- We clean up a fire hydrant and get my new AS Motor 901 Flail mower.
If you are interested in any of the equipment I'm using, check out my new page Turf and Tools / @turfandtools where I review equipment that I am sent and use. If you'd like to send something for me to show, send me an e-mail timthelawnmowerman@gmail.com
Hi! My name is Tim The Lawnmower Man and I love to clean up overgrown yards and make fun videos doing it. I'm able to do them for free as these videos have ads on them and the revenue from that enables me to cover my cost.
I'm always looking for the worst yards around. Sometimes I drive around looking for them, sometimes viewers send me suggestions.

It's the fireman's dream to see every hydrant when they need to, good job. And they're not ugly they're a symbol of safety for our homes.😊
He's a fireman.
I'd be glad to see a video of locating and uncovering fire hydrant points, I had a house fire many years ago, lot's of people just don't understand the importance of them. Nice flail mower Tim 😊
Funny, while you were painting the lid I was thinking you should do a video on finding all the fire hydrants in an area!
Yes plaese, I would watch you cleaning up fire hydrants. Seriously, no joke😊
this, maybe with glow in the dark paint too!
Agree, silly but I’d enjoy that video.
That's on his only fans page.
@@navs485🤭🤣🤣🤣
Oooh, Tim’s got a new toy 😂😂😂😂. How schmick is that bad boy. Top shelf German engineering can’t go wrong. Looking forward to seeing you smash the wild growth with it. And I would watch you find the hydrants. You’d be making your full time job much easier, and your work colleagues would appreciate it too. Have a great WTF, Tim. Lots of love from a fellow Aussie 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I am SUPER pleased you made that purchase. No more Kikuyu worries, bumpy terrain nightmares, green waste issues, damp ground rain delays, rotary blade damage issues, better fuel management, turf propagation, bush and hedge management. Your business just took a huge profitable .leap ahead….AND you can now count on reliable assistant that you can train on one of your greatest strengths, that being edging ,pathway, flowerbed, fencing trimming.Yee Haw- you go cowboy!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😊😊😊
Yes! Do the fire hydrants! In Canada they are posts about 2 1/2 feet tall! ❤️🇨🇦
Yes, I'm so surprised they are in the ground and not visible in Australia! Hello from Ottawa!🇨🇦
@@brendalonergan5111 I guess for one thing they are never covered with snow.🤪
😂
They often end up buried under snow! @@dorianmorton67
Watching movie an TV from the states people always seem to running over them or hitting them with vehicles, under ground no problem. Oh not that much snow over here
US fire hydrants are above ground. Red mostly sometimes with yellow tops. I’d watch a whole segment of you uncovering and cleaning up your Fire hydrants
And also sometimes all black with maybe silver paint on the top (at least that's what the one in front of my NYC house has).
Many of ours got painted red and blue several years ago
Almost forgot. Awesome job on the water service thing. As a fireman, you know better than most, every second counts!
I don’t know much but I know hydrants are super satisfying to reveal 😂
Oh man so excited!!! AS 901! Muahahaha. Kikuyu be warned!! TimMower the Flailinator, Flailinating the Overgrown Lawns!
Wow Phil, surely that was a mistake! You can’t be dropping $200 on some lawn mowing RUclipsr! Is that even possible? Can you please email me your phone number so I can see what’s happened here
Wow @philh8829 that's a huge thank you! Good on ya! 👍🦘😀
@@timthelawnmowerman emailed once with a typo 😂, email again with the correction.
Nothing worse when either home owners or councils don’t maintain hydrants. Tim always a FF at heart 👍
Thank you for your service, Tim! As a Fireman, then the free lawn care and finally the videos, you really are an asset to your community and beyond! How many fire hydrants can you clean and paint in a day? I'd watch. And very cool machine! God Bless you and keep you safe! ❤🙏
Nice thick instruction manual, which I'm sure included a helpful little start-up guide... immediately put off to the side and ignored 😂
Haha, I noticed that too! 😃
Probably includes a small manual in 20+ different languages. Most of my gardening power equipment is like that.
Its a man thing.
Step 1 - unpack tool
Step 2 - Discard Manual
Step 3 - Use tool
Step 4 - Break Tool
Step 5 - Search for Manual.
