Chester had a one of kind vocal. No hate to Emily, though. I just felt more of a passion from Chester.
Yes exactly.... Somw just don't get it though rather a long time fan or not honestly.
In my honest opinion, she's not a good singer. They could have hired any singer on the planet and they chose one that doesn't sing from the diaphragm.
@@aprils.r8418
Her voice is more on Halestorm than Linkin Park....Oli Sykes and Ivo Rosario would be decent
Different voices. Chester sang out of pain and Emily has more rage.
Still feel Joy Division did it the best, disbanded after and went forward with a different project with New Order
Mike is and always was the main songwriter, Linkin Park had 5 other members aside of Chester. They should absolutely be allowed to move on with their project. Nonetheless I still don‘t fully support Emily as the new vocalist, the Scientology thing is so weird. But saying the other members are not allowed to move on with their lifelong project is just disrespectful.

No way dude, if anyone in the world ever died the best and also in the middle of a sentence it would obviously be
@@bouquetforeverymiserysorry, but LP = Chester. If not for Chester’s decision to not go solo when the opportunity was presented, LP would a mediocre long-forgotten nu-metal band. Mike is great business person, he can sell anything for anything, as long as he comes on top. Proven time after time.
JD never "disbanded", they changed their name and kept working.

skibidi toilet just ENDED his career (it's over)
Blocking the son of your singer who killed himself after you added a new singer that doesn’t even believe in mental health is just fucking nuts this whole scenario is just completely insane
He wanted to release a tell all book, not taking sides because they both have valid points, I think Jamie should have the right to release his book i he wants to, but the band also have a right for self preservation.
Tbf the son is like, genuinely off his rocker.
The son has sanity issues, that even Chester's family and friends (including his mum) blocked him and distanced themselves from. So is not that insane
Emily is probably not a scientologist anymore. Emily is lesbian, and scientology is against LGBT rights apparently, and also Emily stated that once she went to the trial she was disgusted and never came back to support him.
@gigachad2162 lol you really believe that bullshit? 😂😂😂
The fact that they replaced Chester (a known SA survivor) with someone who supported a known SAer, Masterson, is so unbelievably disgusting and shows zero respect for Chester’s legacy.
And guess what? Chester's father investigated CSA cases too! Linkin Park is not only flipping off Chester's trauma but his father's job as well!
Wow, I didn't know about this... More need to know about it.
the fk you mean "replaced Chester"? Chester is gone, man.
let him rest.
they wanted to play so they got a new vocalist. obviously they wouldn't have done it if Chester was still here.
@@janarkolemees I mean to be fair on all terms he did get replaced... The same situation with Cranberries would be another example.
@@danteshollowedgrounds That's a nice reach but getting someone to fill in for a deceased singer is NOT replacing the deceaced.
No one can replace Chester. They should've just gone the Acid Bath route and permanently break up after his death.
you beat me to it when I was talking about The Beastie Boys after MCA passed away. same level of respect. Love me some Acid Bath, too 👽
Or Led Zeppelin. They should have just gone up the Venom route if they wanted to, form another band with the members you want and name it something similar.
Or just go the way of new order and start an entirely new band
Wish Metallica would have done that too.
@@angussneefsame, then I wouldn’t have to have to hear their shitty new music

Cult leaders fascinate me, not because I think they're cool, but because it amazes me how a man can convince so many people that he's the messiah. I can't tell a good lie to save my life, so if I went around telling everyone I was the messiah, they'd put me away!

LP is a project created by Mike Shinoda essentially so i don't see a problem on him keeping the band alive, the problem is that the scientology chick is singing songs that she can't relate to, since most of LP songs talk about abuse and depression, something that her "religion" is not very conscious about. I think she can sing the new band repertory and songs, but singing songs that Chester helped to write, and putting a stain of scientology influence on the band's legacy, is not only disrespectful but also damages any good aspect left in the band. No wonder why Rob and Brad are more distant of the band...
Linkin Park fans will gobble anything that gets served in front of them without questioning it
To be fair though there is a lot of abuse in Scientology to channel
Her other band, Dead Sara, has their own songs talking about mental health. She being openly gay for many years should make you doubt how much she's actually involved in the church since they arent fans of homosexuality. Also Rob and Brad has nothing to do with Emily joining.
Yeah the silence on the matter speaks volumes, pretty disgusting.
The church is known to be quite vile against people who questions them, so it's not weird that she doesn't talk about it.
I think the "joy division" to "the order" is the more organic way to do the things but with other name the marketing will not hit same for them
It's not the same case. In 1980 Joy Division still was an underground band, remaining members were very young (I think they were around 23) and wanted to change the musical direction.
New Order, not The Order.
@@tmamone83 thanks lol misspelling😅
Although I was a huge Joy Division fan a long time ago, I think New Order is way better.
@@AliceBowie I agree. "Closer" and "Unknown Pleasures" are just slow, mopey and miserable to listen to, and I can't relate to Ian's worldview. I find "Low Life" and "Technique" much more beautiful, melodic and fun to listen to.
After watching this video i realized why LP was so quick in announcing a World Tour and - as a Brazillian - confirming a show here. They know much of the LP fans outside the US aren't fully aware of all this context, and they KNOW Brazil especially doesn't care altogether. Ppl here are just hungry for big nostalgia shows like this in general, and couldn't care less about backstage drama. Just take a look at the show Katy Perry had in Rock in Rio. If you watch the performane you absolutely wouldn't know the album she's promoting is sinking like the Titanic. Mike is desperately trying to keep a low profile as to not disturb the ticket sales
Never forget that mike shinoda tried to push nfts when they were a thing btw
I would have preferred it if they just made a new band. Plus for some reason they like spamming AI stuff(the music video for Lost and their Spotify is full of really bad AI anime art), I don't actually mind armstrong's vocals though.
Yeah that's true... At this point tho it seems like they moved away from that and Mike's "WEB3 NFTs" project Warner Music gave him. I am not making that up.
Also Emily's vocals are dope.

