    Had my 6hp about 6 months. Still looks new, been out to sea about 8 times. Starts first pull every time. Loving it. £440. HAD SUZUKI 9.9HP before it which was tad quieter but just too heavy to lift on and off boat and walk 100 yards up beach at low tide.. Just throw this on my shoulder, all I can manage at 55.

    I've had mine for a few years and beat on it an it's great for the price. Nice and quiet to. I run true fuel witch is expensive but it's non ethanol and never have carb issues

    I have the same engine. One thing to note, I only run 93 octane gas from Shell in it. I was running 90 octane rec fuel (no ethanol) and it would constantly putter out at died...could be a bad batch of rec fuel, but the shell 93 runs great.

    I have a 13' Saturn inflatable boat and I'm looking at getting the 6hp over the 12. Because most of the time I'm the only one who is using the boat for fishing, but with my family I just want to have it for a comfy cruiser.
    Thanks

    • @ShevyMcC
      @ShevyMcC  2 года назад +1

      It should be just right! I have recently upgraded to a 25hp and I think think the 12 would be a good option too can run the same speed with less rps so it would be a little quiter.

  • @DrHamiltonESmith
    @DrHamiltonESmith 5 месяцев назад

    Where'd you get the fuel tank and gas line from? I thought the 2 stroke doesn't come with it from the factory... just the internal tank with the option to hook up an external one. Can you clarify?

    Dude I just got mine. I'm putting it on a little bit bigger boat. I'm really tempted to use two and run staring cables. Really curious how it will go. However I'm tearing out some of my flooring and gonna rebuild it lighter then repaint so I have a ways to go before mine sees the water in full force.

    Did the vibration ever improve on your motor? I see there are some that have worse vibration than others, but im 5 hours into the break in period and it vibrates so much I feel like the boat will vibrate apart. Just wasnt sure if after the break in period and the longer you use it, the vibration gradually decreases.

    • @ShevyMcC
      @ShevyMcC  4 месяца назад +1

      It doesn't ever get as smooth as a johnson or evinrude. I would say it gets a little better. I would just find a good rpm that is the smoothest.

    • @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978
      @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978 4 месяца назад

      @SM-Tackle ok thanks. Yeah I know this motor is basically the same as a mercury or Tohatsu and they vibrate as well.
      Johnson and Evinrude motors are fantastic motors. It sad that they went out of business.
      I'll send an update once I get some hours on this engine. Thanks.

    • @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978
      @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978 4 месяца назад

      @SM-Tackle Update - been running it for 12 hours now, finishing off the 25:1 gas that's in the tank then will go to 50:1. Got 3 gallons of gas with the 25:1 and I wasn't expecting this engine to be super fuel efficient, but it does excellent on gas.
      Running it at half throttle, the vibrations are very tolerable now. No aggressive vibrations anymore. 3/4 throttle still a little shaky but getting better. Probably will pur once I get about 20 hours on the engine, yet I may not get that many by October, cause then I'll need to put it in storage for the winter. So far, on the 14 ft aluminum boat that we have, with me and someone else, it goes about 8 to 9.5 mph, and with 3 people we get about 5 to 7 mph. Me alone I get about 11 mph, so not bad.
      So far very solid motor. Very happy with it.
