      I use an iMac 2011 21.5 on Big Sur, (used to be Ventura) and I can definitely recommend OCLP. One thing to keep in mind though, with MacOS versions newer than Big Sur, the Maps app will not work on 2011 or previous Macs. I have also noticed some other little bugs with the UI, like when minimizing Windows, the borders might flash red, and GPU acceleration as a whole is generally not great. That was only on my 2011 iMac, as it's GPU lacks Metal support, (same goes for your 2011 MacBook Pro as the GPUs in it is basically the same as what's in 21.5 2011 iMacs). Your 2013 MacBook Pro should be perfectly fine though. Oh, one last thing, make sure they both have SSDs. Newer versions of MacOS on HDDs are, well, not pleasant to say the least XD Good luck and have a Happy New Year!

    Jessie, I need KDK help. I'm trying to do a clean install (not update) of Sequoia 15.2 on a MacPro 5,1. I did the USB install method, but the root patches don't automatically come with it. At least not the all-important Legacy USB 1.1. OCLP doesn't look for KDK files when I click Post Install Root Patches. It also doesn't ask for a password to install as Root like in your video. It just proceeds with the patch, including all the Metallib stuff. OCLP says that it is patching the Legacy USB 1.1, but it doesn't actually happen. I've gone over all the text that scrolls by during the root patching, and there is no mention of KDK. Nothing like your screen that shows it's checking for KDK files, or skipping because it found a local copy. And the folder /Library/Developer is empty. So I try downloading and installing the KDK package manually and run the Root Patch again, but the result is the same. It's like OCLP just ignores the installed KDK. I've been at this for a week. I've rebooted a billion times, including SMC and NVRAM resets. Please help.

      @@JessiesFlying Progress! I uninstalled OCLP 2.2.0, and installed 1.5.0. I downloaded and created a usb installer for Sonoma. I did a clean install of Sonoma on my HD. Legacy USB works, and I see all the USB 1 devices working, including the Bluetooth Controller. I'm not sure why, but Open Core, built and installed with OCLP 2 and above were not working at all. 1.5.0 somehow has the magic sauce to restore USB 1.1 on my particular machine.
      Now that it's working, I'll next test updating OCLP to the latest version, and then updating to Sequoia. Is there a way for me to save a version of this working EFI so that I can paste it, or parts of it, onto the EFI of the Sequoia HD in the event that OCLP 2.2.0 breaks the USB 1.1?

Install OpenCore updates, let it reboot. Dont install system updates, wait a while. This should be the case if you have a "supported" or "unsupported" machine. The bootloader also injects some drivers without changes to the OS because just in memory, the bootloader isn't just there to fool the Mac
    Also for high sierra patcher you probably still want to use OpenCore bootloader as accel on all unsupported and patchable models is native on High Sierra (yes Apple dropped completely compatible models with Sierra).
    For Mojave, know that Dosdude's patcher has an issue rendering some apps like Chrome and Discord on NVIDIA 9000 and 300 series GPUs. I haven't tested the GT 120, but I can confirm the 8600M GT does not exhibit this issue.
    For Catalina... a lot of 3rd party apps will crash on launch with no fix aside from running a few terminal commands and rebuilding the signature, but browsers like Chrome constantly update so the issue will always come back. For this reason I recommend OCLP 0.4.3 TUI as you can run Catalina on non Metal with far fewer bugs, in fact all I have noticed is the monitors preferences not letting you in.

    My system works for Max a couple of hours only and then all apps start to crash, finder starts to crash and all my apps just quit, nothing works.I have to force my Mac to restart holding the power button for some time.
    Already did nvram reset but nothing changed.
    In the worst case: could I go back to Ventura via my Time Machine backup or will that not work?
    Or just download Ventura from the Appstore and make a bootable drive I don't know or make a new bootable usb installer with open core patcher but now for Ventura and install it without reformatting my ssd.That should work or? I don't want a clean install.
    What is your advice?
    Vielen Dank im Voraus,
    Haluk.

      Hi and a happy new year to you as well! Unfortunately one cannot downgrade macOS - only via clean install. but your problem sounds like a heat problem - check all fans and renew thermal paste....

      @@JessiesFlying I did everything.Cleaned the Mac Pro inside out, thermal paste everything but still same problem.
      Nothing changed in my configuration only I went from Ventura to Sonoma and all the problems started.
      My Mac Pro never runs hot, is always cool.Maybe more people having the same problems after going to Sonoma?

    Air 2015 NO Developer FOLDER. Please dont anyone suggest look in /Library instead of ~/Library, i know how to find all the Library/Developer folders. However this means I have to fallback on the USB stick method as otherwise I cant install (or even get) the post-install patches (which include wifi - macbook air has no inbuilt RJ45 for ethernet, only wifi). So I use Create Macos Installer to fetch the installer 23C71 and then exit to main oclp menu. Then I later select Use Existing Installer and it finds 23C64 but nothing else. So is it 23C71 with the wrong metadata or is the link (and Metadata) shown in oclp wrong? finally - how can I make the pre-update-download-of-KDK (or post-install-patches not requiring KDK) work properly ?

    • @JessiesFlying
      @JessiesFlying  Год назад

      I think your MacBook doesn’t need KDK - it’s only needed for AMD graphic cards and older Intel CPUs… if there is no developer folder and you start root patch with internet and there is no download started then it’s not needed

      @@JessiesFlying thanks J. That solves one issue but not the other. Install by USB stick stuck required safe start but then the install worked and all is fine. The problem is the wifi drivers - now if installing those drivers for post-install somehow works by USB stick (im not sure how - that operates) could OCLP not download them in advance as it does the kdk for machines needing it, so that they can be installed without working wifi? It seems to me daft that kdk can be dealt with this way (when needed) but not critical post-install patches - but they can, somehow, with usb-install.

      @@josephfredbill so it works now?

    • @josephfredbill
      @josephfredbill Год назад +1

      @@JessiesFlying yes, with USB method, by magic. I realise your priority, understandably, is to help get machines working where not working - please ignore me if its a nuisance. What I’m trying to understand: 1. How patching operates with USB install, 2. If pre-downloading can work where kdk needed why not where other critical patching needed to run because drivers removed (eg wifi on Air) - seems like a crazy oclp design decision. Since wifi drivers removed in 14.2.1 on probably most machines (eg MBP 2012 also) then it will affect many using non-usb method.

      @@josephfredbill if it works now the drivers were already there in OCLP. Sometimes reboots or NVRAM resets are necessary to activate WiFi or Bluetooth…

      Can also confirm the 2010 iMac works fine, as long as you have an SSD installed. 7200RPM hd is well sort of ok, but not good enough. If you have a 7200RPM HD stick to 11.7.10
