Seth taking down a #35 mythic with a budget ensoul deck warms my heart Also while I understand the budget part is usually meant for paper, would have loved to see the shocks in the deck. The bad match ups might have been better with a solod mana base, and for arena it's all the same 'budget'
not including the shocks lessens the barrier of entry for the deck and gives it a pretty direct upgrade line. taking down the #35 mythic player without them is a way better way to sell people on the deck
I haven't played every day since release and I permanently have infinitely less rare/mythic wildcards so I have to be super conservative with how I use then. The budget is real.
Was there a chance to win earlier in match 2 game two? When you traded vein rippers was there a chance to pump the drake by sacking your tokens? I know you can't at instant speed but wasn't there stuff in the stack or was I not watching closely enough
See I actually disagree. Joy must be a niche new thing, cause March isn’t a card waste not is playing. His first opponent G1 had no out. Shrapnel blast just closed it out. Plus make them have it anyways. And waste the cards in hand.
41:22 How is he dead here? Opponent has 10 power and he can block 7 damage by blocking Swiftspear with both creatures. On his turn if he topdecks a Ensoul or Blast he wins.
@@EngineeredCoaxium That's not how any of this works. The controller of an attacking creature with trample first assigns damage to the creature(s) blocking it. Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage, any excess damage is assigned as its controller chooses among those blocking creatures and the player, planeswalker, or battle the creature is attacking. You can't assign damage to face without assigning lethal damage to *all* blockers.
this "budget" ensoul artifact deck is actually the best Tier 1 deck in explorer/pioneer right now. just happens that the best deck in the format is relatively inexpensive
Why no Zoetic Glyph? I run that in mine and its very good. Helps by giving resiliency against removal heavy decks. Although Im also silly for not running Shrapnel Blast in mine. I need to fix that lol
What was your favorite deck that got you to Mythic? I haven’t been there in ages. Glad to see your gameplay videos again. Haven’t seen them in a while for some reason
It is never wrong to use Ensoul Artifact on the Darksteel Citadel. Since the Ensoul gives you a 5/5 creature, both Turn Aside and Stubborn Denial are better options than Spell Pierce; if your primary concern is removal, then even Dispel will work. Why give the opponent an out by being able to pay 2? Since you are in Pionner and will likely have a 5/5 (or usually at least a 3/3), then even Spell Rupture is viable. There are simply so many options which are better than Spell Pierce, including Test of Talents. For defense, you are in blue/red, so Dive Down, Shore Up, or You See a Guard Approach.
Its kinda like gruul boats, it can screw over certain playstyles but the vast majority of t1-t2 decks are equipped to handle it. I played the eidetic draw deck against it and scoop as soon as i see waste not lmao
It’s pretty well positioned against the meta right now. It runs 4 mainboard go blank which is good against phoenix, it has access to edicts which is great vs vampires and is basically a control deck with how much removal it has which makes it great vs amalia combo
tbh i really didnt understand the sequence of play there... he could have dropped a land and the siren, then next turn shrapnel to the face and attack with 4 creatures for 9 total damage.... like the line was so obvious to me...??
41:24 tell me how he cant block and survive? I believe they need to have 1 more spell. 10 damage - 7 is 3 damage. You double block swiftie going to 1 and hope to god for a blast right?
Huh. I think were I in your place here, I might run some way to get back the Ensoul Artifact, some kind of bounce to hand as an answer to removal. They try to kill your creature, oops, it's an artifact again, and if that still kills it, I can Ensoul Artifact something else.
Pretty wild how a 'budget' deck is now considered under 100 dollars. For one deck, and it's *budget*. I have no idea how Wizards stays in business, especially with proxies being a thing.
functionally a free 8th card every game in the event that it's relevant. Doesn't come up often but generally better than a 15th card in the sideboard. Modern domain does the same thing even though 8 mana for a 5/5 isn't normally good.
Cryptic Coat is just too slow. Zoetic Glyph is just always going to be faster and better. Swinging for 5 on turn 3 AND getting something back when it hits the yard cant be overstated in this type of deck.
I don't think you should start calling Explorer Pioneer. I know they are pretty close but I don't think you should change the name u til one official evolves to the other
Why no Darksteel Ingot? Or lotus petal? With petal it feasible to get out a more worthwhile artifact or creature that benefits from artifacts. Plus having four Ingots and four citadel gives more indestructible targets for ensoul and more shrapnel targets. Junk jet is nice just saying.
You're by far one of my favorite tubers. In fact, if you weren't one of the tubers of this channel, I would've unsubscribed. Your coleague sometimes displays such toxic behaviour... Guys like him are the reason I mute my opponents in Arena.
The 88 has a problematic meaning. Look it up. and dont use it in titles. Unless seth and MTGGoldfish belong to a social club, and I hope that isn't true.
I have no idea what you're talking about and I'm guessing most people don't either. Which means that it doesn't have any problematic meaning for most of us. It's just a number. Are you just making stuff up or a bot?