Nonetheless I still don‘t fully support Emily as the new vocalist, the Scientology thing is so weird. But saying the other members are not allowed to move on with their lifelong project is just disrespectful.
@@bouquetforeverymisery I think it’s more disrespectful that the band is moving on in such a way rather than just stopping while they’re ahead and doing something different. Bands are generally associated with the frontman, it’s not always the case but the literal voice of a band tends to be the main identity. Should Queen have reformed with a new singer and continue to call it Queen? No. Should Black Flag have reformed with someone other than Henry Rollins and still call it Black Flag? Hell no. Whether you like it or not Queen is Freddie Mercury, Black Flag is Henry Rollins, and Linkin Park is Chester Bennington, it doesn’t matter if Shinoda is the main song writer, for better or worse that band was Bennington and it’s never gonna be the same no matter what you do in an attempt to change that, even if you pulled what Journey did and got a guy that sounded exactly like him it’s still not the same because at that point you’re just selling a lie to your fans. The only reason they’re still doing this is because it’s a cash grab, if they really cared about making music they’d do what RATM did after Zack left and start over.
@@jasonarmstrong5750 i agree, no matter how crude and bad it sounds, all members of a band are dispensable except the vocalist, there is no person in the world who can replace the voice of another. But there are thousands capable of replacing the instruments. They had to leave Linkin Park as a relic and start a new project from scratch.
It’s funny how the fans bullied Chester for the last few bad linkin park albums that he took creative control on, which I believe led to his decision, and now all those same ppl are hating on the new singer. Meanwhile, the whole time all they want is the first two albums again and that’s all they care about, fully ignoring how the band wants to be. And no one else wants to talk about that 🤷🏼♂️
Are you dumb? You must be. How is people that hated the last LP record have anything to do with this new controversy of a singer that supports rapists, harasses their victims and is a member of scientology while Mike Shinoda keeps silent about it? I think it's a very reasonable thing for fans to be upset about and not wanting to support. And they could feel that way while not liking LP's last album, one does not invalidate the other in fact, these premises dont have anything to do with each other and your "point" (if we can even call it that) makes no sense at all. Also, "the fans bullied Chester for the last few bad linkin park albums that he took creative control on, which I believe led to his decision, and now all those same ppl are hating on the new singer" where's the evidence of that? Oh, that's right, there isn't. You're just making retarded stuff up, like your entire comment. It has ZERO logic and again ahas nothing to do to waht fans are complaining about. You should quit smoking weed, it's rotting your brain, Skippy
Lets not try to pretend that all of this happened JUST because the fans hated on OMR. Chester was already in a terrible spot mentally and he had just lost his best friend and role model. The reception of OMR was poor because the album itself was unlike anything that existed before, and asside from a few good songs....its still pretty bland.
Sure fans are obsessing over Hybrid Theory and Meteora quite a lot, but that's because those albums are what put the band on the map. They were and still are some of the best music albums of their generation and have influenced much of modern day metal (especially metalcore) for better or for worse. Anything not on par with these 2 albums will look worse by comparison, even in cases where they have good songs.
Chester was always in a dark place mentally, and he expressed that with every single pant, scream, baited breath that he could. In the last few months of his life he expressed it best, ''I should not be alone when im in that mental space.'' Can you guess how many people were with him in his final moments? 0! Dude got far of the deep end and ended everything just to escape. Sure fan back lash did not help one bit, but it wasn't the catalyst for everything, but rather the cherry on top. When you are someone so humble and pure like Chester was, and you've been placed on this gynormous pedastal that just can't seem to stop growing, even something trivial as fan backlash will feel like you've been betrayed by everyone or you've let everybody down. Add that to an endless spyral of fighting addiction, depression, a horrific childhood trauma that will stay with you for life, AND the fact that your best friend just died, you and many others would've prolly thrown in the living towel too. All this to say that fans aren't at fault for Chester's self deletion, but he is. He may have done it for his own reasons, perhaps it was an innevitability- perhaps the reason he separated himself from his family was because he had everything figured out but just didn't want either his wife or son to be martyrs to his corpse. Nevertheless, it was a decision he himself chose, despite knowing how much people loved him. Sometimes it truly doesn't matter how much you mean to people. If you can't mean anything to yourself, you will always feel meaningless.
And that is of course assuming that Chester killed himself and wasn't done in by someone else.
@@drewblackmatter6669 Why not? He did get in controversy about insulting those people before he did what he did. Yes he was in a bad place mentally but its not like those people did not push him to it. Same as now, they wanted band to be disbanded or return to meteora and hybrid theory. And the thing is that Chester was going to do something outside of Linkin Park to that style. Cross off was a start of something that was going somewhere and we never got there.
Lol, it's the fan's fault for what he did? Just because they didn't like the album...
@@jr2904 It was his fault but they were a reason why it happened then and there.(he could have done it later anyway but we will never know) The album thing wasn't as much of a problem as certain people acting towards Linkin Park that way for a very long time. Like I did not like the music they were making too so I just stopped listening to them after minutes to midnight but there were fans who kept harassing Linkin Park with that complaining and kept saying that they should disband if they are not going to make music that sounded like meteora and hybrid theory. Now the same people are complaining that Linkin Park goes on with a new singer and speak on behalf of Chester even though they were the reason for why he did what he did. Its like a bully who bullies someone to a level of deleting themselves and then that same bully speaks about what that person would have wanted.

