Your streets are so clean and your sidewalks too. I was watching our webcam during Helene and things were flying down the street. Little bits of tree. Not a lot. And the power stayed on. Not during Milton. And we didn't stay although we could have. We are still waiting for rain so that we can see whether there are any more holes in the roof. It's been weeks. They said something about houses that were built after and this one was built in 69 or something so... I was just more worried about days and days of power outage. I've done that twice before and once at work, 2004 was fun. Kamikaze squirrel I was told and of course everybody was out putting back the power for large numbers of people and they got around to us when they could. And at home we were like four houses on the end of the street on one side so it took 4 days. But I heard stories of people near rivers where it was like 17 days or something and I'm so glad we don't live near a river. I was always happy not to live near the ocean. I lived closer to the ocean in Salem and I didn't even know it until I moved away. I should have noticed the other end of the street was flooding but I didn't. I should have noticed when my landlady got a generator during Hurricane Bob so she could run the pump in the cellar to pump out the water from the cellar but No. And hurricane Gloria up in Waltham was about a 12-hour power outage and that was it. And that was probably good because after that it was like 80° and it was the end of September in Massachusetts. And then we flew to Denver where it was snowing. My boots do not fit in a suitcase.

Hurricanes big or small will always impact someone. We've been through many, taking damage and loosing power for prolonged periods, so when we decided to build, hurricane survivability was up front and center.. Not just the houses construction, but the entire community planning.....Milton put it to the test, and we were all lucky to ride through it unscathed.
