Folks, just to clear up the Brolin confusion regarding Amityville, I was comparing Reynold’s performance to Nicholson’s performance from The Shining. Sorry for the confusion. What are some of your favorite horror remakes?
My favorite horror remakes are Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn Of The Dead, and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. The cast in that movie is phenomenal! Veronica Cartwright, Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy, and Jeff Goldblum. LEGENDARY.
That's one of my favorite remakes too. Actually think it's way better than the original. Also think The Last House on the Left remake is better than the original.
@@ryan4ever956 Wes Craven's _The Last House on the Left_ is a masterpiece. Like: one of the reasons horror in the 70's and 80's was so good. Artful. Intelligent. Provocative. Poignant. Fascinating. Challenging. Experimental in the best way. So... YUCK at anyone suggesting that random, routine, cliched, run of the mill remake could ever touch it on its best day! Even though I really have to say I was expecting the remake to be the worst it was only below average with a few bad moments. Not even that terrible, the few bad moments.
@dbgeek You might want to check out _Motel Hell_ then, it's the weirdest hillbilly/cannibal movie you will ever see. It's more like a slasher (the killer even wears a mask at the end and... you have to see that) where it takes place over several days and the cops are baffled all the time and... I WISH I could explain why it's so funny, and glorious. But that would be giving away some of the most unbelievable things... Just give it a chance. It's like nothing you have ever seen, anywhere.
@@videodromeTVversion I'm a big fan of 70s and 80s horror. Being that I was born in 79 but to me the original Last House isn't that great to me. the stupid cops acting all Smokey and the bandit just ruined it for me. And I just wasnt scared of anything in that movie. I'm sure if I saw it when it first came out I would probably liked it better. I didn't see it till I was 21 years old too. Just my opinion
@@ryan4ever956 Well, yeah I saw it when I was like 18- not a big difference, and I didn't like it either. When I first saw it. But I think if you watch a lot of art films and older horror films (which of course are art films themselves), your tastes just mature / Criterion-ize on their own. _The Last House on the Left_ 1972 is in that Greatest Horror Films of All-Time echelon, people just have to re-evaluate their own expectations (etc). Give it a real chance. Remember that things aren't always... well, like you said: the stupid cops... Well, cops are supposed to be stupid. Cops are bad. You can't trust them, they are a tool of capitalism. AND you have to remember the social, cultural, political attitudes of the 60's and 70's and Wes Craven was a dark-hippie, anti-government, rebel type person at that time. Why we he portray the cops with any sense of competence or trustworthiness? You can't trust cops. If you were a young person in the 60's and 70's, cops were the worst.
I'm stuck between The Thing or the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers for my favorite, but they both modernize their source material wonderfully. Great list!
When the _Texas Chainsaw Massacre_ remake came out in 2003, and I was 20 years old, they did a Making-of special on the E! tv channel network. When they started showing clips, I got MAD. At how awful the movie looked. The characters looked painfully stupid and unbelievably insufferable. The story looked like roadkill. It looked like a disaster. And I was mad for *years* afterward. I bad-mouthed the movie everywhere I went. Even though I'd never seen it, there's almost no way a movie ever takes bad stories, bad characters, no interesting visual design, boring camerawork (etc) and somehow makes a great movie... So, I finally watched the movie. THIS year. For the first time. I'm 36 years old. And, do you know what? I was right about Every. God. Damn. Thing. I. Said. About. The. Movie. It's one of the worst horror films I have ever seen in my life. One of the freaking worst. By a mile. Top 20 worst I've ever seen. And every single person who has ever praised this film has had a hand in turning horror down the wrong path.
@@trevorrovert3103 In your dreams: the 2003 remake sucked. Deal with it. If you like action thrillers, it was okay. I'm a horror fan, I like horror films. TCM 2003 might be an okay action thriller but it sucks as a horror film.
Perfect list. Wasn't completely on board with the Carrie remake though. I would have definitely switched The Hills Have Eyes for it. One that I'd say as an honorable mention maybe is The Wolfman. Also you really should watch the original Maniac. You won't regret it.
@@ErmacFellwalker Okay... that's really gross. EW! MY SKIN is crawling as we speak! I know I was once a weirdo who said things like 1968's _Night of the Living Dead_ didn't leave me breathless and doing the _Wayne's World_ "we're not worthy!" but then I just grew up and my tastes matured and the 1990 remake is lousy. The 1968 original is Top 10 greatest horror films ever made. So........
I suppose I could re-watch the _Piranha_ remake but the original 1978 _Piranha_ is already one of the greatest eco-horror films, monster movies, "the government is evil" horror films ever. God, kids, you really need to watch more 70's horror films.
Gaby Gibson Thank you Gaby! I enjoy putting honorable mentions in there because it’s kind of a cheat for me. I always have more that I want to mention that don’t quite make the top 10. And thank you so much for watching my videos.
10. Carrie 9. Let Me In 8. Friday the 13th 7. Thirteen Ghosts 6. House of Wax 5. Dawn of the Dead 4. My Bloody Valentine 3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. The Hills Have Eyes 1. Maniac
Wow... those are all not-good movies. All 10. Congratulations. You seriously failed at the task... _Maniac_ was almost good but it needs major work in the dialogue and backstory writing departments.
videodromeTVversion you are either really bad at trolling or do not understand the concept that movies are subjective and therefore, there isn’t a way to “fail” in your words.
@@Tjsuping3 Of course I'm bad at trolling - who would you say is really good at it? I don't think anyone can be good at trolling. Who dictates what the qualities of a good troll are? What are the standards?
@@Tjsuping3 Fact of the matter is: people just have a pretty good grasp on what makes horror great. It's only occasionally a matter of taste because tastes are always striving for consistency and legitimacy. There is most certainly an area of semi-objective quality when it comes to horror if you're passionate about it. I think you just view horror as indistinguishable from any other genre. You don't care if bad movies destroy horror altogether, and don't get defensive. I'm not blaming you or "shading" you at all. Just saying you have awful taste.
