It always blows me away that their guitarist, Brian May, isn't just one of the best guitarists of all time and actually hand-built his guitar that he played in the band, but he's also a Doctor of Astrophysics - which he was in college for when the band formed, and then went back decades later to finish his doctoral thesis on "The Motions of Interplanetary Dust," which earned him his PhD in 2007. Also, if you really wanna hear his best guitar solo work, it doesn't get better than 'Brighton Rock' with some killer falsetto work by Freddie. I'm so glad I got to see them live twice back in the day.
him and his father built the guitar out of various fireplace and mantle pieces as well as some odd bits as he put it.
And he also uses an old sixpence piece as a plectrum as he liked the metal sound of it
Don't forget that the amp Brian uses was invented by their bass player John Deacon.
I couldn't agree with you more. Brian May is so good on the guitar and not a lot of people talk about it.
Ive been 10 feet from Brian and the red special. It has some mysterious.power
More Queen!! Freddie is the only frontman I’ve ever seen in over 40 concerts who literally controls the crowd, beginning to end with his immeasurable charisma and talent. The backing vocals of of Brian May and Roger Taylor, and near perfection of John Deacon’s bass guitar round out one of the greatest bands of all time.
Definitely not a talent unique to Freddy. For example, Prince absolutely controlled the crowd. I will say, however, that it was more common to have front men who could do so back then than it is today.
@@ronnix23
I'd have to look up videos
Maybe things were different in the uk.
A music journalist said she had never seen someone interact/ control an audience like Freddie did.
Brian said when Freddie was suggesting more interaction and involvement of the crowd he said rock bands just didnt do that they performed their song and thats it.
Brian found it irritating at first then later liked the idea
Meat Loaf could control the crowd also.
For those arguing the point of Freddie I made, please read carefully. I said of all I have seen. No arguments against your favored frontman. However, anyone who did not see Queen live, they really cannot fathom just how strong Freddie’s charisma was when he was onstage.
@@NOLAgenX I was not arguing that Freddy couldn’t absolutely control a crowd. I agree with you that he did. You said that you hadn’t seen anyone else who could do it. I have so that’s why I gave you my example of Prince. I also agree with you that it’s a rare talent.
He will never be replicated by anyone or anything. Seriously though no one will ever come close to Freddie Mercury ever again.
There is only ONE Freddy, and never will there be another. The universe couldn't handle two...
When the world stops considering children's music like Taylor Swift as art, maybe...
You must, must, must react to Queen at the Live Aid Concert. Absolutely iconic.
Nothing tops that set !!!
THE best live performance of all time...a must react
Everybody seems to forget "Is this the world we created" from the same concert done later in the night
@@peterd5102 you are absolutely right. Considering what this concert was for, out was perfect.
YES! 👏🤘
I love Don’t stop me now. Then again I can’t think of a song I don’t like by Queen. No one could compare to Freddie Mercury.
There's also only one Brian May. He changed the game for guitarists too.
There is one song called after Freddie’s cat Delilah that is not my favourite - sorry Freddie! I’m sure Delilah was a gorgeous cat. Maybe I should listen to it again…..
You can't not be in a happy mood listening to this song!
Freddie was a mega talent but he couldn't control the others. BM and RT put out quite a few duds. Album fillers. Roger was worse.
Dude... NEVER pause during Brian's solo!!! 🙂
I was looking in the comments to see if someone else was bothered by this. They pause it in all the worst places and then don't bring it back..ugghhh..
It’s brutal when they stop in all the wrong places. Just sit back and chill......we’ll chat after song. 🤫🤫
@@davemac5260 I know, not once, not twice but three times...man.
Yep, sad. They definitely cut in too many times anymore.
Amen but no way to know if they read these because I NEVER see any replies or even confirmation they read the comments.
You can never go wrong with this group.. how about one not overplayed but a great song none the less... Spread Your Wings.. Always wonderful reactions.
One of my favorites is Spread your wings. Feel it doesn't get the credit it deserves.
@@shellyorourke3632 this one! ruclips.net/video/uyd6OLyhPJo/видео.html
Live Killers album !!! :)))))
Yes, Randy. That one.
Great choice! Spread your wings is genius. Queens best song for me!
