Network Fundamentals Part 1: Introduction to Networking
Interested in learning about networking? Let Network Direction help you get started.
This video is for people that are first starting out in networking. All you need to bring is interest and enthusiasm.
My goal of the network Fundamental Series is to help anyone wanting to get into the IT field learn more about Networking.
We will introduce you to the terminology used in the field and help you understand what it means. For instance, have you heard of protocols? We’re going to see what these are, and use the #Ethernet protocol as an example.
In Part 1 we'll also look at what a network actually is, and continue by seeing how devices are connected. Have you ever connected a device over Wi-Fi or plugged in Network Cables to a computer? Delve behind the scenes and find out how this works.
For further study, I reccommend (affiliate):
    CCENT/CCNA ICND1 100-105 Official Cert Guide
    click.linksynergy.com/link?id...
Stay tuned for part 2 where we'll go deeper into cabling, and learn the basics of addressing.
Each section includes a quiz to get you thinking. The answers to the quizzes in this video are found at:
    networkdirection.net/labsandq...

EDIT 9.11.2023 (aprox 3 years later): Well seems like l was right. I'm in uni now and l also work as a pentester. Looking back, this was a long journey. To think this video was my first interaction with something from this domain is extremely nostalgic.

That is very very smart. I'm 26 and just started to get back into this because gaming has gotten very boring. If you find this stuff interesting look into raspberry pi's, you can do a lot of networking and other hardware related projects. I actually use them for my job as an electronics engineer more than a multimeter.

Great video! Nice way to explain things by adding quiz in between. This made video interactive rather than being a boring movie.
    Thanks for video!

You are absolutely amazing at explaining this. Keep it up and thank you so much for doing this! I recently started a systems engineering course and I have been feeling lost. This has given me the confidence to know that I am not hopeless, things just need to explained clearly, like you have done :)

Thank you so much for these videos! I'm currently doing Network + course online and the tutor they used, although clearly really good at their job, is not a teacher/tutor. So getting it nicely introduced in a well put together video is such a relief, I was starting to freak out, thinking I'd bitten off more than I could chew haha.

Just stick with it, you'll get there. If it's feeling overwhelming, just take a break for a while, and come back fresh. Sometimes just reviewing the basics helps to make new concepts easier

Great video, I love the high quality your videos have and I'll recommend this video, and the rest of the series, to trainees at work. As I've already seen the type of quality from your VXLAN videos, I have no hesitation in doing so :P
Although I may not learn anything from this video or the series, I really enjoy watching the videos!
PS: I almost had the answer to the question "What is a network" correct, my personal answer was "A way to connect devices and services" :D

    • @NetworkDirection
      @NetworkDirection  6 лет назад +2

Thanks Darkbase, this is really encouraging to hear. I wasn't sure how this would be received, going from a topic like VXLAN back to basics. It's good to hear that this is still well received.
To give you the inside track, I'm just going to do a few of these at a time. You could devote a whole channel to this topic after all. So I'll do a couple like this, then a few deeper videos.
And, also, I think your answer is pretty good :)
