I was a senior in high school when this game was played. Time flew by so fast. Hard to believe Eli’s career has already ended and Ben’s career is nearing its end. Both should be in the HOF some day.

I remember this game. It was my senior year of college. Its funny that no one knew BOTH these QB's would be rather epic and lead their respective teams to MULTIPLE SuperBowl victories. Nope, back then we were just watching one hell of a shoot-out between two young goofy looking rooks. I must say however, despite how well Eli and co. played, there was never any hope. The Steelers in 2004-2005 were ON FIRE and completely unstoppable. Possibly one of the most "stacked" NFL teams of the modern era. 2004 was also the year the Steelers ended Tom Brady and Belichick's 21 game winning streak handing the Pats a disasterous loss AND a handful of injuries... and we all know how 2005 season ended, blasting through Eli's brother for a Superbowl victory against the SeaHawks in Feb '06.
Fast Forward a few years (2008) and Eli Manning and David Tyree would connect on some incredible plays to ALSO dethrone an undefeated Patriots team! So long story short, this game showcases the dawn of two QBs who would upset the GOAT (Brady) on multiple occaisions and take their teams to multiple Superbowl games. (BigBen - 2006-2009-2011 // Eli: 2008-2012)

After 2004 the Giants didn’t have another losing season until 2013 and didn’t finish last in the NFC east until 2017. From 2005-2012 they won 3 division titles and 2 Super Bowls. As clutch as Eli was and as cool under pressure too during the Giants 2 Super Bowl runs he never won a single playoff game in any other season. He went 0-4 in playoff games outside of those two championship winning seasons. In those games he didn’t complete 60+ percent of his passes in any of them. He threw for fewer than 200 yards per game and only 3 touchdown passes compared to 7 interceptions. The Giants only averaged 11 points in the four games and 3 of them were decided well before the actual end of the game. But he was money in the two Super Bowl runs and is still a HOF quarterback.

Greatness? Eli at his best was good. For most of his career he was average or worse.

@@archmage7813 When you're in the top 10 all time in every major passing statistic.. And you won 2 super bowls against Tom Brady HOF. He was on some beyond dismal teams for half of his career. Football is a team game. Super bowls check, 500 yd game check, 2nd all time in game winning or tying drives check, 2nd all time walk off TD passes check, Postseason records held still check, plenty of 400yd games check, 3rd in consecutive starts check, mastered west coast offense over a summer check, greatest plays and throws check, made due with no HOF players check, Not one thing did he not accomplish in only fifteen years of full service. Was in an era of great QB play and overshadowed and greatly underapreciated check. A couple guys ahead of him put a couple more numbers up, but he destroyed them all when counted, especially in their house on the road in the playoffs. None of those wide receivers including OBJ did much without him. Burress does not shoot himself NYG are a dynasty.

@@frankguidera6828 he was on some dismissal teams because he was for much of his career a dismal QB dude. Put aside your fan boy blindness and in total he had two drives to win two super bowls and that's it. He was a master of garbage time stats. Did you say second in game winning drives??? Ah that Peyton Manning who is second so seriously counting his brother as him is pretty hilarious 😂😂😂😂. Oh, he isn't in the top ten game winning drives by the way. Was he a terrible QB....he had a couple of pretty good years but overall he was happy to be average. Now were his two game inning drives awesome, yes they were! They are all time drives on the biggest stage. However, lots of average players can rise for one game or one drive. Nick foles played a far better whole Superbowl game in beating Tom Brady but I don't think anyone will be talking about Nick Foles getting into the Hall of Fame.

I think this game should've happened in 2005 because the NFL should've redid the interconference rotation like this:
    2002,2006,2010,2014,2018,2022
AFC East vs NFC East (Patriots,Dolphins,Jets,Bills vs Eagles,Redskins,Giants,Cowboys)
AFC North vs NFC West (Steelers,Ravens,Browns,Bengals vs Rams,49ers,Seahawks,Cardinals)
AFC South vs NFC South (Titans,Colts,Jaguars,Texans vs Buccaneers,Saints,Falcons,Panthers)
AFC West vs NFC North (Raiders,Broncos,Chiefs,Chargers vs Bears,Packers,Vikings,Lions)
