Good list. What's classified as a slasher is so subjective. I personally wouldn't consider Texas Chainsaw, Psycho, Phantasm, Hellraiser, Candyman, Wolf Creek, Devils Rejects as slashers but if someone said they were I wouldn't argue. My list is 1. Halloween 2. Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Black Christmas 4. Deep Red 5. Tenebrae 6. Scream 7. The Bird with the Crystal Plummage 8. Friday The 13th Part 4. 9. Terror Train 10. Prom Night
My definition of a slasher is this....a killer who stalks multiple victims (on one viction, killing others in his/her path) for the sole purpose of killing them. TCM is NOT a slasher in my book because Leatherface does not stalk. He protects himself. The victims come to him.
I can agree with that. I go back and forth on whether Psycho is a slasher film because I associate slasher films with a body count of over at least 3 or 4. I think Norman only kills two people in that movie. But I definitely agree that Psycho along with Peeping Tom had a huge influence on the genre.
if you think about that...saying that TCM is not a slasher because Leatherface protects himself, in a way, could kind of mean that Friday the 13th Part 2, could not be a slasher. I mean, in the same way that Leatherface is protecting his house and himself, Jason could be protecting his territory from these bitch ass camp counselors lolol. They both are a little slow mentally. I don't know. I might be looking too far into it hahaha. But truly, if u think about that...
10: My Bloody Valentine 09: Terrifier 08: Silent Nigh Deadly Night 07: Scream 06: Psycho II 05: A Nightmare on Elm-Street 04: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 03: Sleep-away Camp 02: Halloween 01: Friday the 13th The Final Chapter
I honestly consider 4 my favorite. It's obvious why it's so fun to me too. The characters and premise are AMAZING. 10 year anniversary. Loomis chasing Michael on his way back (at his most emotional I must say his performance is fantastic to me), then there's Jamie who is really cool to me in the movie and the ending is the perfect way to keep the series going without Michael and it actually makes sense... and then they undo it in 5. There are other reasons, but I just didn't want people to die in it. The 2018 movie and the original both have characters like that too, but I just prefer Halloween 4.
Great list, Lee! It's so nice to see people giving props to Halloween 4! I LOVE Halloween 4! Some of my favorite slasher films are Halloween (1978), Psycho, Halloween 4, Jason Lives, The Final Chapter, Halloween 2 (1981), Friday the 13th Part 2, and Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
To be honest all the Halloweens are good... and what makes them good is the doctor Loomis.. Donald Pleasence the only one who could truly explain and understand Michael...The only one Michael actually seemed to respect... A friend and enemy... number 1 the best though... I kinda link it with 2 as same movie... Carpenter and Debra Hill wrote both scripts I believe
Good list! Here’s mine: 10. Friday the 13th part 2 9. Prom Night 8. The Fog 7. A nightmare on Elm Street 6. Psycho II 5. Sleepaway Camp 4. Black Christmas 3. Scream 2. Halloween 1. Psycho
Thank GOD you included Black Christmas. Billy is a great character, I agree. It was also the first holiday horror film. Halloween was originally conceived of as a sequel to Halloween. Carpenter asked Clark if he was going to do a sequel. He said no, that he was done with horror, but if he were to, he’d have the killer escape from a mental institution on Oct 31, and name it-you guessed it-Halloween. Carpenter took it from there, and the rest is history.
My top 10 10. Maniac 9. The Slumber Party Massacre 8. Halloween 2 (1981) 7. Madman 6. Urban Legend 5. A nightmare on elm st : 3 Dream Warrior's 4. The Burning 3. Friday The 13Th part: 7 The New Blood 2. Sleepaway Camp 1. My Bloody Valentine
Black Christmas started it all. It was a huge influence on Carpenter. Carpenter once asked Bob Clark if he’d ever do a sequel to Black Christmas and Clark said no. Carpenter then asked if he were to do one, what would it be about. Clark’s answer: “..it would be the next year and the guy would have actually been caught, escape from a mental institution, go back to the house, and they would start all over again. And I would call it Halloween.”
I want to say how much i appreciate your channel and your care for us in responding to posts here and on Twitter. means alot. you have a great Thanksgiving.