My favorite hands down horror remake is Phillip Kaufman's 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which elevates the paranoia level. Great cast, great use of camera and color, and some really cool moments like Brooke Adams twirling her eyes, or the phone cord that descends into the wall. This is a remake that I absolutely LOVE! Also, I like the original Maniac. Joe Spinell is always a treat to watch, plus we have the ever fetching Caroline Munro.
Loved hearing your list and insight! Made me realize there’s still a few movies I need to dive into, instead of putting off. So happy that Jane Levy/Evil Dead has been getting all the love recently, as well as Suspiria.
1. John Carpenter's The Thing 2. The Blob (88) 3. Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead 4. The Fly 5. Evil Dead 6. Suspiria 7. Friday the 13th 8. IT 9. Fright Night 10. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Hard to top your #1 on any remake list. It's one of the best horror movies of all time in general and besides Halloween; The Thing would be the film that John Carpenter would probably be best remembered for. Best sense of dread and loneliness ever put to film. Great list Lee!
That's so sad! _Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York_ and _Starman_ are just better. Poor John Carpenter, you know he's not going to be around forever. We've already lost Bob Clark, H.G. Lewis, Tobe Hooper, Larry Cohen, Wes Craven, and George Romero. All the other masters of horror are in their 70's now. Stuart Gordon, Joe Dante, Argento, Cronenberg, Carpenter, De Palma... they're all going to die VERY soon. Then we'll be left with Peter Jackson and Sam Raimi who will probably never make another horror film between them. Then when they die... it'll just be... Eli Roth, Lucky McKee, and Rob Zombie. Ti West has a tiny bit of talent. I guess he could amaze us all. Some day. Thank God for Mike Flanagan and Karyn Kusama. I guess they're going to be the genre's saviors. If only Rob Zombie would sober up, artistically speaking. _31_ was so friggin' bad...
Great Ranking Lee! Here's My Top 5 Favorite Horror Remakes! 😎👍 5: Evil Dead (2013) 4: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) 3: Friday The 13th (2009) 2: The Fly (1986) 1: The Thing (1982)
The Wolfman is my favorite Horror remake of all time. Breaks my heart how underrated it is, almost feels like an A24 film in how focused it is on character and theme.
I bought that on a whim for whatever reason, was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Only thing I didn't care for was the CGI but other than that it's a really solid film.
The problem with the remake was the use of CGI turning the transformation which was forced upon Rick Baker and the fact that bencio del torro SUCKED....hes a great actor but you can tell he had no passion for that project....anthony Hopkins was EXCELLENT....and finally the Wolfman reveal was so blatantly obvious. But overall it was better than it was treated
thank you for giving love to the CRAZIES and MANIAC!!!!!! never really ranked them but it may be my favorite horror remake. and like you have never seen original and dont think i will. yet, another fun video!
I've only seen half of the remakes you mentioned, but a modern horror remake that i can't get enough of is The Hills Have Eyes (2006). It's so thrilling all the way through with a awesome cast and it literally has my favourite horror quote of all time with that being when Lizard is holding the baby saying 'Big, fat and juicy', it makes me laugh every time. Great video!
"It can't top the Brian De Palma original, because it's Brian De Palma." Best sentence in the review. I just edited a big career retrospective on De Palma a few weeks ago; the guy doesn't get enough credit, especially compared to the other directors in his circle like Spielberg and Scorsese. I called the number one from the start, but I'd have questioned your sanity if you'd picked anything but The Thing, one of the few films I'd venture to label as perfect.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel was one of the very first horror movies I've watched. And I was really amazed by it. Great list once again. It is strange that it took so long to find your channel.
Awesome list Lee!! I have seen all of these and yes the Hills Have eyes, however where would you put it? LOL. These movies all have made a mark one way or another for a reason.
Solid List all-around. If I had to do a Top 10, my list would look something like this (in no particular order): 10. EVIL DEAD (2013) 9. LET ME IN (2010) 8. IT (2017) 7. THE RING (2002) 6. INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1978) 5. THE CRAZIES (2010) 4. DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004) 3. THE FLY (1986) 2. THE BLOB (1988) 1. THE THING (1982) *Honorable Mentions = NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990) FRIDAY THE 13th (2009) THE HILLS HAVE EYES (2006) THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (2009) FRIGHT NIGHT (2011)
Except for Evil Dead 2013, I would pretty much agree with your list. Really did not like that one. The Hills Have Eyes 2006 is the best horror remake in my opinion, as is Night of the Living Dead 1990 and Dawn of the Dead 2004.
Gotta go with Dawn Of The Dead/The Fly/The Blob/Thirteen Ghosts/The Thing/House On Haunted Hill/Let Me In/Friday The Thirteenth as some of my favorite remakes...
3:17 #10: My Bloody Valentine 3D 3:52 #9: The Last House On The Left 4:36 #8: Carrie (2013) 5:06 #7: Suspiria 5:49 #6: The Crazies 6:50 #5: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 7:34 #4: Maniac 8:14 #3: Evil Dead 9:14 #2: The Fly 9:59 #1: The Thing
Great video! I agree with every title on this list. The remakes I enjoyed the most that were not on your list was "The Hills Have Eyes", "Straw Dogs", and the remake\sequel to "The Town That Dreaded Sundown"
THANK YOU for mentioning Carrie! I thought I was the only one. POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERTS. Reviews I'd read said that Chloë Grace Moretz was "too pretty" to play someone as "plain" as Carrie White, but it's not far-fetched to believe that someone who's been mentally and verbally abused all her life wouldn't be aware of her beauty and would believe she's plain and ordinary. We get to see her coming to terms with her sexuality, which in a way parallel's her burgeoning, extra-ordinary powers and similarly coming to terms with them. I loved cast; the mean girls were perfect, and I love, love, love seeing Judy Greer in anything. My two complaints about the cast: I wish Amy Irving had a cameo (in an organic way, of course, not just crammed in like how MCU/Disney does with Stan Lee); and I know you loved Julianne Moore's performance, but I thought there was room for more crazy without being overly dramatic or hammy. The opening scene didn't have the same emotional impact as the original, but I loved how social media is used in a believable way. The only thing that I had a problem with overall was the prom scene after Carrie's doused in pigs blood: She "floats" from the stage, and the CGI was just really bad; it reminded me of the scene in Exorcist: The Beginning when Izabella Scorupco's character is "floating" and chasing Father Merrin in the tunnels below whatever church the're in. PS: Sorry for the length of the post, guess I'm kinda passionate about the movie :)
