No way they called that an incomplete pass on that Polomalu INT
One of the worst calls I have ever seen.
THE WORST CALL.@@robsmith961
That was brutal! Unreal
It was at that moment I knew the check got sent
Repent and believe in the gospel
One of the most memorable playoff games of all time.
Fr
And I'm Packers fan
Agreed. I'm not a fan of the Steelers or the Colts but this is the non Super Bowl playoff game that stands out the most for me from my time watching the NFL.
Repent & believe in the gospel
It really was tho
Troy made that INT as surely as Jesse James scored the TD against the Pats. This was such a classic that even watching it again now made me nervous as if the outcome was in doubt!
Your first sentence is spot on.The ref almost stole this game from us. Polamalu made an interception,
a fumble and a fumble recovery. Jesse James had a touchdown also.
if only Jesse James learned to control the ball and didn't let it hit the ground lmao
@@TheAireaidLord The rules nowadays would've allowed it to be a TD. That's when you know that the rules are shit when they change the definition of a catch so that it would count a year after a call that essentially cost the Steelers the 1 seed.
Mike Vanderjagt missing that kick wide right was the luckiest and most relieve thing to ever happen to Jerome Bettis
Saved the Bus' legacy with that miss
Let's just ignore Polamalu's interception right? Got called back for no reason other than the refs sucking off Golden Boy Manning as they always did back then? Polamalu makes that play, Betts fumbles doesn't even happen.
@@greatestnitemare6626pitt won anyway. So it isnt that big of a deal
Well said. Golden boy my ass.@@greatestnitemare6626
That 4th quarter was wild and had lots of moments that were unexpected! Troy's INT that shouldn't have been reversed, Jerome's fumble, Ben's tackle, Vanderjagt's miss.
Lebeau's scheme really won this game for Pittsburgh though. He had Manning rattled with the unique blitzes
Little surprised Throwback didn’t go with the Indy/Pittsburgh 1995 AFC Championship Game
Right through his chest!
‘Twas a good one. Heartbreaking for me, I was 12 and loved that colts team
It's on nfl films

A classic divisional round upset and NFL media shocker!
The Colts had the 2nd ranked offense and 2nd ranked defense this season and lost. Even got bailed out with the Polmalu int taken away and Manning getting gifted the ball back after the fumble. Colts had a lot of choke jobs, but this was the worst.
They didn’t choke, the Steelers defense was just insane
@@dylanm394 they choked, deal with it
They were 2nd in points allowed but 11th in yards allowed, so depends on which metric you use, but I prefer yards. Still agree with you, as a colts fan, this year was the one Peyton and the colts should have won and had the team for it, but they completely blew it, and yeah Troy intercepted the ball, complete bs from the refs for the colts.
Big Ben with the tackle heard round the world!!!
1. I still can't believe that interception was overturned. It's clearly a catch.
2. Mike Vanderjagt was the most accurate kicker in league history, but this one kick ended his career.
That INT being overturned basically led to more suffering for the Colts.
This is still one of my favorite playoff games to this day
Love this game as a Steelers fan
Peyton got rid of Vanderjagt after this game and won the Super Bowl the next year, talk about winning the feud 👀
Oh wow. The Bettis fumble/ Roethlisberger tackle game
Still remember the most high pitched scream of pain from my Dad when that happened. It was literally like ten thousand yinzers were in agony all at once 😂
I went to see the Steelers in Pittsburgh (I’m from the Bay Area) this year when they played the Steelers. I learned the word Yinzer. Also hit McFaddens after to celebrate y’all’s win. I’ll say this…Pittsburgh knows how to party.
@TheProdigy_916 you went to see the steelers in Pittsburgh when they played the steelers? 😂
Vanderjagt was never the same after this kick. The mental of a kicker is crazy. Dude was crazy accurate and this kick just killed his career.
Our idiot kicker ran his mouth 😂
This should be titled Mike Vanderchokes in playoffs
Never forget this game
I miss Big Ben
Vulnerable women in bars throughout the south don't.
Me Too
The following year, the Colts signed Vinatieri and he helped them to win the Super Bowl XLI.
18:52 you can miss the kick but you cannot miss the net
classic "there goes your job" moment
The greatest playoff run in NFL history.
2007 giants say hello
Nah
@@mariosnum1fan Yes Sir
@@mariosnum1fan 2004 Patriots! They steam rolled the 2 powerhouse teams in the AFC Conference and beat the Eagles for the back to back Lombardi Trophies!
@@1990Thunderbolt nah they don’t compare to the 2007 giants. The patriots were the best team in the league that year. I believe they were the best in the Brady belichick dynasty aside from 2007
This Colts team was arguably the best Colts team in Manning’s time with Indy. I think had they won this game, they would’ve beaten Denver in the AFC Championship and then beat Seattle in the Super Bowl.
Peyton Manning was a known choker throughout the majority of his career, especially this early. Forehead would've found a way to choke as usual.
@@greatestnitemare6626 Yet he was a first ballot Hall of Famer and universally regarded as one of the best quarterbacks ever.
