Awesome video anytime I have gotten a bike/atv with oil pump i bypass then I have heard way to many people blow up machine because oil pump fails. Have great day
I would disable the oil pump if possible and run premix in the tank. It is also easier to put the piston in the cylinder first then put cylinder in sliding in the wrist pin though the rod and piston. That way you are not fumbling with the piston rings in a tight spot.
If you’ve ever messed with one of these or something similar, do you have a recommendation on what mix ratio to run in it? I’ve got an E-ton viper 90 for my son which I’ve been told is essentially the same mechanically as a Polaris 90 of the same era and while I haven’t done a full delete of the system, I have been trying to run it on premix and just ignoring the oil injection system. I’m not 100% sure what ratio I’ve been at but I know it’s at least a little more oily than a 50:1 ratio cause I haven’t been mixing a perfect gallon into the one gallon 50:1 bottles my father in law has around. As a matter of fact it’s possible the first tank was like 25:1 lol Only ran the quad 3-4 times and haven’t ripped on it *too* hard, but want to know if anyone’s got a recommendation while I’m working on getting it back into shape. Probably need to go up some in jet size too with the aftermarket pod filter I’m running on it in lieu of the stock style air box.
I have a similar quad. 95cc 2 stroke, x100 tantrum. Very similar to this one and also has a bad pump. Do you just use 2 stroke Lucas oil for the its oil? And what’s the ratio you use for premix?

I see these kits on eBay all time I never been brave enough to use them let me know if u have any luck with them I was going to get a big bore for my z400

i’ll stick with reading destructions enclosed with piston as rings often need adjusting and as you well know sometimes you even have to drill holes in piston. so many variations with manufacturers of aftermarket parts best to check
U should have checked the ring gap in the cylinder before u put them on the piston once they get hot they expand and if they touch it could score the cylinder wall
Try torquing ur head to spec next time. Never use a extension with a torque wrench. Ok it’s not a lot of torque but it could throw off ur specs. Also pit grease in ur head nuts and threads so it’s a proper torque as well.
@@snapfish89 will too seen it happen myself. Even heard it it from a CAT field technician and it u out a extension in a vise with a racket on the end and try to twist it. It twist. The twisting will throw off ur specs for inaccurate torque specs.
Pretty sure I remember there being a formula for adding an extension. Certain number of ft or inch lbs lost per inch of extension due to loss of geometry or whatev.
esco YES! I totally agree 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And the year I would try to get is the 2003 , the one that has ONLY 4 gears😳 , only made them like this one year! Change the front sprocket up 1 tooth from standard, change the back sprocket down 2 or 3 teeth, Get the cam from top end to more powerful midrange, then get a thin race filter for air box and chop the exhaust baffle 😎💪🏼LOADS OF TORQUE 💪🏼 I had two! One in 2005 & one in 2008 A friend of my uncle who is old school did it all in 3-4 hours, ordered the sprockets, chain and a new back tyre ., fitted them and then done the engine 👍🏼 Look out for one 🙏😉
I know these minaralli clones, it sounds like you definitely have an exhaust leak, put your hand over the exhaust tip after starting it and if still runs fine that exhaust gasket isn't installed tight enough
The first thing I’ve done with every engine that has oil injection is block off the pump and mix the gas. They are very unreliable. That one looked like it barely sent any oil up the line also.

Nice well I'm glad it worked out, to be fair I have used cheap pistons with no issue before but this one just looked super rough around where the snap rings go lol.

Yes, that quad is a 2 stroke which runs on oil and fuel that is mixed, which creates the smoke. Hope that helps.
Any suggestions on shock replacement? My kids love their 07, however it needs new shocks, worst case I can buy from Polaris. Let me know thanks.

A straight extension will have no effect on the torque wrench setting.
