Awesome compilation! Can you share a link to all the verses referenced...please.
Thank you!
"If Caesar redefines his own job description he is disobeying Romans 13."
LOL. Too bad Paul (and Jesus) says nothing of the kind. They neither called for nor actually revolted or resisted against the pagan Caesars of their time. Paul was telling people to submit to Nero in Romans 13. But I guess that's when Nero was a nice pagan, right (btw, the person who made that argument initially was a unitarian).
Much appreciate this message. Canadian here...we are definitely under God’s judgement with our current leader 😓
I’m in Canada too . I can testify to that statement
Same here. I agree
They took your guns which is why you are in a worse situation than USA. They have to be very cautious over there whereas trudeau can bulldoze over you guys. Keep praying
@@Marra7777 They have on paper only. They technically haven’t taken a single gun yet. We’re not the type that will smile and say “okay” as we willingly hand in our semi autos. People have been going nuts buying as many as humanly possible. Our guns stores look as empty as yours right now... Ammo too. Luckily they missed quite a few on their ban list. Bullpups like the Tavor and RDB to name a few are still free range and being stockpiled by anyone lucky enough to find them. Any AR15’s are registered, unfortunately. But a good number of semi autos that everyone buys were non restricted, meaning non registered. Believe me, we’re well armed and are fighting this gun grab with record numbers. Canadians love their guns too. And not just hunting rifles and shotguns 👌🏻

Spot. On. Thank you for the most detailed and accurate description of what’s happening in Roman’s 13. We went round and round (respectfully) with our pastor over this issue. We brought up so many other examples in the Bible, but it was always met with anger and accusing us of being disobedient. We unfortunately had to leave the church. It ended up a blessing, but it was so sad to walk through. It also challenged our faith. So many of our Christian brothers and sisters were against us because we were speaking against closing the church, masking, sitting apart from each other and not doing communion. It was so demented what they were doing under the guise of honoring the Lord.
Thank you for your steadfast faithfulness, and thanks to our God and Father whom upholds us in this righteous endeavor.
Yeah blindly follow and obeying (unless it's God) just something that never sat well with him. I look at some. It's ridiculous, I know it's ridiculous, and even the person ENFORCING it know it's ridiculous, but I'm still required to follow it? Really??? God gave us brains too guys lol
There is so much wisdom in this sermon; both politically and spiritually. God bless you, Pastor Doug.
Outside of my own pastor, I have my favorites popular pastors and teachers, and I go to each one for insight on different topics. Pastor Wilson has quickly become my go to guy on cultural engagement, and family/relationship stuff. If his soteriology wasn't so sketch (which doesnt rile me up to near the extent that it does many of my esteemed PCA brethren) , I'd think this man the greatest of his generation. Christianity does not necessitate pacifism. Augustine, for what its worth, did write rules for just war, after all.
Thank you much Pastor Wilson!
One of your best talks to date!
This needs to be a 21 chapter book, ASAP.
For sure
Awesome sermon! Love pastor Doug!
Awesome, this was eye opening and gave me a sort of peace about the craziness going on God is soverign over all of it.
God's principles transcend culture! Love my dear brother n pastor! Desde Mexico 😊
This is a tremendously helpful message.
The Greatest Sermon of Our time
This was absolutely fantastic!
I appreciate the balance in Romans Ch 13. There is an obligation of obedience and an obligation of restraint. The "restraint" is that the sword is only given for one limited purpose. The passage immediately becomes absurd if that purpose can be arbitrarily defined by the authorities wielding the sword. As we cannot be in good christian obedience while assisting another in their disobedience, we are obligated to resist when those in authority order us to assist them in using the sword against those who are not doing evil. ... Especially when we can peacefully and lawfully do so on a jury.
Thank you pastor, a great message
Good stuff. Thanks
So good
I know what that feels like at the end... So many things to say.....
More please

