I bought a white one just like it last year from the same place. It was on my doorstep in less than 24 hours. It was a great way to buy a new outboard. I did the first several hours of break-in in a clean, humongous garbage container. You just have to monitor the water temperature because it will heat up. I had to change it a couple of times during the process. I can now run it wide open for 5 minutes at a time. I’m very satisfied with the power.

Is it a smooth motor ?

@@timhudson1846 Despite the fact that it is the lightest Japanese 6 HP, 4-stroke outboard due to the use of special aluminum alloys over steel, it is also the largest in displacement, which means it doesn't have to rev as high or work as hard to provide the same amount of power as the others. This trait gives it a solid "thump" that you can feel through the tiller, but it isn't really much of a bother. In the motorcycle world it is like a Harley V-twin vs an inline 4. As anyone who has ridden both will tell you, though the high pitched "buzz" of the 4 cylinder seems smoother, it has a tendency to numb extremities and become uncomfortable, whereas the low frequency "rumbling" cadence of the Harley actually "coddles" joints and muscles, and has a massaging effect. So it is with the lightweight DF6 outboard and its one large piston and long connecting rod. It shakes at certain speeds, but it doesn't necessarily fatigue your arm.
      I hope that makes sense.

My last motor was a 2006 4hp Tohatsu, I had lots of issues with the cooling system ,I always worried about getting stranded and the last time it overheated I decided to upgrade

I’m new to boating. I just got the same motor and I was wondering once break in is complete, is it ok to run these (or any 4 stroke outboard) at full throttle 70-80 percent of the time? Assuming I’m maintaining it properly of course. My dock is about 8-10 miles from the areas I want to fish and it would be pretty great if I could get there quicker.

I think so, but I do believe it is smart to keep doing the 4 to 5 min idle warm up from cold start

Hello from the Truman lake area.. Missouri.
So how's your Suzuki 6hp doing now ?
    I'm a big guy .. 6'2" and 290#
I've got a old Alweld jon boat 14/36..
Wanting to do the go play in the lake stuff this year.
I think you've sold me on the Suzuki.. get you up on plane?
Talking to my banker.. he said he'd finance me for three years on a motor.. be slightly less than fifty bucks a month.
Thinking that'd be cheap enough for a few years of fun.
    Enjoy your videos

Thank you for your comment and question. My boat is a 14 x 36 and I bought the 6 hp motor online outboards.com has some financing options I paid 1335 for the motor with no tax and free shipping. If you check out PayPal PayPal will allow you to finance this motor with 0% interest if you pay it off in six months, so you can set up an auto pay for like 250 something a month and pay it off in five months with no interest that way you’re getting the motor with no interest no taxes and no shipping a flat 1335

@@semooutdooradventures2908 thank you for your reply and advise ; is the motor smooth ? Seems very quiet 👍.
I have an old 1983 Evinrude 15hp short shaft..
      It's smooth. Good power
It's a little bit noisy, was just thinking about a four stroke.. giving this lots of thought.
