58:42 Mystical'ing into a "heckbent" Looting away of a Wheel, to Telepath it back a turn early via a Converter's Treasure if a land was Looting'd into (with just 2:1 odds, and missing with a Pearl instead of a Plains).... Absolutely **deranged** line. LSV is such a showman.
I've been thoroughly enjoying this cube season, as your videos are the best cube education available, and have helped me immensely. I have trophies this season with Lurrus, Academy, Jeskai, Boros, Reanimator, and Draw7 decks, and your drafting diversity is largely to thank. Your ability to evaluate cards given what you've seen passed, and what you have picked, has helped me stay open to more decks, and not pigeonhole myself into a deck after a pick or three. Thanks for the content, you're a legend.
The only content creator I have never stopped watching. Grateful for all you do for the magic community and wishing your household an amazing holiday season.
when you mentioned how you could lose by "some weird fireblast combination" in match 3 I laughed because if any deck would have fireblast, it was that one with show and tell, eldrazi, omnath, saga, LED, and dark ritual. And it did have two (nonbasic) mountains in play!
I think there was a mistake at 53:07. The oppeont could sac their mite on the Agatha of the Vile Cauldron, in response tap the Agatha of the Vile Cauldron and pumping their adventure creature out of range.
As soon as your opponent in round 2 game 3 decided to not use your swords to plowshares off his robber of the rich, you just shrugged it off like you got a free hullbreacher. But I immediately looked at your life total at 4 and thought, he must have fireblast or burst lighting he’s trying to draw. You should have been trying your hardest to draw to anything that would counter, draw, or gain life if possible. It ended up being a firebolt, tho he may have had other damage outs.
No things that could beat a firebolt were left in the deck, and LSV says he thinks as much when he loots with converter at the end. Could be that he still should have realized that was their thought but didn't, or maybe not since there's no point to the line of thought
8:12 I actually do think Triome is better than Sacred foundry here. While I agree that with the cards LSV currently has Foundry is slightly better for being untapped, the fact that it's still early in pack 2 means that it's likely you'll have a chance to pick another fetch or two and Triome would make a potential future Polluted Delta significantly better for instance.
Yeah, same initial thought. I know everyone loves drawing cards, but sweeping the board (even if its only a 2 for 3, turned surprise 2 for 4) looks too juicy there to me. Plus you get to hold up pierce for a PW that wouldve been a problem at 4 mana too, not just the ultra answer beast. Oh well
I know Mox Pearl is just the stronger card, but was there not a case for Forth Eorlingas there? The deck looked perfect for it, with mystical tutor, potential treasures from hullbreacher, and no 'definitive' wincon, Forth seemed like it would have been exactly what the deck needed?
I was hoping he'd mention it, but I can't imagine the pick was remotely close. Mox replaces a land in your deck, and is so much better than a land it's not even funny. However strong a spell is, it's still replacing another playable spell in your deck. Put another way - faithless looting seemed to be the final cut in the deck. Forth Eorlingas better than Looting, true, compare that to the difference between a 3 land opening hand and a 2 land + Mox opening hand.
Slow, costs a lot of mana to set up, heavily telegraphed, and usually leaves your opponent with multiple chances to interact. It just always seems to be a turn or two too slow to be truly competitive
Also many cards in your deck that do nothing when you draw them separately. It was the best deck in the cube 10 years ago, but cube has a lot more interaction and is much faster now.
I doubt the deck had the mana for it, but Beseech the Mirror would have been a gnarly pick if you could actually fit it into the deck. Being able to grab the One Ring, Wheel of Fortune, Hullbreacher, etc. and cast it would be spicy.
Around the 27:45 mark while you were ragging on Daretti (again 😂). Yes, he's not great, however, in one of your drafts you were begging the packs for a discard outlet...and you passed Daretti twice. R3 is very splashable and the -2 ability could be a thing (not in this deck though).
4 mana, sorcery speed, you have to have stuff you already want to discard so you can't activate it speculatively, and it doesn't do anything else in a lot of decks. As somebody who has played Daretti in quite a few Reanimator decks that fell a little bit short, it's not good enough. It still looks like it should be just barely playable sometimes, but it's not. It's super fringe barely playable in the Mindslaver, Triplicate Titan, Citadel, Academy deck, aka Daretti's ideal home, but it's still really clunky there. If the rummage was a loot instead, Daretti at least becomes a consideration in other places, but as printed, Daretti has exactly one home, and it gets cut most of the time even in that deck.
@@josephmozena7640 He just looks so bad compared to Dack Fayden. You really need to use that second ability to make him ever worth playing, and it's usuallly too much work (and mana) to setup. Basically, he's just really bad.
on MTGO you're not getting paired up against people that you actually drafted with, so it's pretty common to see both yourself and your opponent having the same cards. Honestly, it kinda takes the fun out of cube drafting to me, since hate drafting cards can be such a valid strategy.

The end of match two where we all suddenly realized why they didn't swords your hullbreacher was pretty funny
Always play to your outs! #5head
Was a great play by them for sure

“This is so clearly a Mana Drain deck.”
It has islands. It’s a Mana Drain deck.

Everyone talks about Forth Eorlingas but nobody talks about the first three
The first was no good, and the second was mehhh at best. The 3rd we will never talk about!
that robber hitting the stp as youre narrating how much you would want that was hilarious
I think there was a mistake at 53:07. The oppeont could sac their mite on the Agatha of the Vile Cauldron, in response tap the Agatha of the Vile Cauldron and pumping their adventure creature out of range.
I feel like there were bigger mistakes that game
@@jrjamesson Like trying the flashy Wheel play rather than just grabbing StP and using converter to get it to hand?

got to love the fire bolt !

"boo-urns" ....Loved it!
48:21 really shocked you didn’t search for tundra then get fire covenant….😮 woulda been a solid game

Fast mana is really that good it would seem

What other commentators said - too slow, vulnerable, and the cards don’t do much on their own
For round one, are you saying boo or boo-urns?
Lunch with LSV
