Just had my 2012 Passat serviced and was told the Air con condenser is falling apart and requires replacing plus seals and a re gas. Want to charge just shy of £1000 for it. You video makes me want to try it myself! Also told the console bushes are splitting so another £600… your videos will hopefully be saving me a fair packet!
Great video! I have a couple questions if you don’t mind? I have a leak on my b7 Passat from the condenser as well, did you have you system vacuumed/drained before you changed the condenser? I have read lot of conflicting advice regarding moisture being left in the system?. Can I not just have the system vacuumed after I install the new condenser and then regassed? Have you had your system vacuumed/regassed yet? Thanks for any help!
Hi buddy well I think there might be some truth behind that as I fitted the new one, took it to my local garage I use and trust and we vac tested it for the 5 minutes required and started putting the gas in but would only take around the 300 of the 660 that the system holds so he ran the engine for 5 mins to get some circulation going then reclaimed the gass and re vacuumed the system and left it for the 5 mins vac test required and then she took the hole 660 so there must have been some moisture in there that needed flushing that the vac couldn’t pull out
Great tutorial! I have the same car, same color too and after 10 years the condenser looks horrible. Lots of stone chips and corrosion from very salty roads. Which Mahle have you bought, the AC 666 000S? How is the quality compared to the genuine VW? Decent? Need to do the same job on mine and I'm not sure about which one I should buy.
Hi buddy glad you found it useful. I think it was that one, it is the black one on Carparts direct and the quality is spot on I can’t fault it to be fair for sun £100
Thanks for the feedback. Do you have an AC Charging machine? On this cars the engine should never run with the system on empty as the compressor is always engaged.
@@MultiPinasco no buddy I took it to my local garage I use and they gassed it up for me. You can run it without gas as I ran this for months with no gas in it and she is fine now
Funny you say this I took my b7 to ATS had air con then had none, I decided to regas myself could only get to 40psi tho before a gross leak started. Did the condenser fix yours ok?
hi i wasn't changing the radiator it was the air conditioning condenser (radiator) i changed and i had the freon gas taken out at my local garage before stripping
Not that much off eBay mate, can’t remember exactly but around £80-100. Much cheaper then the garage quoted me, they wanted £250 for it and £240 to fit it
Thanks for taking the time to share, it's really appreciated.
No problem 👍🏻

Yes mate it’s been fine since I fitted the new one
Thanks best get one ordered for mine we are 143k miles in now so probably best starting with this.
Hello! Can you tell me what is the type(name) of these alloys? thanks for the video!
Hi bud I’m not sure on the name to be honest, they are the original passat B7 sport alloys if that helps
How do you flush out the coolant before changing the radiator
hi i wasn't changing the radiator it was the air conditioning condenser (radiator) i changed and i had the freon gas taken out at my local garage before stripping
The lower hose on my ac condenser won’t go back in
Put a small amount of grease on there to aid it sliding in, I had to do that on my one
Useful video but too fast at end . Can't understand critical things
Sorry buddy. I hope you sorted it in the end 🙏🏻
Great vid however should have shown putting back together 😅
I did contemplate doing that to be fair
