How much more is needed to put the lock carrier assembly in service position?

Looks like this is the first step to removing headlight assembly. Need to remove headlight assembly to access HID D1S globe - can't access - remove/replace from D1S screw cap dust cover so need to remove headlight assembly by first removing bumper and grille. What an ordeal just to change a globe (globe cost me $140 mind you)!
Anything difficult regards removal of headlight assembly?

What about just removing the 3 lower grille parts? I want to replace just those as they have faded over the years and I want them black. I have a 2013 Passat.

Pretty sure they are clipped in but removing the bumper to access them easier to ensure nothing gets broken would be your best bet!

This vehicle did not have parking sensor or in bumper lights.