Scream 5, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022, Child's Play 2019, Halloween 2018, The Hills Have Eyes 2006 and Friday the 13th 2009. These really got my emotions really high for what we are to expect from Halloween Ends and the new Scream trilogy, and for Jeepers Creepers Reborn.
Very good top 10 brother I have to make my own list now I'll bring this topic up at work today thanks for another great video Lee have a great day brother.
Great list Lee, so happy to see The Crazies in here, it’s so underrated. I did just watch the original Maniac as well on Shudder I believe. It was fantastic. Highly recommend you check it out! Keep up the good work.
Great video. Some of my favorite remakes are in no specific order, just of the top of my head: 1. Suspiria 2. The Thing 3. The Hills Have Eyes 4. Maniac 5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 6. Dawn Of The Dead 7. I Spit On Your Grave 8. The Blob 9. My Bloody Valentine 10. The Ring
Nice to see MBV3D on here. I bought that movie on a whim for novelty cause it's 3D, didn't expect much. It's one of my favorite slashers. Great kills, engaging story, filmed well, Tom Atkins. The nudity scene is hilarious too. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it seems like it goes on forever. Kudos to that actress, how awkward that must have been, lol.
My top 5 favorite horror movie remakes. 1. A nightmare on elm street 2010 2. Friday the 13th 2009 3. The Texas chainsaw massacre 2003 4. Pet sematery 2019 5. Evil dead 2013
The Thing (1982), The Blob, Maniac, The Fly, Evil Dead, Let Me In, The Hills have Eyes are some of my favorite remakes. The Maniac og is a must watch Lee, you should really check it out. I know you’ll like it!
I am a huge Romero fanatic but, I enjoy the remake of The Crazies more than his original, I think that it was far more successful in achieving what Romero was originally going for. Love your channel, keep up the good work brother!
Always hesitate to use best/greatest online so I am going to go with my 10 favorite horror remakes: 10) Willard ('03) - Crispin Glover is great in this 9) Texas Chainsaw ('03) - very effective, grimy atmosphere 8) Body Snatchers ('93) - loved the practical effects in this iteration 7) Fright Night ('11) - I found it funny and Colin Farrell is very intimidating 6) Invasion of the Body Snatcher ('78) - super creepy with an all star cast 5) Evil Dead ('13) - gore-galore with a great Jane Levy performance 4) Let Me In ('10) - I like the original slightly more but Matt Reeves puts his own flare on this remake 3) The Thing ('82) - great pacing with incredible effects 2) The Fly ('86) - excellent effects with a surprising emotional climax 1) The Blob ('88) - so much fun with great practical effects in the first two acts. Honorable mentions: The Hitcher ('07), Silent Night ('12), Invaders from Mars ('86)
The Amityville Horror remake is underrated af in my opinion. Ryan Reynolds was just a comedic type actor until that point and he really nailed the descent into madness in the remake. Scared the shit out of me as a kid, great movie!
1. The thing 2. Maniac 3. Suspiria 4. The fly 5. Night of the living dead 6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 7. Amityville Horror 8. Evil Dead 9. The hills have eyes 10. The last house on the left
So nice to see someone else who also likes the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I really like the remake craze that it started (like you mentioned), but still, I've seen people shite on it way more than is warranted. Speaking of which, I should really check out your ranking video for that series...
Ohhh, hell yes, Lee! The Crazies is so underrated & damn crazy, creepy, fun, thrilling!!! The original is quite good, as well. Check it out when you can. I concur with nearly your entire list! And, damn....God bless R. Lee Ermey. He was a helluva man & charismatic actor who served our country so nobly & proudly. ❤
Late to this one Lee great rankings. Mine are The Thing, House of Wax 1953 (not that horredous attempt at a movie with Paris Hilton in 05) ,The Crazies, Texas Chainsaw,Friday the 13th, The Amityville Horror, Dawn of the Dead, The Town that Dreaded Sundown,Evil Dead,Fright Night. HM Last House
I haven't met a person yet who could tell me why _The Blob_ remake was any good. It's actually a rip-off of 3 *MUCH* better horror movies, combined: there are pieces it stole from _C.H.U.D., Alien,_ and _Piranha_ (1978). All of which are way better and are more grounded in their politics (I hope you could tell _The Blob_ 1988 was very political). _Blob_ 1988 feels cheap (creatively) and uninspired. The characters are so boring and lifeless. There's nothing interesting about the music. There's like no style. It's ugly to look at. The story is hackneyed.
@@videodromeTVversion I'm not sure what THE BLOB film from 88 you watched, but it's legit AMAZING and does some VERY ballsy things with character death. Some of the most gruesome practical I've ever seen as well, but to each their own since art is subjective. I love that movie.
@@JaimeEnFuego I've seen it more than once. It's a rip-off and bordering on being an action movie. Wes Craven's _Shocker_ for comparison is a much worse movie but it understands how to balance action and horror so much better.
@@gojira760 It kind of is, since there was a 1951 film with the same plot called _The Thing from Another World_ - the only differences are the look of the monster and there was a female crew member and a greenhouse. That does not make Carpenter's version an original.
Fantastic list, Lee! I agree with most of those choices. Never seen Suspiria or Maniac, so I’ll have to check those out. Ones not mentioned by you that I loved were The Ring, The Grudge, House on Haunted Hill (bad ending, but most of the movie was great), Thirteen Ghosts, The Hills Have Eyes, and House of Wax. As far as Amityville Horror, I felt the remake had more stellar performances, but that the original was just scarier bc of mood, music, and tension. Also, because I didn’t know what was coming when I first saw the original and the remake suffered from that.
Dear Lee! I love Suspiria and Evil Dead remakes as well. And of course classics - The Thing and The Fly... Those are amazing! It's just one awesome remake that comes to my mind you have not mentioned... The Blob! It's just so entertaining. Love it!
@@DrumdumsOfficial actually its a remake of a remake, there was death game 1977 and then vicious and nude 1980. When I think about it, does It 2017 count as a remake, then this should've been Nr 1 probably ?
Good ranking video! One remake that I thought was good was the Omen remake. Another one that I thought was a good remake was the Child's Play remake. I liked that one because they modernized it, but with the exception of them calling Chuckey Charls Lee Ray, and making him an AI doll, the kills I thought were really good, and I liked how they made Andy a bit older too.
This was a great list that makes me want to go back and rewatch some of them. I had no idea The Thing was a remake; that movie is so perfect I can’t image the original could come close. I like TCM remake better than the original.