I hope your neighbours appreciate being able to witness you trying out risky new things with your brand new toys in full view as much as we do!
"Like a kid with a new toy" ... Congrats, Tim the Lawnmower Man!😁The look on your face when the truck arrived... Reminded me of when I finally purchased my first riding lawn tractor, John Deere X350! A man's dream becomes reality when... he gets power equipment!
When you find the right tool for the job it’s such a good feeling and then you are wondering why you ever did things any other way
I remember the rental mower, it did a great job. The moment I saw the size of the box I thought, He`s only gone and bought one. May it serve you well.
I am amazed that you are 6’11”. You know that is pretty darn tall young man. Can’t wait to see you use that new mower. Thanks for showing it to us. God bless.
He does not look 6 foot 11 does that convert different to 6 foot 11 in the United States? I'm very confused by that because he does not look that tall at all
Pretty sure he's kidding lol
He's taking the piss. I saw a video a while back where he was making fun of how short he is, standing on the back of the ute to trim a hedge.
😂 he's 6' 11" just like that watch on his wrist is real. Love your humor.
That might be the best unboxing video on all of RUclips. Love your work Tim ❤
Glad you liked it
Very glad you checked the oil before starting. I was sitting watching your video, as you were going through looking to start the mower, I was yelling "oil" lol 😂.
Lucky you got it on the back of the Ute. For a second I thought you were going to regret getting rid of the truck.
Looking forward to seeing it in action. As the hire one smashed down the grass so quick for you.
WOW! That is an awesome mower. Or is it a mower still or a flailer? Whatever it is, it’s big and can do a lot of work. Thanx for doing the unpacking with us. Can’t wait to see the premier.
🤗🤗🤗 ~Becka
I was so jazzed to see the flail mower purchase!! Woot! 🎉 It will be great to see it in action for your FMF content. And I vote for more hydrant port reveals/clean-up. I hadn't seen that version before here in the States. All the neighborhoods I've lived in across different states have the knee-high post hydrants dotting the front yards along with other utility boxes for electric/cable services.
DUDEEEEE!!! Finally got yourself something to really help you out with the crazy overgrown yards!!! I told you to get a Ventrac a long time ago to save so much time and you told me that it was too expensive and too large... and here you are with a walk behind flail mower which is basically the same thing as a Ventrac but smaller and you don't drive it! Yay! I'm sure that was expensive like your Scag but man is it going to change how everything goes from now on. now all you need is a grass collector for the scag to pick up all the grass clippings!
Also I can't believe Australia has fire hydrants in the ground.. how are you supposed to spot those in an emergency??? Check out what they do in America with hydrants to make it soo much easier...and less dangerous because spiders and cockroaches don't typically hang out on the outside lol
Man, I'd LOVE to see a whole video of you uncovering fire hydrants! (And I bet your coworkers would appreciate it, too!)
Its good to see the new lawn mowing machine this will make your job much easier good luck Tim
Here in the US I have a yellow hydrant ( here is US above the ground) in from of my house. I take care to keep it clear of snow during the winter
Up here in Minnesota I have taken the clearing of snow from the hydrant. It is very appreciated 😊
Yippee for the flail mower!! I was hoping you’d invest in one; it’s just the ticket for the really tall/thick/weedy jobs👍👏! I suspect you’ll use it on every job you can; the only hitch might be access as it’s pretty wide. It will make fast and easy work on that ku-whatever it’s called grass with the tough runners, too!! It wouldn’t have to be super over grown to make the flail mower worth using. I’m so tickled for you!! 🎉🎉 I can barely wait to see it in action the 1st time!!❤
North American hydrants are almost always above ground. In our slice of the land, there are blue reflectors in the road, marking their location. Easier to find, even buried in the brush and landscaping
Can’t wait to see you play with your new toy. 😉 I’ve seen the other videos and that machine is awesome.
Having a play in a couple of hours!
5am Aussie time… best thing I need to watch before work
Great new piece of equipment. That should make life easier for you and your other mowers. Good to see it is German designed and manufactured. Should be solid and reliable. Wise purchase. Cheers.
