    • @mikeries8549
      @mikeries8549 4 года назад +1

      @Walker Ott the benelli click is caused by two things. One, slamming it around when you set it down in the blind and TWO... your buddies effing with you. Yeah. You can sneak and setup your pal's gun to not shoot. It's an awful prank but ppl do it. I had a guy show me the binelli click and how to make it happen. I shoot a beretta so it didn't amuse me.

    Balance is more important than weight with a shotgun. Within a parameter. My TriStar Viper 30" with synthetic stock was muzzle heavy so I added some weight in the buttstock. Added weight to the gun but balanced it correctly. Shoots much better.

    Had a Franchi. Used it two seasons and it turned into a single shot and then would not work at all. Super upset because it worked great the first season. The second, it began to jam here and there. More and more often until the action would just stick and it would not work. Always kept it clean.

      Go buy yourself a mid 60's era Ithaca 12ga featherlight. Guaranteed to satisfy your craving for that extra kick. A field load will be more than ample but I recommend getting a 2¾" magnum turkey load for the extra satisfaction. I've been shooting guns and an avid hunter for 63 years and it's the hardest kick I've ever experienced from any gun/ammo combination that I've ever fired. I actually gave the gun away to another family member because I was never going to shoot it again, and I inherited the gun so it's not like I was out anything. I have to say I really did like the design/features/functions of the gun.

    Getting used to 1 gun is solid advice! There is a saying that goes something like, "fear the man with only one gun". I loved my Benelli SBE 2 so much that I couldn't help myself and bought the SBE 3 about 6 months after it came out. The SBE 3 is a little more refined but they are both great. And like you said, if my SBE 3 fell to the bottom of the lake, I wouldn't heditate to buy another one the next day. I like the channel man. Keep up the good work!

    I have a Franchi Affinity 3 and the vent rib is something I can't get use to. I'm so use to looking straight down the receiver to the bead but with the Franchi the beginning of the vent rib covers up the bead completely. The grip is also to long for me and I have to choke up on grip to the point where it isn't comfortable to shoot. You also have to be careful what hulls you use if you load your own because the Fiocchi 3in 20ga hulls are to long to eject properly.

    I am buying a 3.5 12 gauge Retay with a 26 inch barrel with Inertia-Plus. No Benelli drop out battery "click" and still just under 7 ponds light. The 28 and 30 inch weigh at 7 pounds and 7 pounds 2 ounces. Also the drop out trigger and serviceable replaceable extractor is a plus. Franchi is good but I do not like that they will not offer a 26 inch barrel 3.5 Elite 12 gauge. With the Franchi front support system have you experienced any Benelli CLICK?

    Law of diminishing returns, you're trading weight (which isnt a big deal) for recoil. I shot the Retay with 3 and 3.5in black clouds and it felt like I got kicked in the face. Plus it really isn't enough cheaper than a SBE for me to ever switch

  • @automandan
    @automandan 4 года назад +1

    I've been looking at some semi automatic shotguns. The guns I've been looking at are these guns. The Franchi affinity the Retay Masai mara.the Winchester sx4. Along with the Beretta A300 as well as a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3. I decided to give semi automatic shotguns a try again after I got rid of my Stoeger m3000 due to quality issues with the camo paint. And the face that the Steoger m3000 weighs like 20 lbs especially if you been walking around all day with it. While as the Franchi is so much better it's lighter easier to handle along easier to shoot it. Along with the Retay and the Sx4. The Benelli and the Beretta on the other hand had some things that turned me off the Beretta A300 and A400 you can't pull back the bolt and hold it open which is annoying as hell plus the bolt release button is too small. Same with the Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 with that one it's the other way around it's very bottom heavy. Plus the button for the bolt release is tiny which is ok if your not wearing winter gloves. If your wearing winter gloves along with all your hunting boots and equipment it's going to suck trying to hit that bolt release button. The Retay the Franchi and the Winchester have solved that problem with a bigger bolt release button. So if Franchi Retay and Winchester figured it out then what is Benelli,Beretta,and Steogers problem?