I enjoyed your list and don't have a problem with any of the movies you put on it, although I will acknowledge I haven't seen the new version of Maniac. I agree with what you said about I Spit On Your Grave and Last House On The Left, and for me the original Maniac too, as the originals are really hard to sit through because they are so rough and gritty and have very little about them that is enjoyable (I do acknowledge they are well made and their message is strong) and I never watch them because of that. The remakes, while still very unpleasant at times, are easier to get through because of the acting and probably because of the improved production values. Looking forward to more videos.

Speaking of the The Fly: I recently watched it and had to make a pit stop and was shocked I had gotten through 44 minutes in, it felt like I just began it. Such a masterfully paced film with intriguing plot, characters and dialogue. Truly a classic. And as far as Carpenter's The Thing: its interesting how it was bashed upon released. It makes me wonder what other movies could be masterpieces floating around right now that future generations will deem it so and that we all just consider it okay or bad.
Even your honorable mentions were on point! No surprise.. You got great horror taste.. I totally agree that some of the remakes are much more watchable but the originals are still important film marks in history that need to be seen!

@@DrumdumsOfficial The Blob remake is awesome. Directed by Chuck Russel, screenplay is by Frank Darabont. Plus, Shawnee Smith is in it. Well worth checking out.
Great list man. The 2010 remake of the crazies was great and in my opinion did not screw up the legacy of the original. Unfortunately the original doesn't seem to be well known by alot of people. I've seen both and they're great pieces of work but I have to say if you like the old B-Movie, grindhouse atmosphere the original is where it's at. If you haven't seen it yet it is a great movie to watch if you ever decide to watch it.
Folks, just to clear up the Brolin confusion regarding Amityville, I was comparing Reynold’s performance to Nicholson’s performance from The Shining. Sorry for the confusion. What are some of your favorite horror remakes?
Its ridiculous that you even had to clarify that. Fuckin people...
Drumdums Not your fault Lee. Everyone makes mistakes.
ppl are stupid
My favorite horror remakes are Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn Of The Dead, and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. The cast in that movie is phenomenal! Veronica Cartwright, Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy, and Jeff Goldblum. LEGENDARY.