@@gatienlaurol5793 Well duh…but he was a huge loser when it mattered the most. Cry 😂
@@greatestnitemare6626 Well I don’t see what’s the point of insulting him when in the grand scheme of his career, he was recognized as great.
@@greatestnitemare6626 Do you not know that it's a team game?
The call on Polomalu’s INT could not be more absurd lol
Vanderjadgt was never the same after that kick
As bad as the missed INT call was, the one where the colts jumped offsides on 4th down and they said there was “no call” might be the worst call I’ve ever seen
The immaculate tackle, I'll never forget that jagoff Mike pointing at Cowher when he called that timeout to ice him and it worked 🤣.
That was a hell of a moment when Manning waved the punt team off at his own 35 converted 4th down, then took his team down the field for a TD two plays later. Never saw anything like that before. This game was insane, the Bettis fumble, the Rothlisberger tackle, Steelers stopping Manning and getting the win with the missed FG when it looked like the Colts we're gonna make the comeback, WOW. That was a game right there.
The game that made me a Steelers fan
The most complete team that Peyton ever had.
In Indianapolis anyway.
Except for his idiot kicker
@@ScootyPuffSr7yup. At this time, Peyton had the best offense in the league. When he went to Denver, he had the best defense in the league
@@carlmorrow1600 this 2005 colts team had both
2007 Colts had the #1 scoring defense in the NFL and the #2 offense
Still don't understand how they didn't give Polamalu that interception. The Steelers were nearly robbed of a win.
Edgerrin James and Mike Vanderjagt’s last games as Colts
Talk about the refs being paid off. That Polamalu interception reversal.
Refs tried to give it to Manning with those ridiculous calls.
Dick Enberg’s last postseason game.
People act like Indy was guaranteed a win if the FG was good. That was only to tie the game.
And it was karma for overturning Polamalu's interception 😄
I wish the 95 AFC Championship game was chosen instead, but it is what it is
That game is not talked about enough; it would be good for them to show it on this channel.
Gotta love that they started covering games in HD, this looks like this could have been a game from yesterday not 17 years ago.
The biggest missed opportunity in Peyton’s career
Depends on how you look at it. His style doesn't lend itself to postseason success. He's like a football equivalent to Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis...he made his name beating up on weak competition. But the INSTANT somebody hit him back, he looked very mediocre. I'm a lifelong Colt fan...and I can attest, when the hitting started, Manning STOPPED...
And that was a top seeded 14-2 Colts team that year. They got smacked in the mouth in that first half
Peyton is a choke artist. Even with an interception taken away from Pittsburgh and a 50 yard fumble return, Peyton still didnt get the job done
A lot of twists and turns in this one: the hot start for Roethlisberger and a cold one for Manning, the horrible review call by Pete Morelli, the furious comeback by the Colts, the fumble by Bettis and the tackle by Roethlisberger, the horrible miss by Vanderjagt, and the final NFL playoff game called by the great Dick Enberg.
If only Harper had run down the sideline and not the middle of the field. This is why situational awareness is so important.
Jerome Bettis last season 💪🏾🏈
I love how Dungy, Cowher, Bettis and Manning all said he missed it
this brought back every emotion felt just like I was watching it live😥
Love the reaction replays to the kick. Everyone saying “he missed it” with different emotions.
The Bryant McFadden Pass break up, 18:00 is the reason, he'll never have to buy a beer, in Pittsburgh ever again
Still remember Big Ben making that huge tackle and Mike missing that field goal
that polamalu play was definitely 100% an interception, good to see the officiating was always trash, making people wonder if it's actually rigged...
I Love You NFL Throwback 🏈 Keep It Up.
I remember I was 18 when this game happened. Great game
It's good to revisit this game every once in a while. Thanks for uploading the condensed version. I thought Manning's best years as a pro came in that 2003-2005 stretch for the Colts. I'm still surprised not one of those teams could get to the Super Bowl.
2005 was his best chance due to a down yr by the pats
Because Peyton was a known choker
@@greatestnitemare6626 mommy not renew your Xbox subscription?
@@keegan2463 Cry more that Peyton was a choker lmao
Polamalu was so good.
Remember watching this with my dad. What a game
Maybe the most important play of Big Ben's career next to the winning Super Bowl pass against the Cardinals...
They finessed the Steelers twice and the colts still lost payton ass 😭
Those steelers were used to play a heavy running game and kept the air game for third downs, the way they were aggressive on first quarter was incredible, they beat colts in their own game too early, the awful call on Polamalu interception made it a closer game
Amazing game
Uberjag throwing her helmet was priceless.
Hey I remember this game! I watched this game live in its entirety. And of course, the Super Bowl XL. Great playoff game, and a great Super Bowl in 2006.
People blame the refs too much, but honestly I think the refs blew that super bowl and handed it to the Steelers. I honestly think that.