Freddie was one of the top frontmen ever , if not THE BEST. We have missed you so so much Freddie!!
Freddie was the best, there is a big drop to number two.
A little man named Mick
@@danhurd9864 nah, Freddie over Mick any day.
@@strahinjagov not the major drop the previous writer wrote…Mick was the frontman template
@@danhurd9864 agree to disagree I guess.
You need to watch Queen's set at Live Aid, to see how one man can have a crowd of 100k in the palm of his hand
My one regret in life is that I never got to see Queen and the amazing Freddie Mercury live. He didn't just stand on stage and sing but used every inch available to PERFORM. Pure magic!
If you want more rock and roll Queen, hammer to fall is probably Queens most unappreciated hidden gem and one of their most rocking tunes!
Agreed!
Agreed and what a live performance at Live Aid!
Agree but I especially love the live aid performance of it, that’s the version I always go to
And don't forget "One Vision."
"Hammer" is easily one of my favorite rockers from Queen. My Mom got me The Works album for Xmas 1984 (on glorious vinyl of course) and it blew me away. I think that's when I really started appreciating Queen.
You should do "The Show Must Go On" next. It's probably Freddie's greatest vocal performance, and that is an exceptionally high bar.
I love the Show Must Go On!
Agreed.
The story behind that song is amazing - as told by Brian May, Freddie was weak and in his final months of his battle with AIDS…Brian said to Freddie he was worried about the high notes and didn’t want Freddie to strain himself and Freddie said, “Don’t worry, I’ll f***ing nail it, darling”. He downed a couple of shots of vodka and out came that performance. His delivery of that song is truly everything and the lyrics are so poignant given his fight with the disease. It’s such a remarkable song and performance.
Absolutely but also mother love from the same album is also Absolutely amazing Freddie at his best even tho he was also at his weakest point health wise and it would turn out to be his last vocal performance
The best song to listen to on repeat!! 🥰
Love Queen. Freddie Mercury was a true performance genius.
My father had the “Jazz” cassette, which this song is on. And I would have him rewind it over and over in the car, to the point where it was almost annoying. Being a little kid, he gladly obliged though. I just couldn’t get enough of this song. It was just so fun, upbeat and the lyrics felt like a comic book in music form. To this day, it holds a special place in my heart. Great memories!!!
" fun, upbeat and the lyrics felt like a comic book in music form" so well put
Guitarist Brian May is an actual astrophysicist!!
That's right! He does spooky action at a distance with his guitar!
That is spooky. This song came on the radio today and I thought to myself "Rob Squad should react to this"
Much love from England 🏴
I saw Queen once in 1978. Freddie Mercury blew me away. His voice was so powerful and he was a true showman. I wish I could have seen him again. Miss you Freddie. 🙏
Sadly he died a year before the functional cure for HIV became available. If he could have clung on to life one more year, he would still be here and performing today.
I was lucky enough to see Freddie and Queen 4x's in my youth. And even from the cheap seats of the auditorium he OWNED the crowd. The Master!
I am super late to the party of reaction videos, but I'm just an old hippie. I listen to music way more than I watch tv and love music videos on RUclips. Watching young people be exposed to the music I grew up with and still listen to warms my heart more than I can say. I've really gotten into all of the reactions, but you two have really struck a chord for me. You can see that your are both committed to each other and your family. And you have such open minds when it comes to music. I was raised on old country, big bands, the Rat Pack and such. I remember getting my first transistor radio which meant I could get FM stations out of St Louis. Queen & Freddie are my all time favorite. I saw them in 1978 when I was 16 yrs old. This song has become my daily devotion. I listen to it every day on my way to work and it just puts me in the best of moods. You cannot be crabby after listening to Freddie sing this song.
I'm so glad to see you two haven't stopped making videos! Most of the people I've found gave up about the time Covid subsided. I suppose these videos came out of the pandemic to start with? You do a great job and I'm enjoying watching you very much! ✌
The biggest difference between this era's music and the past is that everyone had their own sound even if was the same genre.
Freddie Mercury is THE frontman and his voice one of a kind!
Oh man can't go wrong with Queen!
Great Song. When Mercury died, the world lost a hell of a Performer. When Queen performed at Live Aid, they owned the Show.
Yes! Freddie and Queen! This is my go-to happy song. You can't listen to this and not feel good!