    Comfort is equal to shotgun fit. Look at the brands of known quality, find what feels good, and research how to fit a shotgun. I shoot my old 870 wingmaster well, the CZ 1012, CZ all terrain ultralight ,and the retay gordion. For the expensive stuff I shoot the beretta silver pigeon well and have had success with the SBE3. I’m lucky enough to have 3 brothers and my old man to hunt with so I can try there stuff out, but my favorites are the old 870, CZ ultralight, and the retay gordion

    Can probably just replace the factory tube with a longer one. Even if ya had to it shouldn't be hard to make.. I think its the Beretta A400 that's set up like that too. Might be able to interchange parts idk. That's why i stick with KNOW gun companies. I've gotta couple H&R excell autos i picked up new for dirt cheap a few years back. I didn't know H&R had folded up at the time, both ended up shooting like complete garbage an i couldn't find parts for em to save my life. Basically just corner decorations now until i come up with a way to Frankenstein somthin up for em. My stoegers ain't let me down tho so really no need to mess with anything else.

    I would love to see a comparison video of a gas gun over an inertia gun, and do u or ur friends think one runs better in the cold over the other. I prefer gas systems so far but have been considering and inertia gun. My Beretta a400 has been awesome but doesn't always like 3.5 inch shells which I don't shoot much. My 3 inch Browning silver hasn't always been the best to me and it hated cold weather when I used to live in Colorado now I'm in ca. I have been looking at the affinity like u have or going with a gas system again like Maxus or versa max.

    • @2ezoutdoors348

      Depends on how ur gonna be hunting/conditions. I've found that gas systems don't work for me. Clogged gas port or broken ring your pullin your gun apart or rockin a single shot. Ain't really anything that could go wrong with inertia guns. 99.9999% of the time they go bang.

    I have several 12 gauge shot guns that include an older 870 wing master, a benelli super nova, a beretta a300 extrema, Winchester model 12 , a JC Higgins, and a 870 Express. By far my favorite is the wing master 870 followed by the JC then the extrema. However I hunt with the extrema. The Express is garbage and only use it for Turkey. The super nova is ok but tends to jam every once and a while. I would still be shooting the wing master if I would spend the 5 dollars on the part that is needed to hold shells in the magazine. I bought that gun at age 15 I am now 43. I bet nothing Remington makes now will last that long.

    Bought the 20gauge Masai Mara to turkey hunt with and it does a pretty good job at that, but for wing shooting dove and crow, I've found it to be unreliable. I like a shotgun that will eat all types of ammo on the fly and one that you don't have to be concerned with shouldering too tightly so the inertia-driven deal can work every time. Jamming is something I just cannot tolerate. I'd rather hunt with my old reliable Remington 1100 semi-auto that was built about 60 years ago. To each their own. I am the one who pulled the trigger and bought the gun. It's a back burner gun for me that sits more than anything.

    I’ve been a Franchi owner for the last 12 years. Have both the I-12 and the Affinity, great guns. After 5 years though, my Affinity looks like a 15 year old shotgun. I’m having issues with the safety sticking and the matte black finish is completely gone. I recently broke down and bought the SBE 3 Performance Waterfowl, paid twice as much for it as the standard SBE 3. It’s either going be the last shotgun I ever buy or an expensive boat anchor. When the gun comes in I’ll do a review on my channel over at FALhunter.

      @@oneuglyfisherman7186 So just got back from the range. Using a carlsons longbeard XR choke 3.5in #5 shot, both the 2 and 2 1/8 oz loads. Very even 20-30. Started seeing a slight high right at 30. Moved to 40, pattern opened more tha I was expecting and 50 it wasnt great. Maybe 4 inches high, 4 right for the bulk of pattern. Tried the Fed TSS heavyweight #7 shot and definitely more pellets on target and more even but still right about 2-4 inches. I was aiming dead center snd not floating target like I guess you should on a benelli. Need to do more testing though on bigger paper, was using 14x14

    Purchased the masai mara in 12 gauge last week. Always been a Beretta guy so I'm curious what this Benelli spinoff is going to be like. The price point is good in the $1100-1200 range. It shoulders well and that's really the most important thing to me. I can take a small thumping to my shoulder and save $7-800. That kickoff technology I had in my Extrema 2 and that are in the Super Black Eagles just aren't worth it IMO..

    Benelli SBE 3.5 or an M2. Yeah, a bit more expensive but worth every penny. The Affinity is a nice gun, so is the Stoeger M3500 and the Stoeger is $200 cheaper than the Affinity, if not $300 cheaper. SX3, all day long. SX4 is a downgrade for one reason, it kicks like a mule with field ammo. And I agree with you 100%, find a gun you like and can hit with it and shoot it all day long. Heck, for years I would surf the pawn shops for old 1100s. I’d buy them cheap and fix em up. I do get tired of cleaning gas guns though. But if you clean them regularly, it’s not that bad. Thanks for the video!