surprised The Hills have eyes isn't on there,, up there is my top 3.
Great list!
I need to see Invasion. Haven't seen it since I was a kid.
U get it haha invasions 77 is my favorite and I have a Carpenter signed THING poster
I cant believe dawn of the dead didnt make it into your top 10 but my bloody valentine did lol shame on you drum dums!
Great List .
I feel like The texas Chainsaw remake did for reboots and remakes what Halloween did for Slashers.
Definitely one of my favorite remakes.
And every single person who has ever praised this film has had a hand in turning horror down the wrong path.
videodromeTVversion You’ll just have to be in the minority on that one. The 2003 remake was a great movie.
@@trevorrovert3103 No, it's one of the worst so-called horror films I have ever seen. And I've been doing this for a long time.
@@trevorrovert3103 In your dreams: the 2003 remake sucked. Deal with it. If you like action thrillers, it was okay. I'm a horror fan, I like horror films. TCM 2003 might be an okay action thriller but it sucks as a horror film.
Great movie, I was 15 when I watched it and it made me a fan of Leatherface. Introduced me to TCM made me want to watch the OG Version. I liked both.
Perfect list. Wasn't completely on board with the Carrie remake though. I would have definitely switched The Hills Have Eyes for it. One that I'd say as an honorable mention maybe is The Wolfman. Also you really should watch the original Maniac. You won't regret it.
Tom Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead is actually very good too. Also, I would throw in the conversation The Ring and Piranha remakes.
Oh, ditto on The Ring. I far prefer it to the original. I kind of forget it's a remake, honestly.
I prefer Savinis to Romeros tbh
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks You've actually seen the 1998 _Ring_ the Japanese film?
I'm watching my way through your channel today. I love the fact that you do honorable mentions; I don't see that in countdowns a lot
Gaby Gibson Thank you Gaby! I enjoy putting honorable mentions in there because it’s kind of a cheat for me. I always have more that I want to mention that don’t quite make the top 10. And thank you so much for watching my videos.
@@DrumdumsOfficial You're welcome, Lee