You guys are a hitting a lot of their biggest songs, but oh how I'd love it if you reacted to Death On Two Legs. And I don't think you've done it yet, but Killer Queen is a must-hear classic. And just for the laughs, you should do the theme song from the Flash Gordon movie - "Flash!!! Ah-a-aaa!!! Savior of the universe!"
They have done killer queen but flash Gordon I don't remember if they have and death on two legs is good also
Flash is so good. 👍
@@colemitchell228 I love it!
Although the Flash Gordon movie is pretty cheesy (I'm still a fan), the soundtrack is a solid piece of work. "In the Space Capsule" is a beautiful instrumental. And the song that plays over the end credits, "The Hero," is an overlooked Queen rocker.
This song just reminds me of being a kid in the late 80`s in South Africa, the first non government run, pay per view channel on t.v started up called M-Net, you needed a special decoder box to watch it, they used this song in all of their advertisements and my mom always used to perk up and sing along...she was a huge Queen fan...I can still see the advert running in my head whenever I hear this song...
For me, as a kid in the 80`s, the film The Highlander is my favorite Queen era, "Who Wants To Live Forever?" still makes the hair on my arms stand up to this day!
You could do Queen everyday and never be disappointed. Try "We are the Champions" "The Show must go on" or Freddies duet with Montserrat Caballe "Barcelona". Trust me you will be blown away. Much love from England 🏴
Don't forget their set at live aid probably the best live performance ever .
Agree with Barcelona amazing duet.
@@catherinebrown9482 Freddtie and Montserrat......Ensueno......Beautiful
I've heard many great rock vocalists in my time (Hetfield, McCartney, Rose, Cobain, Jagger...) but there's just something about Freddie's voice that was just so mesmerizing and electrifying simultaneously that convinced me that he was the greatest rock vocalist/performer of all time! FREDDIE MERCURY/Farrokh Bulsara (1946-1991)
Yes, one of my favorite Queen songs
The Show Must Go On
Who Wants To Live Forever
I’m Going Slightly Mad
YAY-Queen, the best along with Led Zeppelin. I compare them in the fact that all 4 members of the band were equally important to the music like Zep. Freddie was the frontman with his vocals but they would not be Queen without the expertise of all 4 of them.
The two bands that are most often mentioned as the greatest rock band of all time on here and online generally (The Beatles were the greatest band of all time, of course)
Led Zeppelin and Queen both had massive sales figures and huge influence. Also both are often mentioned as having created the greatest rock song of all time, Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody.
Freddie always considered himself to be a performer, not "just" a singer. He took great pride in performing for his audiences.
This is literally my ALL TIME favorite Queen song! Anytime I get depressed or my anxiety goes crazy, I just play this song and it immediately lifts my spirits so seeing you both react to it made me SUPER happy
Freddie has got to be one of the best ever singers in rock. Just such a range.
This song will always be a crowd pleaser, Queen will never fail to make you smile.
Please add - Show Must Go On - One Vision & A Kind Of Magic to your list of reactions, you won't be disappointed 🤘
Queen had many great songs so it is very hard to pick just one, but, this one is my favorite.
One of my favorite Queens songs, it’s hard not to get into this song! Still waiting for “Killer Queen” 😊
Yes, killer Queen and White Queen. White Queen is hauntingly beautiful
Definitely. Love Seven Seas of Rye as well.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 900TH VIDEO!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 It's true, Jay, you did "Bohemian Rhapsody" in your first week. And ELEVEN times since then. And so many more to go!
It amazes every time I hear the fact that Queen Greatest Hits ( The first one ) released in 1981 has spent over 1000 weeks or every week in the last 41 years, in the UK album charts!
And hit the number 1 spot again in 2021
@@seanwilliams9443 it’s never going away!
Who here watched Highlander. If you like Queen you will love this movie.
"Who wants to live forever?"
The thing about queen was not only were they a legendary band but all were ever smart and talented in life. the bassist is an electronics engineer. The drummer was a dental doctor. And the guitarist is a do or in astrophysics. And Freddie was a graphic artist. All graduated from college with excellent grades.
He had been studying but Roger never qualified as a dentist
This song makes me happy. I will blast it every time I hear it.
