Hi Andrew sir. 5th September is celebrated as teachers' day in India. And on this teachers' day, I accept you as my drawing teacher. I'm really very inspired by your art.
Horses are one of my favorite subjects to paint. I'm self taught and even though I have been painting them for many years I'm still inspired by artist like you and Tony O'Connor. Thank you, Andrew for your kindness and generosity in making these videos.
You’re the one stop everything you need to learn about oil. Absolutely incredible works and fine details. A real artist and an amazing teacher!!! Thank you so much.
These Painting Portrait series are an absolute joy to watch. I love how you explain everything in depht, how and why you chose your references and models, and how you see them in your paintings. Thank you so much for these videos and I can't wait for the next episode!
You were after an engaging contrast ... you succeeded in Spades! Apart from being a fine piece of artistic work, the capturing of the personalities of man and horse is breathtaking. I have come back to view this painting many times and it always seems fresh and alive. Thank you for such a wonderful image.
You are a master at your profession without a question. You explain everything very precisely with the viewer in mind. Thank you for sharing your talent. I hope to one day paint at your skill level.
i don"t speak english well. I'll just say there is no words to describe my admiration for your work.thank you for every second of your time dedicated to us. you are God of painting.greatings from Serbia!
I've never seen an artist put so much preliminary work into a piece. And it really comes through in the final painting. You've given me a lot to think about and much more to aspire to. ha.
What an amazing painter, and one of the best most concise teachers I've come across. You vocalize all the important parts of your thought process and the problem solving for your paintings. I've learned so much, I'll definitely be buying some of your lessons.
Andrew you are a truly amazing artist and communicator, I am over twice your age,and have painted for 30 years, but I have rarely seen artists of your ability Peter dee.
I've been painting all my life; self taught and right good at it. Your videos are just wonderful! I most appreciate how you identify your errors and discuss the way you fix them. Marvelous, marvelous. Blessings to you and yours.
Thank you so much Andrew. I learnt so much by watching this video such as bouncing light on the next subject, details when you thought you're finished and other things that sometimes an artist missed while painting.
Sometimes it's lovely just seeing your sketch rather than the final piece because in itself the delicate marks already give definition to the story and subject matter. For example, when you first started painting in the guy's face was wonderful, just seeing small strokes which implied his profile, his moustache, and added light. Love it :)
its a pleasure to comment on youre stuff andrew i like it very much keep up the good work and inspire eveyone to follow in youre footsteps come on people start painting its a good way to relax and forget about the world and its troubles
Wow! Your paintings really blow me away...and needless to say, your are a fantastic teacher. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us. You have sparked the joy in my art world for me. Your the best :)
For what it is worth.... THIS is my favorite portrait that you have accomplished. The horse is very good but the friend is superb! I don't miss some of the detail of some of your other portraits. Wonderful what you did with the guy's color and how it reflects off other stuff. (stuff= excessively excessive word for, things....). Thanks.
Joe B. here again, I cannot thank you enough, I'm learning more every time I watch your vids. That do it yourself color wheel helped me tremendously. I can't thank you enough.
Well Andrew, I've been watching your videos with interest for a few months now interspersed with Chuck Black and Steve Atkinson. I find that you all three speak to me in language and structure that I understand, can internalize actually put into practice (albeit at a beginner level) and I just wanted to say thank you for your own unique and particular care guidance and attention to you 'proteges'
wow Andrew; many bravo, your work painting a portrait; Episode Five-Creating a Story is more than wonderful ; i am one of your french fan from Québec Canada, and many thanks to be there for us;
Andrew I just wanna say that you are an amazing artist. I learned so much from your videos. I really really appreciate your videos and the time you dedicate to make them available for us to watch and learn. Thank you very much.
Wonderful how you go step by step from taking the videos and photos l live in Ballarat and can appreciate what you are doing with the beautiful countryside l have been painting for a while and want to venture into the animals that we love thanks for the tutorial Robyn
you are absolutely amazing. i've been painting since school but after stopping in between the biggest problem i am having is that i lost my confidence n ease in my hand. what i love about ur videos is that it makes me feel confident. the way u explain specially, and the ease i see in ur hand motivates me to improve my painting. thank you for ur videos :)
Hey Andrew, the light on the scarf is really interesting to look at, it really pops. I think my favorite part of the painting is the face, the way the light is hitting the mustache. I can't wait to see another episode. Thanks Andrew!
this is the best youtube art channel i have ever seen in my life, i have watched your all videos and it was more than awesome, you inspired me a lot thank you andrew , and please give us more and more
Really amazing painting. It was such an eye opener to see you doing detail with bristle brushes. I had always believed that you needed tiny synthetic brushes for detail. But when I try to do it with them it's a bit like spreading cement with a feather and never looks right. Thank you for all your instruction in these videos they are a big help to a self taught artist, that has done most things the hard way.
Spreading cement with a feather? You might just see me steal that term and put it in a video! Love it. I hear you. Detail is an illusion, what ever gets you the mark that allows brushstrokes to melt into each other at a distance will create a convincing sense of reality. It's not so much what you use, but how you use it! Way to go for being self taught. We should start a club!
Always looking for ways to improve my painting skills. Even though my medium is acrylics, your insights presented in your videos are extremely valuable and easily adaptable to all mediums. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Andrew. Your work is absolutely gorgeous. I appreciate the reminder to turn down portrait commissions if I can't do my own photos. I have been working over 100 hours on a large, formal oil portrait pieced together from a collection of pretty bad photos from a customer who lives several states away. Trying to explain to someone how you want the light to hit their face just doesn't seem to fly! No more compromises for this gal...
Well done there NettieKStudio! I know the feeling when you have to use sub-standard reference. It's far better to be in the drivers seat creatively. I agree, no compromises!
Beautiful painting. Oils scare me a bit, but I think I will switch to them after my next acrylic project. Thanks for sharing your talent and knowledge.
I've subscribed only recently and I'm absolutely amazed at your work and insights! You've demonstrated in this wonderful piece of work, what sets apart a good painting and a masterful piece of eye candy. Thank you so much for your inspiration and demonstration of how to push our visions to come alive.