Your fire hydrants are quite the same as ours in the US.
Congrats on the new mower! That is going to save you a lot of time and energy!! 💚
Wow I’ve never seen a fire hydrant under the ground. Ours are above the ground in America. Glad you painted to help those guys.
I’d love to watch that video you spoke of. Great job Tim.
Look at you making your real job easier cleaning up the hydrant covers. thank you for your service Tim, your a legend💖 Michelle
Oh boy, looking forward to the next video!
A little tid-bit of interesting information for you when tracking them (the hydrants) down Tim, the blue cats eyes you see on the road are an indicator for fireman of the hydrant location, a blue cats eye to the left of the center line in the road shows the hydrant will be directly opposite the cats eye to the left on the road, on the right hand side of the center line, the hydrant will be on the right hand side of the road. Fireman shine their lights/torches down a road at night to get a quick locate when tending a call, saves time, and lives.
You wont be able to unsee blue cats eyes once you see them now and think to yourself "there's a hydrant there" LoL
This flail mower will make your work so much easier and better use of time. Good purchase!
Great vlog mate. Here stuff like that is neglected badly. That said all hydrants and road drains are too. It's refreshing to see someone that actually cares about doing it right. That said, the new machine is freeking awesome.
I’ll have to find out when it’s first service is
@@timthelawnmowerman is that the new machine or the Mazda 😂😂
New machine
Wow Tim! Early - or late - Christmas present. Looks great!
Lovely new toy. I look forward to seeing that puppy in action.
Great days ahead with the new machine. You may find small acreage is now within your scope.
It’s a little slow for acreage but will be great for larger wild back yards. (I hope) 😂
Yep, that is a BEAST!!! Can't wait to see it demolish its 1st lawn and get dirty...
Mad step up for the business mate!
In Perth, we have one. There is a large "H" printed on your curb and a clear white panel in your verge. I'm quite proud of it and always keep both immaculately clear.
Would welcome a fire hydrant tidy up video. Our area certainly needs its. I know we have one outside our house but council buried last time they played with the footpath
Our Fire Hydrants are above ground and yellow. They require a red curb in some places to keep idiots from blocking them with cars. If you block one and there is a fire the Firemen have no problem clearing your car windows with a fire axe for better access. As they should. Can't wait to see the new TOY in action.
Lived next to a fire station for a week when I was a kid. They fed me 3 meals a day. Great human beings as a rule. Best cooks in the world. To give credit where due this was in Arkansas. Seems like everybody I met in that town were great people. That was in 1971 I think. Life was so much simpler back then.
Good on you Tim 👍💯 regarding the fire hydrants, and making them visible for👉 🚒 What a lovely mowing machine but I don't think I'll get use to seeing you behind it 😂 but I wish you many a happy days of using it 👍
I was looking at that pallet 🤔 you could make a nice planter out of that or wall bracket for wall🌺 baskets 🤔
Have a lovely day Tim ❤
Congrats on your new baby! I had no doubt one would be delivered to you😄
"6 foot 11".. :-)
😂😂😂
I could not tell if he was joking or not he does not look 6 foot 11 :-)
Joke. Watch when he stands next to someone who is probably tall.@@WildChickenR2
Anyone else reckon that crate was tipped on its side by the amount of smoke it produced on start up?
Epic machine Tim go get some
Exciting new tool to your arsenal 🎉❤ The fire hydrant portion was interesting. Ours here in US are above ground. Aesthetically I like the idea of being under ground but can see how if not maintained it can get hidden by overgrowth and hender first responders time 🚒 How often do you hit you head entering doors?!😂
Thanks Tracey
Did enjoy learning about your fire hydrants and certainly their being findable is important. Humor in that you got a machine in German language on the controls. Nice you got a flail of your own, after all the search to find something that will work on long runners. Good it fit right up your ramps.
Revealing the hydrants would be great maybe with a bit of commentary on your day job mate 👍
Love your new toy Tim, I cant wait to see you use it in a really overgrown yard.
Fabulous new machine! Anxious to see you using it for the first time!❤
Can't wait to see you break in the new mower!
That wire trimmer would have been great for the driveway in your last Free Mow Friday video.
Anyway can't wait to see your new machine in action!
