Hi Andrea, I followed the recipe and it was all good. However, after baking and I tasted it, the shortbread seem to leave a dry texture in the mouth. What might be the issue here? Should I add more butter next time?
How funny, it shouldn’t be dry. A few ideas: did you measure using cups or grams? And could the shortbread have been a little over baked? I pull mine from the oven when the edges are just turning golden but the middle is still slightly soft (it hardens and sets as it cools). Hope one of those will help! 😊
@@MoversandBakers I used grams to bake the shortbread. I think you might have given me the answer, the baking time might be an issue as I baked it slightly over 15 minutes since some edges didn’t look golden brown enough! 😅 thank you! Will try it again!
Madam....cookies looks gorgeous and.yummy....can u pls tell me, if I am not coating the cookies with sugar b4 baking, will the sugar added in the flour is enough for sweetness?
Yes it will be sweet enough, but it also depends on how sweet you want it to be! I also like the extra texture sugar on the outside gives these cookies 😊
instead of the slice and bake method, can we roll it flat, chill and use a cookie cutter? will it work?
I haven't done it that way myself, but I don't see why not! I would recommend chilling after cutting, so you bake from chilled rather than just cut: the cold butter helps stop them spreading too much.

You could, though I haven't tried it this way. You will need to adjust the baking time accordingly too 😊

I get so confused with these cookie recipes that ask for unsalted butter but don’t have any additional salt in the recipe. I made shortbread cookies according to a recipe once using unsalted butter and no salt and the cookies tasted totally bland and I’m afraid to waste the butter again. Help!😩

Did you or did you not add orange juice?
For this video I didn't need to, but other times making I have. Just add a tsp at a time as needed to get consistency you need 😊
My dough kept crumbling. Grrrrrrr.
This recipe needs liquid. I had to keep on adding orange juice then water then more orange juice. I won't be making this recipe again.
This recipe has never required additional liquid, or indeed been too dry, the countless times I and many others have made it. Perhaps your measurements weren’t quite accurate?