Great video. My top 10 in no particular order are 1. Halloween ( masterpiece and one of the best horror films of all time) 2. Psycho ( Classic) 3. is a tie between Friday the 13th part 4 the final chapter and part 6 Jason lives ( both are my all time favorite Friday the 13th films) 4. A Nightmare on Elm street (Great film ) 5. Childs play 2 (so much fun and my favorite film in the franchise ) 6. Scream ( such a great film ) 7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ( amazing ) 8. The Strangers ( Great film and very creepy ) 9. You're Next ( great film. Second favorite film that Adam Wingard directed after the Guest witch i don't consider the Guest a Slasher film ) 10. Hatchet 3 ( This might surprise some people but this is my favorite of the 4 Hatchet films )
1. Friday the 13th (1980) - the heyday of the slasher genre in the 80's when they showed blood, gore and decapitation. It led the genre into the new decade and made it more popular than ever..... and copycats would follow. 2. Nightmare on Elm Street- Freddy Krueger brought it up to a different level. Surgically sharpened knives on a glove that'll rip through you as you can't escape sleep. He didn't just kill his victims but play twisted games of cat & mouse with you before slicing, drowning, burning or whatever sick way he could send you to your doom 3. Black Christmas - before Silent Night Deadly Night, Black Christmas took the slasher genre and turned it on it's heels that inspired films like Halloween and Friday the 13th. That and it's kills are enough to put it on the top 10 list. 4. Halloween - You can't have a list without Halloween. Perhaps the first movie that took the horror genre into the new decade . John Carpenters classic created a new, faceless boogyman. No ryme or reason. Just a cold blooded killer who'll stop at nothing until he kills that person. 5. Psycho - Hitchcock's gigantic masterpiece set in first person view from the killers perspective and switches to the people in the film. Sounds familiar? Friday the 13th did it as well. Shows that the films legacy and how it was filmed got passed on thanks to it's influential viewpoint and direction. 6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Cannibalism, psycho's wearing skin masks, a weird eating scene with Grandpa.... Yeah it's influence of the genre shook heads with it's creepy dark morbic tone 7. Scream - Modern day nods to the old horror rules spun in the 90's by the master himself Wes Craven. Unknown killer slices and dices teens who don't abide by the rules.... 8. Child's Play - Talk about any killer doll and the first one that comes up is Chucky. There would be no Annabelle without the 1988 hit about a local killer who transfers his soul into a good guy doll and desperately tries to get out by voodoo and into a boy who first discovers his true identity. 9. Friday the 13th part IV: The Final Chapter - Fourth entry in the series didn't disappoint as it had it all. Better kills, antagonist (Tommy Jarvis) and a great ending to what was going to wrap up the series. 10. Sleepaway Camp - Mysterious killer hacking people up at a camp. Sounds familiar? Like many would afterwards, Sleepaway Camp takes a nod from Friday the 13th and adds a oh so shocking twist at the end of the movie that'll leave you horrified and stunned. With plenty of unique kills in between.
every other movie on your list is 100 times more enjoyable then friday the 13th it’s so boring and it is a copy of halloween you can’t say everything after it is a copycat when it’s a copycat of halloween and a bay of blood two movie made before it and done much better
@@DrumdumsOfficial his list is not solid i get you’re a nice guy but there is no way you think putting friday at one is a solid choice i know you saw that and thought this guy was 10 years old
1. Halloween 2. Psycho 3. Scream 4. A nightmare on elm street 5. Friday the 13th part 4: The final chapter 6. Texas Chainsaw 7. Child's play 2 8. Black Christmas 9. Friday the 13th part 6: Jason lives 10. Happy Death day
My top ten slasher movies: 1.) Psycho ( I know most don't consider it a slasher, but I feel most slasher movies owe it to the success of this movie) 2.) Halloween 1978 3.) Scream 4.) Halloween 2018 5.) Friday The 13th Part 4 6.) My Bloody Valentine 1981 7.) Halloween II 1981 8.) Psycho II 9.) Friday The 13th Part 3 ( more of a guilty pleasure) 10.) Nightmare On Elm Street I always felt that My Bloody Valentine was super underrated, and it's a shame we never got a sequel. Especially considering SPOILER ALERT...........................................................they never caught the killer.
Great list! I have added a few movies to my must watch list now: 7-Black Christmas 6-Bay of Blood 4-Tenebrae 3-The Burning 2-Sleepaway Camp Guess I have been living in a bubble and never heard about any of these!

The list I’ve been requesting for so long! Awesome! Great list Lee. Black Christmas is my #1 favourite slasher film (as well as being my favourite film of all time). Halloween is my #2, then Child’s Play. After that, I don’t really have a set list, but I love A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Prom Night, The Burning, Scream, and many more. Psycho would be way up there, but I don’t really consider it a slasher.
