I got one in 20ga for my dad, and he really likes it. I have the masia mara in 20ga, and my wife loved shooting it so much. She says it's now. I ended up getting a 20ga franchi affinity 3 for waterfowl since the mm20 was wood, and I didn't really want to take it into the swamps. I would recommend replacing the recoil pad with the mm pad from the retay shop or get an aftermarket one. It will help reduce recoil a bit more. Another feature on the gordion and mm synthetic version is the unload feature pushing in on your shell and pulling up on your bolt release. Comes in handy when you hear geese while shooting ducks. I use that feature to quickly switch out my 4s for 2s. With some practice you can get pretty fast at doing it. I will also recommend cleaning the firing pin/spring inside the bolt every 1,000 rounds, or you might get light primer strikes, especially on waterfowl load. I had that happened last season after not cleaning the firing pin/spring in the bolt and had multiple light strikes. Other than that, it's a solid gun. After shooting my dad's gordion, I kind of wish i got one too.

Bought a new Gordion 12 gauge. Had to return because the rib on the barrel was not uniform. Right side looked like it was supposed to be tapered going down and the left was suppose to be straight.
The firearm store gunsmith's verified the issue. Ended up with store credit and purchasing a Browning! Browning much better quality. I'll stick to my 3 B's when purchasing shotguns.

I have had one for about 1 1/2 years and my walnut version is my go-to gun for 90% of my shooting. It has been shot over 2K times and has only failed to feed once. Will fire any ammo I have fed it including the cheap promo loads from Walmart. In fact, that is what it gets fed most of the time. I am embarrassed to say this but it is also a very forgiving gun design and requires almost no cleaning.
Mine has been thoroughly cleaned only once when I first got it and will get another cleaning before heading to AZ after Mearns quail. It just does not fail and I think it is an outstanding gun for most upland shooting. I too have really tried to get the bolt to stay out of battery by closing it super slowly. It can't be done! The little torsions spring in the bolt head won't allow it. Such a simple and yet effective design modification to prevent the dreaded Benelli click.
Mine weighs exactly 6 lbs 1 oz.

I'm surprised it worked with 2.5 dram ammo. Retay says 2.75 dram minimum on their website.

I have owned a few Gordions and they worked great but i sold them because i dont care for a flat rib

I'm not thrilled with my Weatherby either.. Function is fine, but just not as instinctive as I'd like (in other words I can't hit crap with it.. do fine with my other shotguns).. Thinking about the Masai mara tho.

I had some issues with that right away but after picking the right chokes and shimming it to fit me shooting it was fine but after hard use the functionality started to lessen and I had more misfires and ejection issues

I gotta disagree about the extended chokes - I really can’t stand them. I’ve never had any issues with flush chokes.

What makes you say you can't stand extended chokes? Even with taking food care or flush fitting chokes i have had issues getting the out and they take longer to switch out as well as require you to have the tool on hand to do so.

Have you had a problem with it not wanting to load after the 3rd shell? I just got this shotgun and over the weekend it was shooting great and at the end of the day it did not want to load the 4th shell after shooting the 3rd shell.
