Thank you for the video. I'm at the stage where I'd like to try wings and fpv (so far I've only flown with a drone) and this is perfect video for me (alongside community picks). To make matters better, I managed to buy two new darts on secondhand market :)

"To make matters better..." This guy? This guy's gonna do just fine :) I liken the difference to video games: Our 5"s are the twitch titles _Destiny_ or _R6:Siege,_ while fixed wings are _Stardew Valley_ or _Skyrim,_ super chill.

Seems that I've been missing all of the fun because I've got an original Dart V2, new in box bought back in 2019 or earlier, that has never been built out. Darren, aka Mr. D - Falling with Style, also loves his Dart V2, and displays his wing in the background of many of his videos.
I recently put in a preorder for a set of HDZero goggles and several of their various vtx units, so you have inspired me to add the Dart V2 to my flying wings. Thanks!

As my other comment disappeared, I've found the Dart 250g available, but now I see it's not it. 😬
There's the ATOMRC Mobula as well, but I don't remember much about it.
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I haven't made the jump because of the ever-increasing cost of entry, but man... it seems like every build or flight video these days are pure digital goodness!

Very nice plane. Did you know that it has 2 lead weights foamed in the nose, total 40 grams? Removed mine and on 3S 18650 it's good for 30 min fun. Bought mine a few years ago second hand with an Omnibus F3. Changed parts over the years. Now it has a Runcam Thumb Pro on top of the nose. I'll keep this Dart as my BAER, Best Analoge Experience Reference.

I light 1.7 mil laminated my original Dart and just converted mine to the INav 6, HDZero whoop lite, but with a foxeer camera. F405 wmn, Matak 2400D elrs and 3s 18650 Li-ion.Too windy to maiden so far. Although it's parts depart on crashing, mine too has a bit of UHU por from pre lamination. Landing the Dart smoothly was difficult at best. My Nano Goblin is much easier to fly, but not as sporty.

    Lee - 2 questions.
    - any issues with the (unshielded) 1S VTX interfering with your GPS receiver? I have a pair of GPS-equipped craft which struggle to acquire and maintain a lock now that I've switched them over to Walksnail (V1)
    - any plans to post the airscoop / grille you designed? I really do want to convert my Dart to HD 😄

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Год назад

No issues here but then I always separate the GPS/Compass unit well away from the HD system. The scoop was designed for the hole that was already in the model from the install of the RunCam camera - still worth sharing?

Funny how the analog builds just sit and collect dust, right?
I've got several BrainFPV RadixLIs and wing boards in digital builds and they do still work great. On the plus side you do get four full UARTs, so you can do RX, GPS, digital VTX, and not have to mess with soft serial. The downside is that it has different hardware than most boards and so Martin at BrainFPV has to push his own custom firmware every time there's an update, and that takes a little while, so no 6.0 on it just yet (5.1 is available though).

    • @Painless360

Ive watched clip & rewound several times- did I miss you mentioning the ESC/motor/prop combination?
    *Dart waffle incoming!*
My first Dart I had troubles at launch on standard 6x3 prop, some were fitting 5inch 3blades but then snapping rear, I had some Emax Avan 6x3.8x2 (down to last pack now) that seemed to do the trick & had no troubles on mostly 3S & sometimes 4S...
So when 2nd Dart was built went straight to same props & all good on 3S.
    2nd pack on 4S & ESC de-soldered bits (ruclips.net/video/kNvdBBdgoj4/видео.html)
Replaced that & motor burnt out 4th flight & first one on 4S...
Now running a 2306/2300kv Gemfan & Spedix LS40 Slim ESC on the outside + dropped in a 5v/12v 5amp BEC (new spares box specials! :v )
Managed to kill the servos at some stage & ran out of the original plastic ones...
Found VOTIK 7350MG-D to be awesome servos for the money!
Kept the wing connectors & soldered into a servo adapter, also still running original stabilizer.
Both Darts Ive flown snapped that square spar first time wing popped off so swapped that for solid 3mm round carbon rod which seems to fit hole more snuggly.
From the get-go I knew I'd thrash mine so 'built' both to last with 3x1x200mm carbon 30mm in from leading edge & added stringy packing tape leading edge & under fuselage with plain packing under wings.
Also ran 'Blundurm' tape along hinges.
Still thrashing it regular up until I did something to my radio a while back- story for another day...
A lot on right now but will be back at it when time allows...
Meanwhile, I had 2sent to me via a mate in Svvveden that usually paints awesome miniature scale models trying something different for a change... :D
And yes, he's seen how I tend to land 'em! :v
    ruclips.net/video/_ErIzarf8_E/видео.html
Thanks for sharing this clip & hope your poor li'l Dart serves you well for some time to come!
BTW; Dart v2 seemed to get most votes on ZOHD's recent "which one to bring back poll" on FB, was kinda disappointed it was the Drift, but maybe next time?