In the states preventive maintenance is a type of four letter word.
Well done!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I use a flail very much like that one,its a Turner Metro mower unfortunately it has a honda engine on it ,I have an electric start 10.5 hp Briggs and Stratton which should fit for this season
Whoohoo a vlog before I go to work. . And I thought that those fire hydrants were survey points .things u learn
I’ve really been enjoying these vlogs, mate. Pretty cool. Keep it up 👍
Very nice new toy there, Tim! It's German, so careful it doesn't try annexing the neighbour's yard or anything while you're working.
As for the buried hydrants, I'd chuck a "bug bomb" down the hatch once in a while. But I wonder how much water they can get from that hydrant, since supply lines to homes aren't usually very high capacity. Do they have above ground hydrants anywhere in 'Straya?
what a machine! can't wait to see it in action
Love a create but I live far away from you in the new England area of NSW Australia and yes would love to see you cleaning up the fire hydrants I need some of your bags I need a lot ....wow just all happening at once....busy busy....great vlog...just enough to keep you wanting to know what's next...thanks
Can I make a suggestion, awesome job on painting the lid, but put a H on the road also with a arrow on the H, you’ll see them on the roads 👍👍👍👍
You are such a gearhead! 😂. However you are one person who can justify the cost of that awesome machine! It’s interesting that the water meters are above ground but fire hydrants are hidden down there. Complete opposite from here in US. I’m sure part of it is temperature. I would think losing time if you can’t find the fire hydrant would be a problem unless everyone is as good at upkeep as you.
OMG my Rack IT shelves turn up today. 😮 thank you very much
For some reason a song called "New Toy" by Lene Lovich went through my head when I saw your new machine.
I love you all this fire hydrant and I like your new toy have fun with it God bless you 🙏❤️
cool! catching up on some of your vlogs...
Omg..do more of these!
I was thinking the same thing about you needing one of those machines, it should help you a lot. it sure helped on that other job.
Here in the west the Firies sometimes drive around give them a flush and paint the lids white
I just knew you get one, you had so much fun using the hire one 😂
Congrats on the new toy. Like a kid on Xmas morning
In Victoria the kerb is marked to indicate where the hydrant is also. 👍🏻
Boys & their toys, looks like Santa came early
It would be really cool to see you find fire hydrants! 😊
Here in NZ we also have the fire hydrants but they actually have nothing to do with the fire service its a free hit to one of your mates if your standing on it😂😂
Nice new toy!❤
Love you vlogs. Congrats on your new toy (brush cutter). ❤
5:00 cubby for the kids
Awesome 🤩 congratulations 👍
You threw the directions to the side the famous quote is when all else fails follow directions great show new toys
Where is the fun in that 😂
That's a big machine
Can’t wait!
Are all fire hydrants like that in N.S.W? I live in Victoria and we have the upright posts painted red and white. Those flat ones need to be painted with a fluoro paint to make them more visible at night.
Awesome machine…..mike from Florida….
Nice new machine :) If you want some free advice, visit an ATV shop for comfort. I would buy something else to replace these two long vertical triggers
Can't wait to see you working this beast !
Doesn't the recycling centre take old pallets like that?
Cheers from Penrith again.
I was about to say that too - after the flash tour we got I distinctly remember a pile of pallets... But I suspect he got distracted by the big machine it was heading for 😜😂
Fire station !😮 I thought this mowing thing was your full time gig ! Man how do you find the time to fit all this in. Dude you’re superman 😅
You would think that each Council would make sure they were all visible or let owner know of this. Great job.
I am so shocked you got one of those. Not!
Also, it's not only blokes that toss the instruction manual. 🙄 My Dad went crook at me when I bought some new garden machines and got stuck into playing with them and ignored the book.
I'd watch a whole video of uncovering fire hydrants, too!
Enjoyed that!
Wow. You would make amazing Basketball 🏀 player. Your tall. Thank you for doing a beautiful job on these lawns.
Wait, did you juat say you're 6 foot 11? Or did you mean 5 foot 11?
NICE!!!! How did you keep that a secret??? I bet it was tough man! 🤣🤣🤣
Cut it up and recycle. If all else fails read the instructions