That guy must have lost an unbelievable amount of rank.

Yeah, Steam Vents is just so expensive in paper, but it is a solid addition to the deck.
Was there a chance to win earlier in match 2 game two? When you traded vein rippers was there a chance to pump the drake by sacking your tokens? I know you can't at instant speed but wasn't there stuff in the stack or was I not watching closely enough
21:45 you had lethal here. If you sac'd the clue and then sac'd the blood then geardrake would have been a 4/4
Typical Seth and not checking the boardstate.
Good call.
Ensoul Artifact also loves your 0/0 artifact creatures that have plus one, plus one counters on them. Now your 5/5 is bigger!!!
Yeah, it is good with incubates for sure :)
Do you think, maybe, they were talking about filched falcon
thank you for the 12:14 reference to my fave character ever
37:55 The Modern Age sees a lot of Pauper play.
Michikos reign of truth sees play in standard and pioneer. It’s one of the few good kamigawa sagas
Laughs in Fable of the Mirror-Breaker
It works amazing in my UW artifact aggro deck
Oh yeah, good call.
Few including fable, kumano, restoration, hidetsugo (in sideboards), and the modern age
I love animated artifact lands, happy to see Case of the Falcon get some love. Great video!
You beating the #35 ranked player on Arena in Match 2 was insane! Congrats my guy, what good playing and running!
Great content Seth. The first FNM I won was during Origins standard with my own Ensoul Blast brew. This brings back a lot of fun memories, thanks
im ngl I really want to see a non-budget version of this deck; this looks kinda sick.
I play this deck and it's basically just this but with shocklands instead of spires, I think its just a normal tier 2 pioneer deck
The match 1 was played so well. Seth is right that no need to take the 1% risk.
See I actually disagree. Joy must be a niche new thing, cause March isn’t a card waste not is playing. His first opponent G1 had no out. Shrapnel blast just closed it out. Plus make them have it anyways. And waste the cards in hand.

How is he dead here?
Opponent has 10 power and he can block 7 damage by blocking Swiftspear with both creatures.
On his turn if he topdecks a Ensoul or Blast he wins.
Correct he was not dead
Yeah he said he could soak up 4 but he could soak up 7. Not sure what he was talking about there.
Seth for some reason folds for any breeze. If it looks like he might lose he just gives up rather than seeing it through.
Trample only has to kill one of the blockers before it can assign damage to face

