I invite to make some other comparison with other cones 😜 However very interesting, we need more of this just to give more options and not referring always to the same sounds as you said. Thanks
Of the ones you mentioned, all can do good in a "metal" context. Maybe only the C12Q could be a little too temperamental. Remember that all the "vintage" speakers were designed and voiced for clean tones or natural overdriven tones, certainly not for pedals and not for high-gain preamps. Smaller voice coils = brighter tones. Smaller magnets = less tight bass. In other words, the C12Q may have so much high-frequency content that, paired with a high gain tone, that naturally drips with upper harmonics, may sound with a lot of sizzle. IT will surely sound great with cleans, pushed cleans, classic rock tones etc. Maybe not the tightest one for palm muting and low-tunings.

Another great video! Currently I use your DV-77 for my new recordings but this Lightning/ Nighthawk blend sounds great. Gonna load this IR and do a comparison! Thanks!
@@KohleAudioKult First of all: Both IR sound great! To mo the Lightning/ Nighthawk blend sounds a little colder and seems to have more top end (6k and above). Therefore it's more transparent when playing fast palm mutes which ist great. Right now I like the DV77 (linear) a little more because my music is kind of melodic and benefits from a little more lower mids.
Thank you for showing alternatives to V30. It’s a great speaker but it is everyone’s go to speaker. @@KohleAudioKult i hope so. and don't forget to make a video of the test 👍🏻😎😂
Bro, you knocked it out the park!! Your vids are so intelligent. Thanks!
Another great video! Currently I use your DV-77 for my new recordings but this Lightning/ Nighthawk blend sounds great. Gonna load this IR and do a comparison! Thanks!
Let me know what you think once you’ve tried them!
You've turned me into a total speaker nerd lol. Love these videos man. Learning so much. Keep them coming !
Italian Electric is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Absolutely in love your IR pack. (Don't tell Jens).
I don't want to say it but I'd buy another pack if you put one out.
So great to hear that!
Electric Thunder + Nighthawk is indeed a great discovery! Ps: Can't wait to hear what you'll do with the Amp 1 :D
I think I liked the Night Hawk best, but that V30 still holds up nicely! Take care :)
Great video thanks for the comparison !
Thank you for showing alternatives to V30. It’s a great speaker but it is everyone’s go to speaker. I am working on building a few custom speakers cabs for myself and I am using your videos and a few others to decide on speaker combos for them. Thank you again for putting this info out to the world. There will definitely be some Jenson speakers in something I am making.
Question for you, what are your thoughts on using 15” speakers for guitars in a mix with 12” speakers?
A Jenson Nighthawk and Electric Lightning will be my pair thank you 💥💥
Good choice!
Kick ass video as always, man! \m/
Absolutely love your videos as they help to send me further down the music gear rabbit hole. One thing I wish you would do is make a video for terminology. What do you mean by woody, honky, boxy? I am sure there are others bit I am just curious. I must know! Please. Haha
I wonder if the electric lightning would sound good paired with a 5153 to tame the fizzy nature it has
Old vid, but the C12k's will get you heard. They're excellent for punk more so than metal. They're also extremely efficient.
I will definitely upgrade the pack when I get home. I’ve been using your IR pack since it came out, and I haven’t found anything that comes remotely close =P I used the STL Libra plugin to blend multiple of your IRs and export them as one to use in my Helix, every time I try something new, and I come back to that combination I have going on with your IRs I’m like: this IS my sound, the sound I’ve been looking for like al the time. We’re actually working on an album with one of my bands, and I’m just gonna use your IRs on there. Thanks man haha. Cheers from your neighbor country of the Netherlands =P
The Nighthawk/EL combo was siiiick!!
It is! 🤪❤️🍺
F.... he.. Why you didn"t do this video early. I"m recording right now and that your faforite combo in end is kick hard as hell.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Now I have 4X12 loaded with V30. When my project is ower I start really thinking to change those speakers.