Alice, Sweet Alice is such an underrated slasher classic. That would be high on my list as its creepy and such a devastating movie, the killer is fantastic as well. Cool list though there's some great movies on here :)
I dont have a full list but A Nightmare on Elm Street has always been my favorite. The premise, Wes Craven's directing, Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp's acting, and the sheer creativity of the whole film are unparalleled to me personally.
My favorites are, My Bloody Valentine, The Burning, The House On Sorority Row, Black Christmas, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Scream. Slasher is my favorite sub genre of the horror genre.
So glad to see A Bay of Blood on this list. I too consider it the first example of the modern slasher. Also thrilled to see The Burning on here, as that's always been a personal favorite. You absolutely made the correct choice for #1.

Hey Lee, great list. I completely agree with you about F13: The Final Chapter. A couple of slashers I really enjoy that I think aren't that well known outside the horror community are Pieces and the first Slumber Party Massacre. They're both so much fun. I think I'd also put Texas Chainsaw Massacre on my list. Thanks for the video👍🏻
Great List! For Me: 10: Sleepaway Camp 9 : Final Exam 8 : Stage Fright 7: Splatter University 6: The Prowler 5: Blood Rage 4 : My Bloody Valentine 3: Friday The 13th (Orginal) 2: A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 1: Halloween (Original)

awesome review Lee out of all your videos this was the one i was most intrigued by. There was a couple on your list i have not seen i need to check out i.e The Burning. No Halloween 6? lol. Slasher is my favourite within the horror genre but to do a top 10 would be tough. top 10 horrors is far easier but here goes - 10. Halloween H20 ( i have a massive soft spot for this movie) 9. Child's Play (i think its a slasher!) 8. Friday The 13TH (1980) 7. Halloween 4 6. Valentine 5. Friday The 13TH part 3 4. Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) 3. Pyscho 2. Scream 1. Halloween (1978) I am also a massive fan of movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn but i don't think they are classed as slashers more sort of Hillbilly cannibal type killers!!
Man I wanted to add a few of the Halloweens haha, but I restricted myself to one from each franchise (but I snuck 4 in as an HM haha). Love your list...and yes those are more psychotic horror that slashers in my book.
What an awesome list thank you Lee for even mentioning slasher films I’ve never even heard of or have yet seen. Such as black Christmas I still need to see that, I will be popping in Scream today. I need an escape away from these unprecedented times. Number one should definitely be “ Halloween” Hands Down!🤟🏾🎃 Also thank you for leaving information regard merch, I’d like to show more of some of my support for you and your channel. So I’m going to check out the store, I started to dm you via instagram and ask about the shirts you’re wearing and how to find them so thank you for all that you do and for continuously providing such good content as a horror movie fan to escape into and bring even smiles and lite laughter during this time... I appreciate it always.💛
I kinda miss those days of walking in to your local video store and heading straight for the horror section and having a peak at the back covers for some gore coz I was too young to rent 18s. I'd still go home with haunting images and the bedroom light stayed on lol

@@DrumdumsOfficial just a recommendation. I haven't seen you review 1997's NIGHTWATCH with Ewan McGregor, Josh Brolin, and Nick Nolte. I have a feeling you will love it.
Your horror reviews literally get me through my work week! Being a Horror Fanatic Myself I can definately say you give great points information and thoughts on a lot of these franchises. I would love to see you do a take on the HATCHET Series. thank you!
1. Scream 2.the cabin in the woods 3. I know what you did last summer 4. Scream 4 5. Black Christmas 6. The evil dead 7. Army of darkness 8. The hills have eyes 9. Scream 2 10. Halloween

Halloween 4 is one of my favorites but for some reason when Michael is in hospitals 🏥 creeps me out the most. I think Halloween 6 was what Halloween 4 was to you. Halloween 6 just creeped me tf out. Plus his power walk and everything.
Oh my gawd, I LOVE your list! I love every film on your list, as well as your honorable mentions. The only film I've not yet seen is Bay of Blood (but I'm going to see it before the end of this most perfect, festive month!) I love the style that Argento's classic films have. There is nothing in the horror genre like an Argento film! I actually describe Suspiria, Deep Red, Tenebre, and Phenomena as the most "gorgeous, grotesque horror films in the world." His work is art of the highest form! The only film I would like to see receive more love is Silent Night, Deadly Night. So brutal, so fun, so crazy, creepy, campy & just a great slasher!
