  • Shooting a full auto Galil ARM
    The Israeli Galil was developed by Yisrael Galili and Yakov Lior in the late 1960s and went into production in 1972. The rifle was originally manufactured by Israeli Military Industries as a replacement to the FN FAL that was being used at the time, and utilized some of the features seen on their adversaries AK-47 rifles during the Six-Day War. This version is the ARM (Automatic Rifle Machine gun) which features a 18.1" barrel and is 38.9" overall with a weight of 9.6 lbs. As you can see in the video, it has an incredibly controllable rate of fire similar to the AK-47 of 650 rounds per minute.
    Despite being utilized to this day by 53 countries, it is not as common as one would think to see one in the wild. I was able to see them firsthand throughout Africa in the late 90s and have to say that this is one of my favorite battle rifles.

      Yeah, but you can't blame most folks for not knowing how to handle full auto since full auto firearms are more effort to own and renting one at the range isn't the most economical

      I really appreciate that and your feedback means a lot to me. I try to figure out what I want to see... I think most people want a little background and they can read more in the description if they want, and then they want to see it shoot. I have a hard time sitting through 20 minutes of table top description or even range time from 50 different angles. Still trying to find my sweet spot but glad to hear you like what I am doing so far!

    I just picked up two, one Grade A version. Those two rifles took me over an hour to clean. They looked great on the outside, but inside components had so much carbon and crap in everything. I got so frustrated after using up an entire can of bore clean that I had to take Dawn and wash some of the parts in a deep sink and there was still a bunch of residue coming out.The Grade A I think just sat in a crate because it had factory grease still in it. It was like washing away ancient dirt. Once I got everything clean and dry, I CLP'd the hell out of it and let them sit for a few days. Once done, they were like new again. JRA only does the cosmetic portion, they dont clean the barrels, rods, gas tube etc. I advise people to thoroughly break these rifles down and clean them, or have a gunsmith do it. Very time consuming and dirty work

      There are a few magazines that will work with the Galil. With many of these military firearms you have to try a few different ones and see what works. This gun loves polymer magazines but doesn't like the steel ones that much.

    • @LegacyArmsIntl
      @LegacyArmsIntl  3 года назад +8

      Yes, that is exactly what happened. The Israelis were using the FAL at the time and respected the AKs used against them during the Six Day War and wanted the lighter caliber being used byt he Americans in Vietnam, so yes, the Galil is a mix of all of those (essentially an improved AK platform) and one of the best battle rifles out there IMO.