These type of fans actually led him there from the sound of it. My theory is that they kept the Linkin Park name for the draw of the fans and chose Emily for some Scientology astroturfing to get things kicked off. That’s why they won’t speak on it. The money.
That's just sad if true. LP were among the rustiest and most frequented angsty fountains to drink from in my adolescence up there with Korn, Slipknot, your usual suspects.
It's like, there's taking good advantage of your material success, and then there's the much maligned SELLING OUT. It seems like LP has officially sold out. RIP, because they died with Chester.
The only reason Mike is re-using the brand name is due to established fan base. He has many side projects, which nobody knows about, some generic 14yo rap bars, terrible..

Scientology is wild af man.
Any action on a ship in international waters is subject to the laws of the country it's registered as from. including tax and all laws. I am absolutely not defending the loons, just marking a fact
Throughout LP's carrier Mike said so many things about Chester, how irreplaceable he was, how much they'd be screwed without him, he explicitly stated that *no one* could sing Chester's parts other than the man himself. Which makes things weirder. Obviously, they do whatever they want. I just don't like to see when everybody have to unequivocally support something inherently subjective with no disagreement, because otherwise you're a 'hater'.
BTW obviously the new album CAN and probably will be good, but yeah the comeback also feels like Mike's side-project with half of the original members virtually gone.
Instead of shamelessly cashing out, Mike could have just revived Fort Minor and everybody would love it...
Chicken, sausages, tin cans, pineapples, Mother Johova, what even is a Linkin Car Park?
If you scrolled down, sorry. No troll.
Mike Shinoda hires a scientologist and sells out Linkin Park: IT'S SO FUCKING OVER
Three Days Grace lets Adam back on board: WE'RE SO FUCKING BACK!
That’s so messed up that they’ve completely blocked Jamie from contacting the band now. This has turned into Mike Shanodah’s band, it isn’t linkin park.
I thought her singing was okay but with this Scientology background it’s difficult to support them now
I honestly think Emily Armstrong could have worked out with Linkin Park (preferably for new releases, I don't think her voice fits for songs made with Chester) if it wasn't for the scientology thing. If she did leave, she can't go public with it because scientologists are batshit insane, but if she hasn't then I have no idea why you have her singing songs about mental illness, the very thing that caused Chester to take his life, when she genuinely doesn't believe mental illness exists
She doesn’t want to be labelled an SP and cut off from her family. Cowardly maybe but that’s the honest reason.
When you thought Static X was the worst lead vocal replacement, and someone mange to surprise you. I wonder if the controversy grows big enough Riot games will remove the promotional worlds music video xD
Mike is milking the LP brand with no shame. It's like queen continuing without Fredy, it's not Queen anymore, regardless who wrote the songs and who owns the brand. Do what you want, but if you release a different product, don't use the previous label, especially when you replace the main component, it's a scam. LP is nothing without Chester, yes Mike wrote a lot of stuff, but look at ALL of his side projects, do you know any? Maybe because none of them went anywhere? The only reason they get any attention now is because of him re-using the brand name, otherwise nobody would know they even exist and that's the soul reason why he does it. Rob was the only one who understood what's going on and left. Good for him!
And to the main point - Chester was molested as a child, we don't know for sure, but highly likely that was a huge contribution to his mental state throughout the life. Mike hires a singer, who supported RAPIST in his trail and who is part the cult that destroys families, stalks and blackmails people, etc.. If that's not spitting in Chesters face, then I don't know what is. This is some sick sht, let that sink in
I will never get why Mike doesn't do the most sensible move and bring finally Fort Minor back, since that is actually what fans would be excited about and instead tries to Frankenstein something together that no one believes will compensate Chester's absence and risks to hurt the band's legacy
Remember when scientology was the worst thing ever? Happier times.
Did they reqlly think there was gonna be no controversy over this?