In my opinion Mario Bava is the unwitting creator of the slasher genre. His "Bay of Blood", released in 1971, has everything the genre needs to be defined as such and he has clearly anticipated all of them because Black Christmas was released in 1974 while Halloween in 1978. Furthermore, “Blood and Black Lace” is also to be considered. for the importance of having the serial killer in disguise. Another fundamental film is Sergio Martino's “Torso”, released in 1973 if I'm not mistaken, another extremely important film together with Bay of Blood. But Mario Bava is the father of the slasher genre in my opinion.
@@DrumdumsOfficial What is the difference between Friday the 13th and Bay of Blood? None if you think about it. I obviously mean for the style and the details that the slasher genre must have. Except Friday the 13th came out 9 years after Bay of Blood. Another detail about Blood and Black Lace is that it was the first film to have a body count if I'm not mistaken. And the movie came out in 1964.
@@DrumdumsOfficial I need some help as you definitely have a huge collection of slasher movies. I would like to buy the US blu ray editions of Slaughter High, Tourist Trap (uncut version), Graduation Day and Happy Birthday to Me (Silver Collection). Can you tell me if all these versions contain English subtitles please? Thank you
Just an FYI...i just found the book you mentioned at the beginning of your video. It’s on Amazon for $15 new. Thanks for sharing another great video! 👍
Several Argento movies could easily make my list - Suspiria, Deep Red and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage in particular. The original Texas Chainsaw would also definitely make mine. I might also include Inside; I really dig that movie - waiting to see what you think of it. Anyway, great list.
I would classify Inside as one, yes. I don't want to give too much away, but let me just say that one of the reasons I love it is because there are some shockingly violent scenes that are brutal and bloody as hell, and stuff that just makes you cringe imagining how bad something you just saw would frakin' hurt.
My top 5 slasher movies 1. Halloween(1978)(John Carpenter is the master of horror & this is his masterpiece) 2. A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984)(Leave it to Wes Craven to do something original & make possibly one of the greatest movie villains of the 1980s) 3. Candyman(1992)(Tony Todd is one of my favorite horror movie villains & everything about this movie is incredible from the atmosphere to the kills to the setting to the score. It's fantastic) 4. Child's Play(1988)(I'll admit that it was only a few months ago that I watched this movie & it has already became one of my favorite 80s movies of all time) 5. You're Next(2013)(This is the newest movie on my list but it's no less incredible with Adam Windgard has done for us slasher movie fans. This is the reason he's one of my favorite directors working today)
The slasher sub-genre is my favorite of Horror, so making a list of the top films of the genre would be extremely difficult. However, I'll do one anyway. Also, the Prowler is very similar to "My Bloody Valentine" except this time the killer wears Army fatigues. I also believe that 'The Burning' didn't get sequels and was turned into a franchise was because the filmmakers thought people would draw too many comparisons between it and the Friday the 13th films which are no doubt similar in many ways. 1. Halloween (1978) - The granddaddy of them all and one the main officially made these type of films mainstream. 2. Psycho (1960) - Pioneered the genre. 3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) - Some people might not personally consider this a slasher film which I can understand completely, but to me it is. A slasher is a film with a sub-part to high body count and one that involves a killer with sharp implements as their weapon to stalk their prey which is applied in this film after the first three deaths when Leatherface leaves the farm to kill Franklin and 4. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) 5. Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), or Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) - I couldn't pick one Friday the 13th film because every movie left their mark in their own significant way, but the three that I mentioned did it the overall best. 6. Scream (1996) - Best of the 90's 7. Black Christmas (1974) - One of the most underrated slasher films of all time, and without it Halloween wouldn't exist. 8. The Burning (1981) - Some of the best gore effects ever, and possibly of all time. Tom Savini deserves all the credit for making the kills visually look amazing. I can only imagine if Friday the 13th films had the same level gore this movie had. 9. Sleepaway Camp (1983) - One of the best twist endings ever. 10. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) - Many would probably laugh at the idea of this making any list, but the premise and theme of the film focusing on a kid's common fear of Santa Claus and that fear conquering and consuming them always interested me. Plus, it was the most controversial slasher film of the 80's which fueled people's attention to Horror even more.