Yes this is one of the greats!!! ❤️ I also love I Want To Break Free!
'Who Wants to Live Forever' from the 'Highlander' soundtrack. Also, 'Love of My Life'.
honestly, i think there are only a handful of performers that are unlike ANYONE else..... Freddie Mercury is definitely one of them....!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is so contagious in its hype and feel good vibe, it's like a singing motivational speech. Either motivates you to do the dishes or to tackle a predicament.
Awesome reaction as always.
One of my favs by Queen is Stone Cold Crazy. It really rocks!!!! So much that Metallica covered it live. it's a short song if you do both back to back in one video, that would be frickin awesome!
Kudos also to the fantastic musicians in Queen: Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor. Needless to say Freddie Mercury was the nucleus. Miss him so much. He was a giant!!!
One of the things about Queen; any one of them could have been the breakout star in ANY other band had they not joined forces. Queen is a musical Voltron. All of them could have been the top of the world by themselves. Combining their talents, they created music that will, at least, be as well known as the classical greats.
One of the best voices in rock n roll.
The best
Oh how I wish I had seen Queen in concert before we lost Freddie 💝👑
Absolute classic, listen at full volume and NEVER pause a Queen tune !
Oh Queen!! Nobody can match Freddie when it comes to ripping it with his audience!! So fun to watch, listen to & a master of creativity!! Love you Freddie!!
♥️The old white woman
Yes, more Queen! You can't go wrong with Queen. I haven't begged for this in a while but I honestly think you'd both absolutely love to hear Freddie with Montserrat Caballe singing "Barcelona." Talk about rock/opera! She was a force within her own right. Paired with Freddie they were a force to be reckoned with!
I’m so glad you’ve finally reacted to this song and what a song it is. Just puts me in a good mood immediately after it starts.
‘Who wants to live forever’ next please 🙏🏻
This is a particularly special Queen song to me. Many rides to the arena with my daughter belting this out the whole way! Good times! 🎉🎉🎉🤩🤩🤩
Yes Queen ❤️, I love this Band and I love this songs, for me Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Prince are sorely missed.

Queen - The Show Must Go On
Queen - Mother Love
Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé - Barcelona and How Can I Go On
For the view of the ultimate Freddie watch the 20 minute live aid performance, just when queen were quieter on the music scene they came and stole the entire show with simply 20 sublime minutes that show Freddie hold thousands of fans in the palm of his hand. Please watch this.
Should watch Queen's set at Live Aid 1985. One of the best live performances of all time.
Might I recommend "Save Me" from Rocks Montreal 1981. It was a new song off the Game album and was a real crowd pleaser when I saw them at MSG in 1980.
Oh yea, that is a spectacular performance
I agree with others- Queens Live Aid is a must watch! His command of the audience is unmatched.
Freddie was one of the very very few artists that once on stage was a completely different person to off it. But once on he had the audience under his spell and they would be taken on a magical journey.
Queen, a great Rock band. Goosebumps all over. 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶👍
My favorite song of Queen, love seeing your reactions to this great classic song
Freddie's "Opera" duet with Montserrat Caballe "Barcelona" is STUNNING!!!
Oh yes 👍100% must watch. 😘
You often say Rob, that you love piano….please check out White Queen at Odeon Hammersmith, one of the best performances of Queen, ever. Piano & guitar duet is outstanding!!!
When you have a lead singer with a 4 octave voice, you can do the kind of numbers that no other band can. Queen was blessed with Freddie Mercury!
Queen created such a great repertoire that over the years amounted to a wonderful variety of memorable songs that people will continue to enjoy for many years to come. Their early work set the tone with classics like Now I'm Here, Seven Seas of Rhye, Tie Your Mother Down, Killer Queen.
I prefer the earlier stuff and those tracks are all stormers
Scientifically proven to be the Happiest song.. Produces the most feel good hormones then any other song
I got to see them!!! When they came out with another one bites the dust.. Was just another concert for me back in the day.. but now??? Wow what I had the previlege to see
A Winter's Tale is a must. Written and sung in the last few months of his life. It's about the view he seen from his window. Knowing he didn't have long left in this world. It really is beautiful, stunning in fact. IMO.
You are so true. It's so beautiful, yet haunting knowing what Freddie was going through. In fact, I just love the whole Made in Heaven album.