I don't really think scientology is that bad considering what some other artists are doing now adays.
Scientology IS fucking awful and evil but Emily was born into it and as far as I know isn’t practicing or even following its rules. But her family connection does make her vulnerable to manipulation from the cult, so if you choose not to support that’s valid.
finally i can agree with a video on LP 2.0. i have lost so much respect for this band for "replacing" Chester. you can't replace that guy. They should have taken the route the Beastie Boys took when MCA (RIP...you were the best of the Beasties) passed away.
Maybe they're just Scientologists
TIL the singer of ATDI/mars volta is/was scientologist
I think that a band can have a new singer stand in for a passed member but I think that you should make it clear that they're not a member of the band but a supporting act i.e. Queen + Adam Lambert. It makes it clear to people that you can't necessarily just replace people who are gone and carry on whilst still continuing the legacy of that act and furthering the career of said supporting act if they decide to go solo/have a solo career...
The only time I think this rule is passable is when the stand in vocalist has close/familial ties with the band i.e. Brian Johnson was directly endorsed by Bon Scott (that's where the band had heard of him in the first place) or Jakob Nowell standing in for his father's role in Sublime which not only feels natural but is an amazing tribute to his father.
Honestly they should've let this happen you can only catch lighting in a bottle once in one century

At this point in time, we don't know anything about Emily's involvements outside LP and it's simply gross and juvenile to slander people for things we don't even know for sure.
youre saying Hubbard like how Robocop says Weapon
it's really sad to see what's happened to linkin park
They should have just renamed the band.
I still can't believe that they could replace Chester. I was pumped for the reunion, but, the reality is setting in for me.
Damn, I miss Chester. I miss him a lot, and I have decided that I ain't gonna listen to their new stuff, even though how good it is. They tarnished Chester's legacy. They really did, by bringing in a scientologist.
At this point, either Emily should quit the band, or quit scientology, and humbly apologize for what she was in the past. Call me crazy, but, I am deeply scarred by this reunion, like really. Chester saved me, he was the one that saved me from depression. His lyricism and his voice genuinely got to me in my worst times, saving me, and when I came to know that he passed away, that's when I started listening to Linkin Park, even though I started listening to Chester after his demise, his voice still saved me from myself, saved me from my demons and saved me from deep depression. There was no getting better for me, only worse, but, Chester was the one that saved me.
And now they giving an excuse that fans hate us bcz we are trying to replace Chester is just a low blow. Such a low blow. We hate you bcz you are not clearing the air, we don't hate you bcz you bought in a new singer! Dave Grohl and Nirvana broke up, but Dave started Foo Fighters, that's the direction you should have went.
Linkin Park, forever, will be known as Chester's band. The lead singer is the one that gives direction to the band, even if they are not the ones controlling the band. Do better, Linkin Park. Do better.
Alice in Chains did the same thing 15 years ago. You’ll get over it.
Oh no
*Xenu Park.*
My issue with Emily is that she can't do screamed vocals. Like go and listen to the live renditions that Emily did of giving up, bleed it out or any of the hybrid theory era stuff that have screams. She doesn't even to put effort into doing it and it ruins those tracks. She's a good hard rock vocalist but for something like Linkin Park which gets heavier in some places in their discography than normal hard rock. She's not the right fit.

Also, where's the South Park clips?
idk I think supporting a cult that supports child abuse and allows SA, as well as "allegedly" harrsing victiums of a SA for the sake of their friends predatory behavior, is at least as bad. But I guess the answer to that would determine if you are allowed within a mile of a schoolzone.

Damn this shit is worse than I thought
the fact some guy just came up with a new religion and people decided to actually follow it is insane
There are a lot of lost and desperate people out there. All the different religions and cults are vying to get to them first. It is a simple formula. Take basic concepts of morality and self-improvement, repackage them in the image of one's own ideology, and most importantly, include control measures, like isolating members from their families and the outside world. From what I have heard, Hubbard was a charismatic guy with connections, that is how he got his cult to take off.
