possible. I saw a couple of doctors at that time, but they really hurt me and they treated me as a piece of flesh. I was sick and bleeding for more than a week after going through studies and examinations. The last doctor also made my tried like 4 different sizes of pessaries, but they would stay in position if i was lying, once I stood up, they would reverse and flip inside and they really hurt. It's not easy to find good practitioners where I live. There are days like today, when I feel really defeated, useless and hopeless.
    It's been really a relief to hear Michelle say that POP can be reversed and comfort improved. I would like to learn more about how I can do that myself. I life in Argentina.

    When should someone be concerned that there is prolapse after having a baby? I always thought 6 weeks was when everything should be back in place. I love that you are putting this information out there! Pelvic floor health is so important! Thank you

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Tristin! Funny you should ask - next week I'm going to be releasing a video about my own personal journey with prolapse, which occurred after having my baby. Watch for it! I believe it's scheduled for June 15. There is no "set in stone" date at which everything should be back in place postpartum (everyone is so different), but the hormones are shifting and changing dramatically for the first 6 months, and even longer if you're breastfeeding long-term, which has an effect on your connective tissues and ligaments and can absolutely impact your prolapse. So there's a lot of change that can occur NATURALLY (simply due to the body's healing and re-integrating process) after baby! Wishing you all the best, and I hope you'll stay tuned to my RUclips channel. So much more goodness coming!

    • @tristintindallrnbsn1304
      @tristintindallrnbsn1304 7 лет назад +1

      FemFusion Fitness Thank you, I will be watching for it! I just had my 3rd baby 5 weeks ago and I think I have stage 2 bladder prolapse, I am breastfeeding and I ride horses and I have been doing your exercises I am curious if riding horses would make the problem worse or help.?

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  7 лет назад +1

      To be honest with you Tristin, I'm not sure about horseback riding! I know you use your adductors (inner thigh muscles) when riding, which is typically great for pelvic floor health... But it could also make matters worse if you have hyperactivity of the pelvic floor muscles (which sometimes occurs during prolapse). The bouncing/jostling of riding might also be too much. This might be best discussed with your healthcare provider, and definitely tune into your body to see what works for you (and what doesn't). Good luck!

    Very informative video Dr Bri, thank you. Michelle is so knowledgeable & enthusiastic. I live in Ireland too & have located a Woman's Health Physiotherapy locally thanks to Michelle. Yesterday my GP picked up a minor bladder prolapse during my routine smear, I was just told to "do more Kegals". I came out the consultation feeling about 90! Searching for prolapse exercises I found your RUclips channel. I'm 51 & have been on HRT for 12 months & I do have a little stress incontinence when I sneeze etc but I never considered it might be a prolapse. I've subscribed to your channel & will be watching & doing the exercises. I'm also going to read Michelle's blog. I feel much happier now. Thanks again. Julie

      So glad you found my channel, and also Michelle!!! She's fantastic and SO knowledgeable. You're in good hands with the PT she recommended, I'm sure, and I hope you'll continue to do some of my exercises/videos as well! One more thing - have you considered (or heard of) Julva? It's been helpful for many women with light bladder leakage and mild prolapse. Here's an interview with more info: ruclips.net/video/FvviqjxXS8g/видео.html and here's a link that should give you a 7-day free trial if you're interested (I know they ship internationally): drann.ontraport.com/t?orid=14881&opid=72

      Luckily I don't suffer with any vaginal symptoms (I'm on HRT tablets for 12 months) but will check the link out. I've watched your week 1 exercise/lifestyle video & started doing the exercises yesterday. Thanks to watching/listening to you I've learned I've been doing Kegals wrong all these years breathing in instead of exhaling! I can already feel the difference in the muscles as I'm doing them so I hope they're working. I'm also drinking more water, eating more fibre foods & learning to sitting forward on my sitz bones when sat at the laptop instead of slouching back on my butt. When I see my GP in 3 months I shall mention that perhaps she could make sure her patients are doing Kegals correctly when she says "do more Kegals" & they know not to do exercises such as sit ups/crunches etc.

    After 2 decades of no health insurance, I was finally lucky to get really good coverage. The doc I went to didn't tell me anything concerning personal involvement in prevention or reversal of my POP, other than telling me the importance of fiber in my diet and not straining.
    This United States health care is a debacle. Medical pros will focus only on what earns them money. Prevention and reversal doesn't earn them dough.
    I did get a pessary, but it might not be the answer for me~~having a struggle with that at the moment. I'm hoping I can find a pessary that works for me so I don't have to do anything invasive.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  5 лет назад +1

      Pessaries are wonderful but they can be challenging to fit. Consider seeing if there's another type/style of pessary that might work better for you. I know it's a hassle, but it might be worth it in the long run. Good luck!

    • @kikib8434
      @kikib8434 3 года назад +1

      I hear you - Ihave issues with my pessary too. My PT and I tried every possible kind but sometimes you don't get a best fit. In my case scar tissue and adhesions from multiple surgeries affected the "landscape". So physio and diet (including fasting) are my tools to try to heal.

    I.m very lucky to have found a brilliant women's health physio, but struggled on for years not knowing this profession even existed! Not one of the many GPs I consulted for my rectocele even suggested a specialist women's physio. I can't believe this! Surely GPs should refer, or at least point women in the right direction, as I was led to believe there was no help for my condition and I would simply have to live with it!