You should definitely watch Freddie Mercury's classic song BARCELONA where he duets with a special female artist. It is epic.
Have you watched "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Rami Malek won the Best Actor for it.
Holy moly , Freddie Mercury is a true entertainer and Queen is absolutely amazing !!!! I introduced Queen music to my daughter when she was about 4-5 years old and she is 18 going to be 19 in 6 weeks , point is that she absolutely loves and is a die hard fan of Queen
This song has such a place in my heart. I performed improv for about 10 yrs & this was the song my troupe would start our shows with. Our cue to run up the stairs & onto stage was the 1st "Don't stop me now".
"Now I'm Here" is another excellent Queen song awaiting your critique! Headphones are a must for this track, you can thank me later.
Everytime I hear this song, it always leaves me wanting more with the way he ends it.
A beautiful love song Freddie sings is "You Take My Breath Away", 1976 Hyde Park. A free concert Queen did. Just Freddie and a piano. He tells the audience that they will want to hear this and it gets very quiet until the end of the song.
My favorite Queen song. Such an amazing composition, the vocal arrangements are awesome, Freddy's voice is in perfect form as he's singing his own anthem. The piano carries the energy and Brian's solo is 🔥
Great reaction guys. It's impossible for me to hear this song without thinking of the "Shaun of the dead" scene.
Theatricality is the word you are looking for. That's what Glam is all about.
As a huge Queen Fan just Found out: Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen is officially the world’s happiest song, according to science
...and this makes me happy 😂
Queen...I'll watch anytime. Good reaction!
“Now I’m Here” live from Wembley 1986 is a great song/performance! 🔥
You should try some Dr. Hook. "When you're in love with a beautiful woman" would be a good one to star with.
One of my favorite lyrics in this great song (there are many!):
“I’m a superstar shooting through the sky like a tiger- defying the laws of GRRRRRAVVVVVVVITYYYY!”
😆😆😆😆😄🥹😅🎸🎤😎
There's no way I can hear this song and not see THAT scene from "Shaun of the Dead" in my head. Classic song!
You still should check out Princes of the Universe and Who Wants to live forever. Both from the movie Highlander.
Styx with Denis DeYoung, Elton John, early David Bowie, and Genesis with Peter Gabriel all had a strong theatrical nature. Some would put Kiss on the list, but they are all theatrics w/o much substance.
Welcome to the Queen Earworm that Never Dies!! You'll now be going about your life, thinking you're driving, bathing, playing, but what you're actually doing is singing this song to yourself either in your head or out loud, depending on the company. 😅
You need to do Show Must Go On or Days of Our Lives, OR.... Who wants to live forever, the album version (the radio edit cuts off a great instrumental ending).
I once ranked all of my favorite Queen songs.. and this one kept pushing to the top of the list, surpassing all the other favorites.. time after time.. until I finally said.. yep.. that's it. This is my all-time favorite.
Don't get me wrong I like Meatloaf but, Freddie and Queen are a one of a kind band. I feel they are truly the BEST. There will never be another. God I miss him.😥 They were a band that included their audience with every song.
We need some “Hammer To Fall” or “Keep Yourself Alive” or “Killer Queen”
Somebody to love and another one bites the dust by Queen 👍🥰
Nobody better than Freddie and Queen! My go to music anytime.
Freddie was probably the greatest front man in the game.
"The Game", I get it!
ELO's "Rockaria" combines opera and rock and is definitely worth a reaction.
So is "Fire On High". One of my faves.
A lot of music critics and fans consider this song to be one of the happiest songs of all time.
For Freddie's would be 65th birthday, Google used it as a doodle as a tribute.
This is my absolute favorite Queen song. You simply can't take your eyes of Freddie Mercury.
If they haven't heard this song, they clearly need to see Shaun Of The Dead!
PS - Have you guys considered having an easy to check list of the songs you've reacted to? It's not always so easy to search the RUclips vids by name if you can't remember the exact name of the song
One of my favorite Queen songs! You can’t help but have a good time when listening to this song- an absolute mood booster!
My favorite Queen hit!
So happy y'all got to this Queen ( Freddie) the video is awesome x10000 🤩🤩🤩🎶🎶🎶🔥🔥🔥