Been meaning to tune my old Budget Pioneer Ensoul list. Love this version.
Would love to see a non budget list of this
This list is literally 71 of the 75 of the current meta ensoul list, -1 island -4 spire +1 otawara +4 steam vents makes this a mtgo topping list
My only Q for this build is if *Zoetic Glyph* was considered, and, IF SO, why did it not make the cut?
I think the discover is a bit awkward with some of the cards, but I defeated was thinking about it too 🤣
So excited to see a list! I loved my military intelligence/ensoulnithopter deck back in standard, tried creating in mtga but with less success
I never knew Q-taro Burgerburg was so good at magic the gathering! Baseball AND magic champion huh
this "budget" ensoul artifact deck is actually the best Tier 1 deck in explorer/pioneer right now. just happens that the best deck in the format is relatively inexpensive
I think part of the reason this build is "budget" is that it's not running shocklands but I could be wrong
Eh, this deck is okay in Pioneer. Not really tier 1
Love the list, Seth. I'm running something similar but with syr Ginger after you're video with her in standard.
I remember Ensoul Artifact in the M15-Origins Standard. Oh baby. Plenty of great Khaladesh Pioneer cards in here I see.
Running with scissors hype lol.
I popped when you took down that #35 Mythic with Budget. that was nuts
I feel like whenever Seth reaches Mythic he makes a new budget deck to celebrate
Well match 2 was a delight. You guys often joke about not being the best magic players out there but you really showed off there :)
Niceeee... Love to see some pioneer
Bro was locked in during match 2 imo
Why no Zoetic Glyph? I run that in mine and its very good. Helps by giving resiliency against removal heavy decks.
Although Im also silly for not running Shrapnel Blast in mine. I need to fix that lol
The conservative sandwich heavy investor reference was such an amazing reference I haven't thought of in a long time because of my boneitis
13:00 rectal vampires!?
I had a concept that I’m still working on where you ensoul the millennium calendar then put luxior, giada’s gift on it
Love me some ghost scissors.
I would trade out the pain lands for shocks. Steam vents are worth the investment.
Way to go taking down #35 mythic that is wild!!! I love when the underdog wins!
What was your favorite deck that got you to Mythic? I haven’t been there in ages. Glad to see your gameplay videos again. Haven’t seen them in a while for some reason
#35 getting clowned by an Act of Treason effect, as things should be

A nice aura to control those out of control Mythic artifacts
Can u make a group hug deck with Kynaios and Tiro that’s kinda budget like 60 dollars
Wait, waste not is a top tier deck in pioneer? I always thought it was black's noob trap, like mono white lifegain
Its kinda like gruul boats, it can screw over certain playstyles but the vast majority of t1-t2 decks are equipped to handle it. I played the eidetic draw deck against it and scoop as soon as i see waste not lmao
First time?