Anyone else get an ad for the Mormon Cult at the start of this video? If I didn't have an optimistic eschatology, I would find that more threatening than funny. Thank God for His triumph and victory!
When there is no God above the state ...
"The true State is the ethical whole and the realization of freedom. It is the absolute purpose of reason that freedom should be realized. ... The State is the march of God through the World, its ground is the power of reason realizing itself as will." -- Hegel
Amen.
Wow. Just wow! And this was a year ago!
I have much to unlearn
Great quote by Kuyper
Would it be possible for someone to provide a link to the source material of the John Knox reference at the end of the video thanks in advance. West Coast reformed Scot. Asking for help...cheers...
9:38 Correction, “It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but you have made it a den of thieves.”
He was telling a joke, you know. 😏
And it was funny.
Ok so if the divine right of kings was against God's will but God establishes authorities how did he not establish it.
Like you're saying that He establishes all authorities so He established our government according to His will so all of it must be valid but he didn't establish the other ones that were invalid?
Does God establish authorities that go against His moral law and intended will because He would have to.
I'm actually trying to sincerely listen.
Can please tell me the name of the book you mentioned about the Huguenots
A Defense of Liberty Against Tyrants.

Doug did you curse from the pulpit at 7:45??
I don’t understand the “jealous of liberties” part. Please explain.
People have not held their liberties as very dear, and defended them as they would a family member.
Just as our God is a jealous God of us. He would not have us chasing after other gods, but only Him!
I'd also like to know the biblical foundation for being jealous for our liberties
@@bartycrouch312 Read the other two comments above yours.
@@greenghost6416 I have, didn't see the biblical foundation though?

Nero the tyranical "beast"
Certainly some food for thought. It's a rarity to hear such things in a British church. I think that we, wisely or otherwise, hold to the principle that a pastor ought not stray into politics while standing at the pulpit...
Paul set a real nice example of that, even the transcript of Jesus’ trial is recorded in the Bible. When it comes to God and truth, our opinions hold water like a sieve. Besides, we want political leaders with biblical worldviews, otherwise we end up having representatives who think it’s ok to rip a baby apart in its mother’s womb... 🤷🏽♂️
A side note, if you ever go to a church service or bible study and hear the phrase, “I think” from the pulpit, that should be a red flag
Unfortunately if most British pastors discussed politics they would be spouting woke sjw nonsense in all likelihood
Oliver - from the UK here, was on staff in a church where politics was spoken about every week in church. What you say is exactly right. Time for a reformation!
@@jbambrick1 amen! Pastors at my church basically never speak about politics beyond "obey the government because muh romans 13", but at least they basically never spout woke rubbish
Good to see some fellow Brits on here. I think I'm going to have to look into this further, maybe follow up the references. A very pertinent message for theses times.
Any Christian ancaps here?
Leaning that way.

Nice. It would be interesting to hear a dialog between Christian theologians and Christian ancaps. There is so much overlap, yet such a gulf between the two groups.
Without sounding too pretentious, Christian theologians might benefit from a better understanding regarding the anatomy of the state; and Christian ancaps might benefit from a better understanding regarding God's word.
A discussion between Doug Wilson and Bob Murphy would be awesome.
@@justingorman1068 Yes. Mind you, my attraction to such positions is pragmatic, not ontologically or ethically normative. My preferred governance is wise and benign dictatorship. It's just that, in this age, they tend to go bad

I hear ya. For me, the biggest questions are what form of government (i.e. authority) is from God (Romans 13:1) and how can we know it is?
Almost always, the Constitution is **assumed** to be. However, what was wrong with the Articles of Confederation or the English Monarchy? Were these authorities not from God? If not, how were they known not to be?
I suppose I use ancap as an augmentation to my revelational, Christian epistemology. To the degree I am interested in the above questions (I'm not sure how Christians cannot be in light of Romans 13...), I need a tool that can analyze the data. Ancap is such a tool.
God established Government. There’s a difference between wanting no government and wanting limited government. No government is lawlessness and chaos, pure sin. As sin is chaos and lawlessness to God’s good natural order and law. To be anarchic is to rebel against something that in itself is fundamentally good.
The overreaction by the government proves they watch too many movies
