We need more of this. Local churchs are not leading or are mistaken in this area. I honor my pastor and elders, but they are wrong when they say to submit to authority during these crossroads. It leaves me concerned that when they do coming knocking or rounding up my family will be unattended by the shepherds.

Exegesis is the exposition or explanation of a text based on a careful, objective analysis.
The word exegesis literally means “to lead out of.” That means that the interpreter is led to his conclusions by following the text.
The opposite approach to Scripture is eisegesis, which is the interpretation of a passage based on a subjective, non-analytical reading. The word eisegesis literally means “to lead into,” which means the interpreter injects his own ideas into the text, making it mean whatever he wants.
    Which hermeneutic is he using?

@@theresamoore7623 watch the entire video again, it’s there. Paul assumes the Roman Empire is governing within the boundaries of upholding what is good. “Romans 13:3-4 (CSB) 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. 4 For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.”
Another Governing authority was the Sanhedrin who had not only religious authority but civil and criminal jurisdiction.
Our attitude should be default Acts 4:18-20 “18 So they called for them and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 Peter and John answered them, “Whether it’s right in the sight of God for us to listen to you rather than to God, you decide; 20 “for we are unable to stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Acts 5:28-29 28 “Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” 29 Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.”
Should we obey governments like the Sanhedrin?

Its Me You are way off base with your Romans 13 argument but at this point neither the Edmonton pastor nor anyone in support of his actions can appeal to scripture for that support. The pastors argument is based on upholding proper church ecclesiology but during his time in prison who was out there on various outlets defending their ecclesiology? A woman. Not a single male elder.took the lead in defending it. So obviously it was never about ecclesiology but more likely we are dealing with a cult of personality.

Peter commands slaves and wives to submit to evil masters and husbands in 1 Peter 2-3, so on what authority does Doug say to not submit to evil governments? He's in error. Citizens, wives, children, slaves, and employees must submit to their authorities and obey their commands so long as those commands aren't inherently sinful to obey.

Josh Peterson, thanks for answering Josh Peterson's question.
I might add that we can see clear examples in Scripture where resistance to tyrants is obedience to God. Exodus, Jeremiah, I Samuel, Daniel, Acts - all these books, and more, contain examples of proper resistance to wicked rulers and unrighteous laws.
Children are to obey parents "in all things" but no one would take that to mean you should rob an old woman if you're father tells you to.

So we must send our children to public school if the state commands it? Judging your fruit, its better if you stick with your dubstep before you try to teach men.

@@joshpeterson2451 Which Bible translation do you use? Does it say "higher powers" or "governing authorities"? I could be wrong, but sense it is the latter. And that is a false translation.
Certainly, we do agree not to obey the laws that are sinful. However, that is where Christians start to compromise. Most Christians see nothing wrong with sending their kids to public school - and be indotrinated with Darwinist propaganda. The vaccine may not sound sinful - however, God says we must beware what to put into our bodies.
Therefore, be a subject unto the higher powers - God's laws, including the Ten Commandments - not man made laws. I could send you a documentary about the Bible versions. It is by no means a small matter, brother.
We are to bring God back into this world, not merely wait until we die and go to heaven and live like the rest of the world. Do we agree?