@@Weenhander Gruul Boats?
It's a tier 2 deck that basically bullies a decent amount of tier 2 decks and any deck below that, but usually sputters against tier 1 decks.
Was that a missed land drop at 5:30?
tbh i really didnt understand the sequence of play there... he could have dropped a land and the siren, then next turn shrapnel to the face and attack with 4 creatures for 9 total damage.... like the line was so obvious to me...??
Because the opponent was on discard he kept it in his hand so he could discard it to a go blank rather than the cards that he needed.
Pro Tip: Fry > Rending Volley. It snipes creatures and planeswalkers for one more dmg and one more mana.
I love how no matter the format no matter the deck if Seth is playing against it "it's one of the best decks in .... " 😜
on the budget videos, in the wrap up could you make suggestions on what cards u would change for a non-budget version?
With the addition of Case of the Filtched Falcon, do you just see no need for Tezzeret's Touch?
every time he says "maybe this deck is...?' or " is this deck...?" and tilts head like a dog, take a drink.
Fuck no, I don't want to die
Seems like gingerbrute is a great target for ensoul here
Is that an Aku Aku thumbnail of the Smugglers Copter?
I mean as well dont they have ghostfire blade or whatever the tarkir thing is in arena?
Its just a good throwback to old ensoul artifact builds
Legion extruder is an insane card. It hurts me to see you taking it out vs all the midrange strats where it shines.
Hey, Futurama reference
No Zoetic Glyph?
hug has only run two campaigns and he’s already making content.
inti and copter, pretty good cards !
First game, has the opportunity to ensoul t2, doesnt. Then for some readon chooses not to play a land t3. Why does this make me so frustrated?
wdym? that was optimal...
Top 35 guy's username was a Your Turn to Die reference?
Are there recommendations to upgrade this to be a better deck if budget is not an issue?
Replace the spires with shocks and you're all good
41:24 tell me how he cant block and survive? I believe they need to have 1 more spell. 10 damage - 7 is 3 damage. You double block swiftie going to 1 and hope to god for a blast right?
When the opponents aren't land screwed or Seth doesn't draw ridiculously, it's awfully "Time to scoop..." I dunno..
Huh. I think were I in your place here, I might run some way to get back the Ensoul Artifact, some kind of bounce to hand as an answer to removal.
They try to kill your creature, oops, it's an artifact again, and if that still kills it, I can Ensoul Artifact something else.
just wonderinng, is there a reason you stopped putting the format in the title of the videos?
I've made this comment before, but honestly after match 2, very curious what rank seth could reach if he just sweated it out for a season.
Pretty wild how a 'budget' deck is now considered under 100 dollars. For one deck, and it's *budget*.
I have no idea how Wizards stays in business, especially with proxies being a thing.
I remember playing this Archetype in standard. Shows how old I am!!
What about suicide necro in standard? Are you that old?
Why is Jegantha in the sideboard?
Im not seeing the reason to run it in this deck
Because it's a free 8th card
functionally a free 8th card every game in the event that it's relevant. Doesn't come up often but generally better than a 15th card in the sideboard. Modern domain does the same thing even though 8 mana for a 5/5 isn't normally good.
Pretty much exactly that. Like Kaheera in Modern control lists a while back.
There really isn't a downside to running Jegantha, having a 61st card that you can always cast is worth giving up a sideboard slot
I’ve never not had my ass kicked by Ensoul on Arena lol
$88 can get you a top tier Pokemon Tcg deck
Why is ornithopter not here
Spygrass Shiren
Im surprized you dont use prized statue, or lizard blades, once it's reconfigured it's a viable target for ensoul and has natural doublestrike.
Probably too slow to setup, dies really easily without adding anything extra to the board and doesn’t have evasion
@@MrNesgamefreak could shrapnel blast a clue or config creature and fling what it was equipped to might as well toss a bolt in there as well lol.
Made this deck couple days ago and it was not 88$ lol.. I’m from Europe it costed me around 180€ including shippings
Cryptic Coat is just too slow. Zoetic Glyph is just always going to be faster and better. Swinging for 5 on turn 3 AND getting something back when it hits the yard cant be overstated in this type of deck.
this deck lacks pithing needle and grafdiggers!
where ornithopter? 😭
I don't think you should start calling Explorer Pioneer. I know they are pretty close but I don't think you should change the name u til one official evolves to the other
Why not play this in real Pioneer?
Tha-a-a-lia 🤣

Plus having four Ingots and four citadel gives more indestructible targets for ensoul and more shrapnel targets. Junk jet is nice just saying.
Forgot, junk jet is UB but still gross in an unrestricted legacy casual ensoul/shrapnel deck.
Why early concede :(
I feel like if you beat #35 with a budget deck you should get their place automatically and they lose it
i’m a simple man. I see this dude and immediately downvote the video
waste not is not one of the best deck... waste not on the battle field is on of the best
You're by far one of my favorite tubers. In fact, if you weren't one of the tubers of this channel, I would've unsubscribed. Your coleague sometimes displays such toxic behaviour... Guys like him are the reason I mute my opponents in Arena.
i really don't think 88 dollars can count as "budget"
Oh my sweet summer child. Don't look up the price of modern tier decks
Under 100 is what most people consider budget decks in pioneer/modern
dorky
The 88 has a problematic meaning. Look it up. and dont use it in titles. Unless seth and MTGGoldfish belong to a social club, and I hope that isn't true.

Ngl i would ranther you play real decks...aka STOP PLAYING BAD MANA BASES TO SAY THE DECKS BUDGET!
