  • Home exchange or home swap as it's also known is an absolutely amazing way to save money when you're going on holiday. As a family, we've hardly paid anything for accommodation over the last seven years. We've almost exclusively exchanged houses. It means we can go on more holidays and go holiday for longer and stay in some amazing places which would ordinarily be really expensive to stay in. We were able to go to Vancouver for a family wedding and pay £0 to stay in downtown for two weeks. Amazing! We have literally saved thousands of pounds over the years, simply by welcoming people into our home.
    In this video I explain how it works, some of the pros and also the cons of home exchange.

    I've been on home exchange for 3 years and I love it. I've met some of the best hosts through the platform. It can take a long time to secure an exchange with hosts but it takes patience on your part. It's definitely worth it.

    Absolutely fantastic insights, and I've never understood the idea of buying a place abroad if you only visit once or twice a year 😱
    If I ever own my own property in the future, this is definitely going to be on my list 😎

      I can understand living 6 months here, 6 months there or if you’re going to eventually move there but otherwise buy assets to cash flow renting places anywhere or, home exchange! 🏠↔️🏡

    would you mind sharing how you accumulate guestpoints please? I'm getting very excited over this! Could spend all day looking for houses around the world! :))

    • @DafyddMorse
      @DafyddMorse  11 месяцев назад

      You get your first guest points by signing up (I think a few bonus ones if you use my link!) and doing various introductory things like filling in your house information, verifying your identity etc. You usually then have enough to go somewhere to try the system out. Then you get more GP by letting people stay in your house, which you then use to go on holiday somewhere else! Simples!

    what do i do about clearing out the wardrobes? I don't have further storage space. Any ideas?!

    • @DafyddMorse
      @DafyddMorse  11 месяцев назад

      We actually don't worry about clearing the wardrobes, although I'm currently in France and have appreciated having a couple of drawers to put our stuff in so it's really about figuring out what space you can squeeze out. It doesn't have to be a lot!

    Can reciprocal exchanges not be at the same time ?

    • @DafyddMorse
      @DafyddMorse  8 месяцев назад +1

      Reciprocal exchanges can be at different times. We haven't done one of those yet because it involves more calendar manipulation that we can bear to think about!

    Most of the people don't accept GuestPoints tho, is it right?

    • @DafyddMorse
      @DafyddMorse  2 года назад

      There are some that only want to do reciprocal exchanges but there are plenty of people who are happy to use GuestPoints. We're going away to two places in the summer and one is using GP and one is reciprocal. It's great! I would say that most people are happy to accept GP.