Hey, just recently discovered your channel and I just wanted to let you know that I think you're doing a great job... keep it up! Great list... I've seen all of them except Tenebrea... but now I want to! And.. if you haven't already, you absolutely have to see The Prowler... one of my personal favs... directed by Joe Zito from Friday 4, make-up effects by Tom Savini... and a final girl that strongly resembles Amy Steel from Friday 2... how can ya go wrong with a lineup like that?? Once again, keep up the great work and... I want that book!! lol
heres my list: halloween '78/halloween 2 '81, psycho '60, alone in the dark '82, friday the 13th '80, prom night '80, graduation day '81, my bloody valentine 3D' 09, scream 2 '97/friday the 13th 4 '84, shocker '89, sleepaway camp 2&3 '88/89 some were ties cause they both had to be included by me they arte just so good!

Tbh your choices really surprised me (eg Bay of blood, the burning and no.4) because mine were more well known and all, but I went and researched the 3 and they really sound gruesome and entertaining-my type of movie. Just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to these new ones and hopefully I’ll get more recommendations as good as these ones from you in the future
Great list, Lee! I think you're really going to dig Dario Argento's Opera, one of his best slasher movies, aside from the laughable ending that is. And Sleepless, too. Enjoy!
I watched The Prowler after seeing My Bloody Valentines and really liked it, its another one that Tom Savini worked on and some of the kills are excellent and the killer is mystique. Another decent slasher if you haven't seen it is See No Evil with Kane..the story is depending on who you ask, I think its okay, but the kill scenes are brutal..highly recommended.
Technically these are slasher movies, because they follow the same formula: The alien and predator movies, specifically Alien 1 and 3, and Predator 1 and 2. It's about someone ore something that stalks and murders their victims one by one.
I got the book for £20 when it first came out! I hear it's worth a lot more now. I also love the authors website. My top ten 1 Halloween. 2. A nightmare on elm street (1984) 3. Halloween (1978) 2. Alice sweet alice (1976) 1. A nightmare on elmstreet dream warriors (1987)
Jackie Earle Haley was imo the best part of the remake. A delightfully chilling marriage of Freddy prime and Cornball Freddy. He's no Englund, but a fine incarnation of The Dream Demon nonetheless.
My list the burning, curtains, the original black christmas , the original my bloody valentine , the original prom night , terror train. Tourist trap , friday the 13th, halloween , trick r treat , idle hands
Jason leaves his territory to kill Alice in the beginning of the movie.
oooooo, good point lolololol. I was just playing devils advocate
"we horror fans don't get scared that often, we just like the rush!" I love you, Lee!
Love you too Lucas!!
Slashers are my favorite sub genre of movies
Oh me too!
Same
Mine too. I have been searching for good ones I have seen and forget about or ones I haven’t seen. I used to check net the sites one weren’t good.
Couldn’t agree more!
10: My Bloody Valentine
09: Terrifier
08: Silent Nigh Deadly Night
07: Scream
06: Psycho II
05: A Nightmare on Elm-Street
04: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
03: Sleep-away Camp
02: Halloween
01: Friday the 13th The Final Chapter
I like your list a lot but I would move terrifier it was way freakier and menacing then psycho 2 awesome list. LoL
What about Wrong Turn series,
High Tension,
Eden lake,
Frontier
Didn’t really like Terrifier, thought it was pretty bad but hey good list anyway.
Thanks for saving me 12 minutes... Terrifier is a piece of shit.
Finally, someone else who loves Halloween 4
nickthemusicnerd27 Oh hell yeah!!
nickthemusicnerd27 ,the mask is my favorite,he so shocked
number 4 was definitely better than numbers 2,5, 6, etc
I honestly consider 4 my favorite. It's obvious why it's so fun to me too. The characters and premise are AMAZING. 10 year anniversary. Loomis chasing Michael on his way back (at his most emotional I must say his performance is fantastic to me), then there's Jamie who is really cool to me in the movie and the ending is the perfect way to keep the series going without Michael and it actually makes sense... and then they undo it in 5. There are other reasons, but I just didn't want people to die in it. The 2018 movie and the original both have characters like that too, but I just prefer Halloween 4.
its my fav behind the first.
All great choices man! Love every one of them.
I'm afraid to take a shower, because of "Jaws", not "Psycho"...I need help.
I've never seen a shark in a shower. :p
I'm afraid of water and showering, and also cleanliness, and TMI ;)
That's what's so damn creepy about them... You know they are there but you just can't see them :)
Hahahahahahahahaha!