7. Thirteen Ghosts
6. House of Wax
5. Dawn of the Dead
4. My Bloody Valentine
3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
2. The Hills Have Eyes
1. Maniac
Wow... those are all not-good movies.
Just saying you have awful taste.
videodromeTVversion Yeah, you should probably stop talking about movies now because you’re being pretty ridiculous
👏👏!! YES! Great pick!!
Loved hearing your list and insight! Made me realize there’s still a few movies I need to dive into, instead of putting off. So happy that Jane Levy/Evil Dead has been getting all the love recently, as well as Suspiria.

@@gojira760 Indeed it is. Howard Hawks classic The Thing from Another World. It's playing during the movie marathon in John Carpenter's Halloween
Who Goes There by John Cambell
Definitely The Fly!
The Blob doesn’t get the recognition it deserves 👍🏼
The crazies is one of my favorite movies. I think its extremely underrated. Such a fun movie to watch. I totally agree with this top 10 list.
Agreed Dana!
The evil dead was awesome, the sets looked amazing. Especially the last kill in front of a burning house in a bloodstorm
5: Evil Dead (2013)
4: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
3: Friday The 13th (2009)
2: The Fly (1986)
1: The Thing (1982)
Harry Strunk yes it is, it’s based off the movie The thing from another world
Harry Strunk that as well
Harry Strunk It’s a remake bud you have google for a reason
They're both very deserving.
Great one!
Love a ranking video Lee, I have gotten some great films I missed from your lists.
If I had to do a Top 10, my list would look something like this (in no particular order):
10. EVIL DEAD (2013)
9. LET ME IN (2010)
8. IT (2017)
7. THE RING (2002)
6. INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1978)
5. THE CRAZIES (2010)
4. DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004)
3. THE FLY (1986)
2. THE BLOB (1988)
1. THE THING (1982)
*Honorable Mentions =
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990)
FRIDAY THE 13th (2009)
THE HILLS HAVE EYES (2006)
THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (2009)
FRIGHT NIGHT (2011)
Technically, It was originally a TV miniseries. It (2017) was the first theatrical screen adaptation of Stephen King's novel.
Except for Evil Dead 2013, I would pretty much agree with your list. Really did not like that one. The Hills Have Eyes 2006 is the best horror remake in my opinion, as is Night of the Living Dead 1990 and Dawn of the Dead 2004.
Great list dude....The Thing is my favourite horror movie!! just love it
Hell yeah me too man!
Lee you never fail to deliver when I need an awsome horror flick to watch!