@@robsmith961 I Mean the NFL themselves apologized for the officiating in that game. It was Jerome Bettis Retirement party anyways they had to send him off.
aint nobody happier for this game than Jerome "The Bus" Bettis... hahahahahahaha
I remember being at that game and walking out the stadium you could hear a pin drop. People just shocked and what just happened. Best 170 bucks I ever spent.
a classic divisional round upset and a damn shocker
I was 15 when i watched this game i never cried so much after this game and i am still tearing up FU Vanderjaght. smdh.
One of best playoff games of this century ..especially at end when Vanderchoke missed the fg 🤣
I wish I could take a handful of these guys and just plug them into my team right now.
Walk down memory lane on a Tuesday night, what the hell, I'll pop a few cool one and relax.
Vanderjagt missed that kick so bad he was never heard from again 😭
Most insane fucking game ive ever seen in my life. I KNEW vanderjagt was missing that kick though. Look at his face before the kick, MELTDOWN CITY.
Mike Vanderjagt’s last game as Colts kicker.
Reggie Wayne was a toe tap god

Troy blitzing the A gaps causing the OL to take the inside threat for the edge to rush freely on the quarterback. Doing your job.
Yes it makes you wonder about all these calls back in the day alot went against Steelers just saying
Big Ben had the most important tackle of the season, as a life long Steelers fan this one was hard to watch at times lol Almost threw my beer through the tv when they robbed Troy of that interception. 😂😂
No need to pump up the home crowd when you're pumping in ariticial noise
Peyton the ultimate CHOKE ARTIST! 😂
He wasn't the most clutch and was rather disappointing in the playoffs, but in the game's history of thousands of games and thousands of players, he was not the ULTIMATE choke artist; get out of here with that.
i was acting like i was watching this live,I cant help it 😂 😂
Till this day I still can’t believe bettis almost fuc it up 😂
GO STEELERS #classic
Imo this was the afc championship that season
People forget how good the Colts were that year. No one gave the Steelers a chance. Epic game. That was an interception by Troy.
Top 10 moments of this game:
1. Jerome Bettis fumble and Ben Roethlisberger miraculous tackle
2. Missed FG by Vanderjagt
3.Troy Polamalu interception reversed
4. Peyton Manning getting sacked in 4th down
5. Bryant McFadden saving the TD on colts last drive
6. Steelers second TD drive
7. Dallas Clark TD
8. Steelers surprising with first TD drive
9. Steelers convert back to back fourth 4th down
10. Jerome Bettis air bus TD
Honorable mentions: Peyton Manning takes out punt team on 4th down and converts, Joey Porter sacks Peyton Manning almost get a safety,
The refs tried so hard to take this from Pittsburgh. The no penalty when the defense jumped and hit the front lineman and Troy’s INT
Ugh, Vanderjagt. Not the first time he's booted my Colts out of the playoffs. That game goes to OT, or Harper doesn't cut inside on the fumble recovery, and we win that game.
If Peyton hits Edge in the flat sooner they score l. Making it 14-7 not 3. Strange seeing Peyton not maximize and capitalize
He was a choker
Dick Enberg was the king of NFL play by play
Dick Enburgh is my favorite broadcaster of all time!
I swear I remember Bill Cowher calling a timeout just before the snap on the final kick to ice him, amd Vanderjagt missed it. Then they came back out after the timeout, and he missed it again. Am I crazy? Or does anyone else remember this?
That absolutely did not happen.
It was cowher and Betis last ride
As a neutral fan it feels like the refs were doing everything they could to give the colts the game
Man I love watching Peyton Manning 💯
Was Vanderjagt liquored up when he kicked that ball?
It wasn’t just him missing the kick, it was like he completely miss kicking the ball. That was one of the worse shanks in NFL history.
Just a reminder that the Steelers are 26-6 against the Colts including the playoff, where they’re 5-0 against Indy.
There was absolutely no reason why the colts lost this. That 2005 team had way too much talent. I am still salty about it to this day.
The 05 Colts were the best best team Manning ever had.
Who knows what would've happened if Indianapolis won this game? If they go on to win the Super Bowl, and the one next year, it would've greatly changed our perception of this Colts team as a potential dynasty.
They could’ve 4 peated. Lost three straight years to the champion. Manning woulda had goat status
You gotta earn GOAT status and Manning couldn't get the job done in January and February often enough. Especially going one-and-done at home.
@@PedroMartinez-tt7lr You realize it's a team game?
@@gbrow1604Let me guess. You think brady isn't the GOAT right?
The refs did everything they could to help the colts stay in game and try to win.How the Polomalu interception was called incomplete was unbelievable and that sack on Manning earlier looked like a safety to me.This game should have never been this close. The colts got punched in the mouth in this game.
It’s unbelievable how much the refs tried to rip this game from us. The no call offsides on Colts and then clearly CLEARLY an interception from Troy P that was taken away. But Steelers had that mojo that took them to Detroit and WON the SB
Both end career with two rings oh well
Nobody gave Pittsburgh a chance.
16:15
Troy was robbed of 2 interceptions that game
HEEEEEEEEEAAAAAATH!!!!