Why is Jaws going to come through the water faucet wow
Good list! Here’s mine:
10. Friday the 13th part 2
9. Prom Night
8. The Fog
7. A nightmare on Elm Street
6. Psycho II
5. Sleepaway Camp
4. Black Christmas
3. Scream
2. Halloween
1. Psycho
If Psycho made people afraid of showers the Shinning made me afraid of baths. 😲
OMG yes!!
Room 237 is nightmare fuel incarnate.
TCM made me scared to go in gas stations
Edward McKenzie oh yes! The heart pounding sound makes it incredibly haunting!
Well in my opinion physco is better
Thank GOD you included Black Christmas. Billy is a great character, I agree. It was also the first holiday horror film. Halloween was originally conceived of as a sequel to Halloween. Carpenter asked Clark if he was going to do a sequel. He said no, that he was done with horror, but if he were to, he’d have the killer escape from a mental institution on Oct 31, and name it-you guessed it-Halloween. Carpenter took it from there, and the rest is history.
Yes Black Christmas is essential horror.
I even like the remake from 2006 (i think)
My top 10
10. Maniac
9. The Slumber Party Massacre
8. Halloween 2 (1981)
7. Madman
6. Urban Legend
5. A nightmare on elm st : 3 Dream Warrior's
4. The Burning
3. Friday The 13Th part: 7 The New Blood
2. Sleepaway Camp
1. My Bloody Valentine
Fantastic list! The Maniac remake is so good!
Cristal Magana
Thank you for recommend me for that video it was a really good watch
The burning is a great one!
Ahh a man of culture I see Halloween 2 is my favorite of the series
Black Christmas started it all. It was a huge influence on Carpenter. Carpenter once asked Bob Clark if he’d ever do a sequel to Black Christmas and Clark said no. Carpenter then asked if he were to do one, what would it be about. Clark’s answer:
“..it would be the next year and the guy would have actually been caught, escape from a mental institution, go back to the house, and they would start all over again. And I would call it Halloween.”
I want to say how much i appreciate your channel and your care for us in responding to posts here and on Twitter. means alot. you have a great Thanksgiving.
Great video. My top 10 in no particular order are
1. Halloween ( masterpiece and one of the best horror films of all time)
2. Psycho ( Classic)
3. is a tie between Friday the 13th part 4 the final chapter and part 6 Jason lives ( both are my all time favorite Friday the 13th films)
4. A Nightmare on Elm street (Great film )
5. Childs play 2 (so much fun and my favorite film in the franchise )
6. Scream ( such a great film )
7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ( amazing )
8. The Strangers ( Great film and very creepy )
9. You're Next ( great film. Second favorite film that Adam Wingard directed after the Guest witch i don't consider the Guest a Slasher film )
10. Hatchet 3 ( This might surprise some people but this is my favorite of the 4 Hatchet films )
Great list! I need to give Hatchet 3 a watch.
Hatchet 3 is my favorite of the series as well
Blu ray Addict the strangers is so good but no one looks at it
@@jbbbedc8300 I agree! I love the strangers. It was SO scary because it could really happen just because you're home.
Fun Fact: The original My Bloody Valentine is Quentin Tarantino’s favorite slasher movie.
Fun Fact: That's not a fun fact.
Yes, it is@@111highgh
He didn't just kill his victims but play twisted games of cat & mouse with you before slicing, drowning, burning or whatever sick way he could send you to your doom
Yeah it's influence of the genre shook heads with it's creepy dark morbic tone
Solid list and great write-up!
@@DrumdumsOfficial thank you. Appreciate the feedback
What year? I typed in black Christmas and found 3 movies
Is it the 2006?, 70s or 2019?
every other movie on your list is 100 times more enjoyable then friday the 13th it’s so boring and it is a copy of halloween you can’t say everything after it is a copycat when it’s a copycat of halloween and a bay of blood two movie made before it and done much better
@@DrumdumsOfficial his list is not solid i get you’re a nice guy but there is no way you think putting friday at one is a solid choice i know you saw that and thought this guy was 10 years old
Halloween stole from Black Christmas, then Friday the 13th stole from Halloween, then the 80s stole from Friday.
Haha yep. That about sums it up.
There were Slasher movies before black Xmas.
They all stole from Psycho.
Black Christmas took stuff from Pyshco and Peeping Tom. All the best have inspiration from something that came before.
its called inspiration not "taking" but halloween tops them all, no matter which one came first.