    I wish I had run into this video a week ago before I had gone under an AP repair surgery for the second time in less than one year. I was told by the doc that my stage II repeated POP would only get worse unless I go for a surgery. I'm only into my early thirties and I still wanna have more kids. I know now that I will follow your channel for more great info.
    I only wonder if my exercise routine (spin class with mat Pilates) had any effect for my first surgery to fail. Secondly, now that I am post-op just a couple of days, how soon would you recommend for me to resume physical exercises? Thanks a million :)

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  7 лет назад

      I'm so glad you found my channel! I hope you will be staying in touch (and staying informed)! You'll love my prolapse series coming up in just a few weeks (it will be called "Lift" --- watch for it). Per your question, it's possible that your exercise routine contributed to an increase in intra-abdominal/intra-pelvic pressure that may have contributed to the surgical failure. This can happen if you aren't aware of the need for proper breathing and certain "tweaks" to your exercise technique. Again, my "Lift" series should help clarify how to proceed with exercise in the future, after you recover from your most recent surgery. As for when you can resume physical exercise, I am not at liberty to provide this information because every surgeon may have slightly different precautions. Please ask him or her (or their office) what their post-op protocol is, as far as when you can resume exercise. All my best to you... Take care and keep watching!

    I have all three prolapses and one a stage 4. I was told that surgery was not an option in 2008 and I've been living with my prolapsed state since then. I tried a few of your exersice videos and I did feel some strengthening and I feel better today! :) I've tried so many pessaries but my body "spits" them out. From this video it sounds like I should try going to another gyno (no pelvic floor experts in my area) and try pessaries again and do these exercises regularly for a while. IF I end up needing surgery I will travel. Do you have a list of physicians that you recommend?

      Yes! It's the step that's often missed... People may automatically assume that they're weak, when really they need to address the excess tension FIRST and then begin strength and coordination training.

    Hello, I just found out that I have a stage III prolapsed uterus at 15 months pregnant. I developed my prolapse during pregnancy and was very active before pregnancy with no problems, so it caught me off guard. Would you recommend the same exercises for a pregnant women?

      Sorry, yes! I'm 15 weeks pregnant and developed a prolapse. I've consulted two doctors, and they both say their is nothing I can do. I've been watching your videos, and was wondering if you would recommend the same advice and exercises for a pregnant women.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth

      Thanks for clarifying! Since you're pregnant, this is more of a complex situation and something I'm not able to specifically address without seeing you in person as a client. However, you can still benefit from some of the basic lifestyle, posture, and body mechanics techniques that Michelle and I discuss in this video (exhale with exertion when lifting and when transitioning between movements... stand and sit with good posture - don't slouch... etc.). All my best to you for a comfortable pregnancy. A lot can change postpartum, so please keep that in mind!

    You have given me hope! I went to the gynecologist the day before Thanksgiving, just a few days ago. I was thinking I had a prolapse of some kind. He examined me in the normal position in stirrups. He said my cervix looked good, then asked me to push like I was pushing a baby out. I did and nothing happened. He then said he had to go get another instrument. I couldn't see what he brought back into the room because of the position of the exam table. I, very nervously, asked him what he was going to do. He said not to worry that he would tell me everything before he did it. He then proceeded to tell me he was going to grab my cervix and have me push in order to pull the uterus down into the vagina!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK????? This sounded SO BARBARIC to me!!!!! I asked him if that was going to hurt and he said, "You've had a baby before, right?" Insinuating that to think this was painful was being a baby, I guess. Well, he then excitedly said, "Push, come on, push that baby out!" Well, I pushed, but I have to say it wasn't with much effort, this did not seem right. He stopped and said, "You really don't want to push do you?" I told him, no, I didn't! He then told me he would have a specialist contact me and that I would need a hysterectomy and if I were his wife to have them take my ovaries as well. Is this normal?

    Is possible to reverse 3d degree of utrain prolapse with excersice

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Ashitha; while I would never say that it's impossible, I can say that 1st and 2nd degree prolapse symptoms are more easy to manage (and even reverse) with exercise and lifestyle modifications. For stage 3 you'll likely need to look into use of a pessary and/or surgical intervention in order to reverse symptoms. In my opinion, however, it's always ideal to try conservative options FIRST. At the very least you'll get stronger in your pelvic floor/core before going into surgery (if that becomes the best option for you).

    I love you. I am deeply grateful. I suspected cystocele in the last 48 hrs. I have been treffied. I allowed my self to cry. Then shifted how I see it all . I am grateful for the info. I intend to deal with it correctly from a relaxed place of mind. I muscle tested it . It is telling me it is reversible. It happened in may 2018, Due to constipation my weight is ideal for my height. I had adrenal fatigue for so long. I have healed it and the stress. I need to pacify my vatta dosha and my water element (kidney , bladder and adrenals) . May be it is the hardest way my body is telling me I need love , comfort, nourishment, healing and gentle sexy movements. But I am more than ok with it now. Not like yesterday. This has been triffing. But I think women's bodies are flexible . I love my beautiful body. It is bringing me back into yoga . Which I have used to love till 2011. Stopped practicing because of a car accident. I have recovered from it. thanks God. My body wants to resume yoga. I think. I am practicing walking and soft dance movement everyday. I am grateful I stopped ordinary ab crunches . Only 30 times since 2011. I intend to flow through your programs . I am grateful for you both. God bless you.

After my 2 child I was about a catorgery 3 and I wore the pessary for 1 year which was not all bad had I implemented your techniques maybe I could have avoided surgery which poses recurring problems.
