Was worried about the $100 price increase but think the 7 year OS promise kind of makes up for it. 256gb base model variant would have been preferred for me too. Other than that everything looks solid far as I can tell. Again I still the Google 8 is probably the better overall deal though like I did with the Google Pixel 7 last year. Still it you want the best experience the 8 Pro is the best way to go.

7 years is a very bold guarantee on OS and security updates (because batteries start to experience latency after 3 years ? I believe around the 4th year Google's going to want you to trade in that Pixel 8 and get their latest device with a better Tensor Chipset which will not be a co-manufacture with Samsung, so now it's more than just guaranteed OS and security updates - it's who's going to have the most generous upgrade offer, Google or Samsung).
Everything you want as far as camera, stock Android, battery management, build quality you are going to get with a Google Pixel (I don't think we're going to see the cheaper A Model this year, you are only going to have choices between Base Model and Pro Model).
There's going to be those that still want a Samsung Galaxy S23 , there's going to be those that want the Pixel 8 (and those willing to spend a little more to get there Pixel 8 Pro) - I'm actually waiting to see which Carriers are going to offer the best deal on a Pixel 8 / 8 Pro (you are correct in that the Best Buy has the best deal right now) - and you know I'm quite happy with a mid-tier device.
Bay is an interesting blue color on the Pro 8, I kind of like the grey-ish Hazel on the 8 (I really do like Silver and Chrome).
Every Android Device Manufacturer has to compete against Apple's iPhone if they want to claim the Best Flagship Phone 👑 (even Apple can't be lax with regards to innovation / build quality). I honestly want to see all Manufacturers offer a top notch mid-range at $399, and yes this means I'd like to see Motorola try for 2 OS Updates + 4 years of Security Patches.

Have had the Pixle Pro 8 for a day and am disappointed by the poor build quality. The aluminum frame is poorly adapted to the phone, the edge of the frame feels cheap, there are gaps at the corners. My 4-year-old One plus Nord has much better build quality. I am also not impressed by the video camera, a lot of flickering when I move the camera. The mobile has a lot of features that you were impressed by 20 years ago. Don't be fooled by the guys who are sponsored by Google, they have been bought and paid for.