1. Halloween
2. Psycho
3. Scream
4. A nightmare on elm street
5. Friday the 13th part 4: The final chapter
6. Texas Chainsaw
7. Child's play 2
8. Black Christmas
9. Friday the 13th part 6: Jason lives
10. Happy Death day
My top ten slasher movies:
1.) Psycho ( I know most don't consider it a slasher, but I feel most slasher movies owe it to the success of this movie)
2.) Halloween 1978
3.) Scream
4.) Halloween 2018
5.) Friday The 13th Part 4
6.) My Bloody Valentine 1981
7.) Halloween II 1981
8.) Psycho II
9.) Friday The 13th Part 3 ( more of a guilty pleasure)
10.) Nightmare On Elm Street
I always felt that My Bloody Valentine was super underrated, and it's a shame we never got a sequel. Especially considering SPOILER ALERT...........................................................they never caught the killer.
Great list! I have added a few movies to my must watch list now:
7-Black Christmas

Good list, but....where's My Bloody Valentine (1981) or Just Before Dawn (1981) or Rituals (1976)? Bah!
no texas chainsaw massacre? thats wrong
No problem man! This was fun to put together!
Alice, Sweet Alice is such an underrated slasher classic. That would be high on my list as its creepy and such a devastating movie, the killer is fantastic as well. Cool list though there's some great movies on here :)
This was awesome, Lee! Keep it up man.
Thank you Ryan!
Great list!
Great list Lee!!!I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to slashers but the original Halloween will always be my #1
Accept no substitutes. The original Halloween is unbeatable!

Love love love Sleepaway Camp !! Saw it for my first time a few weeks ago. The ending !!!
Luke Cage And I just met Felissa Rose this weekend. Absolutely sweetheart!

awesome review Lee out of all your videos this was the one i was most intrigued by. There was a couple on your list i have not seen i need to check out i.e The Burning. No Halloween 6? lol. Slasher is my favourite within the horror genre but to do a top 10 would be tough. top 10 horrors is far easier but here goes -
10. Halloween H20 ( i have a massive soft spot for this movie)
9. Child's Play (i think its a slasher!)
8. Friday The 13TH (1980)
7. Halloween 4
6. Valentine
5. Friday The 13TH part 3
4. Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)
3. Pyscho
2. Scream
1. Halloween (1978)
I am also a massive fan of movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn but i don't think they are classed as slashers more sort of Hillbilly cannibal type killers!!
Black Christmas is so great. I've done a part 2 and 3 of this too Michael.
I kinda miss those days of walking in to your local video store and heading straight for the horror section and having a peak at the back covers for some gore coz I was too young to rent 18s. I'd still go home with haunting images and the bedroom light stayed on lol
Oh me too. That was part of the whole experience.
If Tenebrae wasn't on the list I might have unsubbed haha. First video with a shoutout that I didn't get prior warning. Thanks Leesus, love you babe!
No problem brother. If I say Tenebrae...I say Dylan Clancy.
Drumdums It thinks it's fair to mention me in every Argento/Bava review😛😇

Halloween 4 is one of my favorites but for some reason when Michael is in hospitals 🏥 creeps me out the most. I think Halloween 6 was what Halloween 4 was to you. Halloween 6 just creeped me tf out. Plus his power walk and everything.
I love Michael in Halloween 6. He was pretty scary. Vicious and brutal.
Bava was a genius. You might be right.
Awesome! It's a great book for sure.
Top 5 slasher movies:
5. Sleepaway camp
4. The Texas chain saw massacre
3. Jaws (to me, it's a slasher)
2. Halloween
1. Friday the 13th
What about THE terminator??? LOL slasher?
Several Argento movies could easily make my list - Suspiria, Deep Red and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage in particular. The original Texas Chainsaw would also definitely make mine. I might also include Inside; I really dig that movie - waiting to see what you think of it.
Anyway, great list.
Can't wait to check out more of Argento's. Is Inside a slasher?
I would classify Inside as one, yes. I don't want to give too much away, but let me just say that one of the reasons I love it is because there are some shockingly violent scenes that are brutal and bloody as hell, and stuff that just makes you cringe imagining how bad something you just saw would frakin' hurt.