So many people hate on the mbv remake but I love it, glad to see someone speak on it in a positive light
Great examples Teresa!

1. Suspiria
2. The Thing
3. The Hills Have Eyes
4. Maniac
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
6. Dawn Of The Dead
7. I Spit On Your Grave
8. The Blob

Andy Mann yeah The Blob, can’t forget about that one.

The Thing(1982) is one my favorite movies of all time and one of the best remakes ever alongside The Fly(1986)
1. A nightmare on elm street 2010
2. Friday the 13th 2009
3. The Texas chainsaw massacre 2003
4. Pet sematery 2019
5. Evil dead 2013
Hills have eyes, Friday the 13th and evil dead are my favourite remakes
The Thing (1982), The Blob, Maniac, The Fly, Evil Dead, Let Me In, The Hills have Eyes are some of my favorite remakes. The Maniac og is a must watch Lee, you should really check it out. I know you’ll like it!
The Thing is a stone cold classic. 95% of the sfx still look amazing by today’s standards. That’s a remarkable achievement.
Right Chord Leadership Very much agreed!
I am a huge Romero fanatic but, I enjoy the remake of The Crazies more than his original, I think that it was far more successful in achieving what Romero was originally going for. Love your channel, keep up the good work brother!
Thank you Mike! Yeah the remake is sooo good.
Always hesitate to use best/greatest online so I am going to go with my 10 favorite horror remakes:
10) Willard ('03)
- Crispin Glover is great in this
9) Texas Chainsaw
('03) - very effective, grimy atmosphere
8) Body Snatchers ('93)
- loved the practical effects in this iteration
7) Fright Night ('11)
- I found it funny and Colin Farrell is very intimidating
6) Invasion of the Body Snatcher
('78) - super creepy with an all star cast
5) Evil Dead
('13) - gore-galore with a great Jane Levy performance
4) Let Me In
('10) - I like the original slightly more but Matt Reeves puts his own flare on this remake
3) The Thing
('82) - great pacing with incredible effects
2) The Fly
('86) - excellent effects with a surprising emotional climax
1) The Blob
('88) - so much fun with great practical effects in the first two acts.
Honorable mentions: The Hitcher ('07), Silent Night ('12), Invaders from Mars ('86)
Finally, someone who also likes the Carrie Remake.
Great picks, awesome list man!

@@videodromeTVversion that's the way she goes
Great list Lee! I totally agree with you on the Amityville Horror, Ryan Reynolds goes from his usual funny self into a machine!
You need to watch those now!
Dear Lee! I love Suspiria and Evil Dead remakes as well. And of course classics - The Thing and The Fly... Those are amazing! It's just one awesome remake that comes to my mind you have not mentioned... The Blob! It's just so entertaining. Love it!

I haven't seen most of these, because I'm generally not real crazy about remakes, but I absolutely agree with your top two. Remarkable films.

The Thing is the ultimate success story. So far ahead of it's time. We didn't know what we had.
Even your honorable mentions were on point! No surprise.. You got great horror taste.. I totally agree that some of the remakes are much more watchable but the originals are still important film marks in history that need to be seen!

I'm shocked you put Dawn Of The Dead in the Honorable Mention...because it should be in the top 3. What a great movie. Looking forward to your list.
Dawn of the dead is probably one of my fav remakes. My favourite scene is "Burt Reynolds". I have to agree with you about The Thing. Maybe my favourite movie period.
All awesome remakes, Lee! Other remakes I love are The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and The Hills Have Eyes.
I really need to see The Blob and Savini's Night.
I’m not the only one who loves the original 1978 I Spit On Your Grave and adores it
