Sandhill Crane Hunting over Decoys

Manitoba sandhill crane hunting over decoys. Sandhill cranes are wary with excellent eyesight. We hunted the agricultural fields of western Manitoba with Michitoba Outfitters. Large realistic decoy spreads are used to decoy cranes. Hunting sandhill cranes is perhaps one of waterfowl hunting's greatest challenges.
Cranes roost on shallow wetlands and mud flats but will fly out into agricultural fields like combined barley or wheat to field feed much like geese and puddle ducks. We set up a large spread of full body crane decoys but added a few duck and goose decoys to the spread. We used an A frame blind for concealment.

Did a 3 day hunt with Kris at Michitoba a few years back. Got us on to LOTS of ducks, geese and cranes.