My top 5 slasher movies
1. Halloween(1978)(John Carpenter is the master of horror & this is his masterpiece)
2. A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984)(Leave it to Wes Craven to do something original & make possibly one of the greatest movie villains of the 1980s)
3. Candyman(1992)(Tony Todd is one of my favorite horror movie villains & everything about this movie is incredible from the atmosphere to the kills to the setting to the score. It's fantastic)
4. Child's Play(1988)(I'll admit that it was only a few months ago that I watched this movie & it has already became one of my favorite 80s movies of all time)
A slasher is a film with a sub-part to high body count and one that involves a killer with sharp implements as their weapon to stalk their prey which is applied in this film after the first three deaths when Leatherface leaves the farm to kill Franklin and
4. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
6. Scream (1996) - Best of the 90's
I want that book!! lol
Nice! There's a few that I haven't seen, and they're going on my list "To Watch" now. 👍👍
Awesome! Yeah I recently discovered a few of these myself, and they're that good!

Joshua Nesbitt don’t forget Deep Red
Nice list. So happy that Scream made it on.
Oh definitely man. Scream is a classic!
Great list...props for putting TENEBRAE on it👍My Top10 would be:
1. Halloween

4. Friday the 13th Part II
5. Tenebrae
6. Body Count
7. The Burning
8. Sleepaway Camp
9. Slumber Party Massacre
10. Torso
Oh yeah Tenebrae should be SOOO much more popular than it is. Argento slasher magic!
@@DrumdumsOfficial Definitely...I've made this list according to the fact how many times I've seen those movies..."the more often, the better..."...actually, I should make my "top30"...
#10. Psycho #9. Friday The 13th Part 2 #8. A Nightmare On Elm Street #7. Child's Play 2 #6. Black Christmas #5. Scream #4. Friday The 13th Part 4 The Final Chapter #3. The Burning #2. Sleepaway Camp #1. Halloween
No problem. I wanted to put together a good mix of popular horror with some that my viewers might not have heard of. Makes for a fun list.
Great list, Lee! I think you're really going to dig Dario Argento's Opera, one of his best slasher movies, aside from the laughable ending that is. And Sleepless, too. Enjoy!
I'm looking forward to that one...and Deep Red!
Deep Red, of course, how could I forget. Let me tell you, the twist ending will blow your panties away, lol !
Nice. I mentioned it too. Scoring reminds me of Phenomena where Argento started using rock and heavy metal songs at times, haha. Opera is wild.
If Tom Savini worked on it, then I have to see it.
Technically these are slasher movies, because they follow the same formula:
The alien and predator movies, specifically Alien 1 and 3, and Predator 1 and 2.
It's about someone ore something that stalks and murders their victims one by one.
I can't argue with that. I was really ranking more traditional slashers, but you're right.
I got the book for £20 when it first came out! I hear it's worth a lot more now. I also love the authors website.
My top ten 1 Halloween. 2. Black Christmas 3 Friday the 13th part 4 4 dream warriors. 5 the burning. 6 my bloody valentine 7 scream. 8 psycho. 9 just before dawn. 10 behind the mask the rise of Leslie vernon.
Sleepaway Camp :) can anyone explain how the curling iron could kill Judy? Maim, yes... maybe shock but not death?
Haha I think it was more for shock value.
10. Hatchet
9. Scream
8. You're Next
7. Child's play 2
6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
5. Nightmare on elm street
4. Friday the 13th part 6: jason lives
3. Nightmare on elm street 3: Dream warriors
2. Friday the 13th the final chapter
1. Halloween
Badass list. Picked up the book. Thanks.
Thank you!
This is a pretty good top 10 slasher list. My list would be very similar with just a few change's.
Nice! Thanks for watching.
Slumber Party Massacre is so underrated. It’s a lot of fun.
Agreed. Love SPM.
@@johnzoro6936 I’ve been meaning to watch that one.
LOVED your list, esp Valentine and Friday 4. Kay
This is my list.
10. Blood and black lace (1964)
9. Deep red (1975)
8. The Texas chainsaw massacre (1974)
7. Peeping Tom (1960)
6. Psycho 2 (1983)

4. A nightmare on elm street (1984)
3. Halloween (1978)
2. Alice sweet alice (1976)
1. A nightmare on elmstreet dream warriors (1987)
Jackie Earle Haley was imo the best part of the remake. A delightfully chilling marriage of Freddy prime and Cornball Freddy. He's no Englund, but a fine incarnation of The Dream Demon nonetheless.
Jurassic Park spoiled me as a kid, Velociraptors are scarier than any human killers!
My list the burning, curtains, the original black christmas , the original my bloody valentine , the original prom night , terror train. Tourist trap , friday the 13th, halloween , trick r treat , idle hands
