This match literally never gets old. Hingis magic 💫
Fabulous! Thanks so much for the uncut match. They're becoming all too rare. The video quality is outstanding, as well. More, please.
I am in 💔 with Martina
Martinas first Grand Slam title, so great to watch
My queen forever @Marti❤
1st of 3 consecutive AO win for Hingis, and first of 6 straight final
So nice of Mary to say a few words to her French fans despite the loss ❤
A moment of tennis immortality as Hingis becomes the youngest Grand Slam champion in the Open Era and the youngest world number one.
During that era Hingis was fast agile nimble and most of all effective,so given her brilliant technique I would say that she delivered a tennis seminar in that final
So my ❤ is here Martina hingis
Hingis took the balls so incredibly early, esp. her forehands, even much before their highest point, taking time away from Pierce.
Yeah, that often compensated for her lack of natural power and made it so she actually liked playing against big hitters (save for the rare few Serena/Davenport level first strikers who gave her 0 space to rally). This might seem like a weird comparison on the surface but I've always thought of Hingis as kind of like a mid-point between Chris Evert and Monica Seles.
Memorable match 😮☝️👏
From Cinderella to princess Martina Hingis
I simply love this match ❤ Throwback to such a special tennis moment. Thanks for sharing
2 beautiful ladies
Mi estrella numero uno por siempre : Martina Hingis forever!! ❤❤❤❤
Você tem os outros jogos de Hingis neste torneio?
Great video quality. You can see the ball clearly.
I wonder what racquet Mary Pierce was using.
It's the original Wilson Pro staff, a very old racquet even back then in 1997. It was made for Jimmy Connors in 1984. Other players who used it over the years include Chris Evert, Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras.
@@th8257 👏🏽👏🏽
16 and joking about "I gotta give somebody else a chance to win an event" in her victory speech. Hilarious. And crazy talent.
Father deliberately asked sister to mix hing in the evening food. Little I know this connection in the future with IS, hing->IS
No more videos Australian oper
That deop shot in the third game 😂
That woman was a _horrible_ chair umpire.
Hingis wasn't exactly shy. She was completely out of shape here, yet let everything hing out...
Martina + Roger ♡
see, consistency and precison wins over power. Hingis knows when to attack and keep mary off balance. While Mary reminds me of a 2nd rate madison keys with a weaker serve.
Hingis' balls had a lot of pace too
Not today's tennis, because they have precision and consistency and also power. Hinge herself couldn't deal with the power the Williams sisters brought.
Hingis also couldn't deal with the power from Lindsay Davenport, as shown in the AO final a few years later where Davenport completely overpowered Hingis.
I'm the first comment 🎉
Huge bloomers and they still failed to contain the whole thing
