The Authoritarian Personality, was written by Theodor W. Adorno, one of the leading member of the Frankfurt School, a German neomarxist view who mixed Marxism, Freud, and Phenomenology. His writing in the 40s was antiNazi, antifascist so the US govt through the OSS (and later the CIA) funded the publications that often published his and other Frankfurt School scholars research.

Good evening Pastor Doug, Through different Reformed or Calvinist teachers I’ve become Presbyterian. There are younger men who have learned from you and who I’ve started listening to. You know these pastors personally or have been quoted by them extensively but it seems they are struggling or perhaps losing their way in some areas. One feature of Reformed theology that I think could be helpful is stressing the necessity of Presbyterian church government. Many of the churches I’ve been in (Calvinist/Dispensational, Keswick/Dispensational) have thankfully had Biblical church polity on the local level of their church but don’t have a truly Presbyterian relationship (accountability and authority) with other churches. I’ve watched several churches run amuck (sometimes because of the unfaithful members and a weak session of elders, sometimes because of corrupt elders) who couldn’t be reigned in because there was no broader ecclesiastical structure that could hold them accountable, that the members could ask for a mediator from or could encourage them to be courageous. Would love to see more Reformed pastors of churches who are not Presbyterian in their formal relationship to other churches (aka aren’t members of the CREC or ARP) be strongly encouraged to join a denomination. Love you brother. Have a good Lord’s day tomorrow.
Slander is sinful. Unrepentant slander is disqualifying. Partnering with an unrepentant slanderer to make a Declaration instead of calling upon the slanderer to publicly repent is also sinful. Also, the Declaration is vainglorious in that it tries so hard to be clever that it fully compromised on clarity. Also, the intro music sounded nice and I could still hear brother Doug just fine.
Open and Closed Society view was set forth by Karl Popper, in his 2 volume Open Society and it's Enemies. The problem was Popper's reductionist rationalism (positivism). Voegelin argued that Popper misapplied Henri Bergson's The Two Sources of Morality and Religion where the use of the concept of open and Closed is raised.
It's an attempt to stand against antisemitism, xenophobia, racism, and other worldly categories of sin that are not specifically mentioned in the Bible. However, it takes no position on slander.
39:40 is huge. A lot of Antioch and anti-antioch needs this. We're not fighting natural affections, and we're not trying to squish out loyalties via natural affections. We're trying to say Christ must be Lord over all, and, that our chief end as a nation is not preventing the return of Hitler per se. Most fundamentally, we need the reformation and training of our natural affections by Christ's virtue, not merely the unbridling of our natural affections alone.

The notion of a post-war consensus covered support for a coherent package of policies that was developed in the 1930s and promised during the Second World War, focused on a mixed economy, Keynesianism, and a broad welfare state
The post-war consensus, sometimes called the post-war compromise, was the economic order and social model of which the major political parties in post-war Britain shared a consensus supporting view, from the end of World War II in 1945 to the late-1970s.
The intro music isn't the only deafening thing coming out of Moscow. This is literally the only topic you guys have produced/discussed since the week after the election. You're pushing away and denouncing the brethren instead of discussing with and discipling them.
Doug, the Antioch Declaration is nothing more than a declaration of the post- WWII consensus. It's surprising how much you're lacking in self-awareness.
Hey there. What is meant by the post WWII cosensus is something I need to brush up on. But is there an objection to the substance of the declaration ypu have? I have read it a couple times and find it sound. What might I be missing? Cheers

Any other interesting facts about Mr. Adorno that you could pass on?
Curious timing.
Do you think this lines up with the declaration? Far as I can see after that Ezra Institute post these guys are just spiraling the pit.
Pastor Douglas, Mr. Reno thank you for this dialogue.
Intro music so loud! Driving great incoherence.. can barely hear Doug
If I may blindly propound a fundamental principle: never let the interns mix the intro
@nathanhansen6864 right?! I'm assuming Doug had something important to say?
Allow neither the young men who max out instrumentation nor the old men with hearing aids in the sound booth. 😂

Skip the first 3 minutes, which are drowned out by loud music. Otherwise thank you for a great interview.
As others have said, great content, but the music is too loud in the introduction. The music fits, but is too loud in the introduction.
I liked it, personally.

The Antioch Declaration is absolutely unclear to me. Can someone please explain the why and what of that Declaration?
It's an attempt to stand against antisemitism, xenophobia, racism, and other worldly categories of sin that are not specifically mentioned in the Bible. However, it takes no position on slander.
Didn't you JUST write the Antioch Declaration?

Hey guys, the music in the intro is too loud. I can’t heard the monologue.
Kind of reminds me of the old Mars Hill Tapes, that kind of discussion
Such intelligent discussion. Love Canon Press.

Terrible into guys! Get these interns under control lol.
Lost me when he said meaning is a weak god. Been inside Protestantism for 20 years. These kinds of comments are driving me away. Completely blind.
The Left's use of the word meaning in place of the term truth because the Left doesn't like absolutes and the term meaning is more pliable.
Reno is Roman Catholic.
He said "meaning" has replaced "truth" in usage. He sees "meaning" as mired in subjectivism.
