Dommage pour la France, certains disent que c est vieillot, les français aiment les beaux textes, et surtout les émotion, le français et sans contexte la langue de l amour, ce n est pas Piaf, mise à part qu elles sont habillées en noir, cheveux courts, mais les rien à voir il faut ouvrir les oreilles, elle a le mérite de chanter en français il ne sont pas nombreux qui chantent en anglais. If you put it like that you may as well say the other 38 artists lost. She came a close second and provided a glorious emotional contrast to the Italian entry which eschewed charm and went for noise.

@@bluesman1947 Hello. I love an Italian ballad, BTW. However, the oh-so obvious comparison with Piaf is beneath you. Piaf had a harsh pointed and accented style of singing. Pravi uses warm tones and possesses a totally different vibe. Pravi also composes songs for herself and others and is politically active. Piaf was simply an interpreter of other people's songs. Now you could claim that the ESC staging was Piaf-esque, but I am sure a large proportion of the telly voters have no idea who Piaf was, yet France came third in their rankings. Her performances of her other songs has almost no connection to Piaf, and she has always maintained that her influences are 'Barbara', Brel, and Dion. She appears to respect Piaf but not to be a fan. - I could just as easily claim that Maneskin are ripping off 'Suffragette city' era Bowie. However, that would also be a trite and lazy comparison with which to run them down. I simply don't like their song for its lack of any subtlety, flair, or style. (And that's from someone who spent this morning singing along to 'The Sisters of Mercy' while redecorating my kitchen!) 👍