I'd suggest you keep one of those V30's in your cab it will just give more choice in blending sounds , even though I prefer Jensen .
The bonus impulses should sound stupid good with the NDSP Gojira amp
All really good! I like the sizzle of the C12. After awhile the V30 started to sound very honky.
the cross of Peter, he would only except to be crucified upside down, because he wasn't worthy be right side up. Like our LORD. Keep rocking man
When I discovered Jensen speakers were made in Italy I felt very proud. I might try one of these speakers someday. They sound amazing
Haha! Funny to hear not even the Italian metalheads knew that.
Celestion International = MADE IN CHINA. No thanks. Besides, Jensen C12N is zillions of times better than Celestion Blue or Vintage 30. Jensen for me forever!
@@KohleAudioKult I'd really like to hear your opinion on Jensen's BlackBird speaker. It's a massive AlNiCo speaker, and seems a bit dark but great
This is really excellent! 🤘 I really look forward to trying out different speakers in a mix in the future! 🔥
You should! 🤪🍺🤘
@@KohleAudioKult Love your channel Kristian! 🤘 I'm wondering what your experience is with the ENGL Standard Cabinets equipped with Celestion V12-60 (Vintage 60's) speakers? Check these out!! --> ruclips.net/video/8CB0hnS-f60/видео.html
On it's own I still think that v30 sounds best, especially in a mix, but that combo is definitely better than the v30 on its own.
Killer riffs!!! And cool IRs !!!
Hey Kristian!
What speaker would you suggest to combine with Jensen C12k?
Amazing video btw!
Thanks for all your efforts...stay METAL!!!
I have Jensen Jets in my Emperor cabs and they are awesome!
Celestion Blue and Vintage 30 are absolutely nothing compared to Jensen C12N. Many thanks for these videos on Jensen.
I was considering trying one of the C12Ns out, after having great success with the C12K2s and other Jensen speakers. The Falcon 50 is another bad ass speaker, that I would love to see more demos of.
@@colejustesen Sweet! If you did not know, Jensen has a web page with sounds from different speakers. Google "Tone Chart - Jensen Loudspeakers". It took me years to get that vintage Telecaster sound, and I finally got it with the C12N. No more Celestions for me ever again. Hope everything works out great for you!
Thats a great sound I really like the presence but I wonder what If you would use a Smoother mic on the V30 to tame the harshness a little bit like a Ribbon or a Km184
By the way the new Aborted sounds AMAZING.
Was pumped jamming it because I know you had your hand in the recording of it 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks!
This time I just did the reamping and mixing.
They could not come here due to Covid.
That damn sickness has taken too many good times away.
Regardless, killer work my friend.
Can you do a review of the Marshall "ModeFour" Head, please? At least with its Cab as you're choosing to use the other half of that Marriage here ... I bought one back in the 90s and everyone gave it shit claiming it was purely designed for "Idiots" buying "7Strings" .. yet 2021 almost everyone in Metal and every sub-genre is playing a detuned Guitar below std C ! (STD C My absolute Fav Tuning for very early 2000s NWOAHM) .....
Was the ModeFour ahead of its time ????
These sound awesome. Going to try a nighthawk v30 blend. Kohle when you’re tracking albums are you quad tracking guitars then reamping different speakers each time? Or dual tracking them, then just reamp them extra times till you get desired effect?
Quad tracked mostly.
Each pair with a different tone.
Sometimes different speakers, sometimes different amps or both.
Electric lightning sounded the best and most original
Agreed
Jens Bogren is the man!
I have a 2x12 with one Brazilian Speaker and one Jensen CH12/70! Sounds quite nice...
That Nighthawk Lighting got the Mojo!!!
Jensen seems good for Black Metal - its very Thin but Trebble Focused
Still waiting on your answer. I have a 2x12 Mesa boogie cabinet. Obviously I think it's a 2010 model. Thinking about putting a Jensen nighthawk in it and leaving one vintage 30 in it. What do you think?
