I would like to add "Two feet of topsoil" by Brad Paisley to the request list. It was never a single so you probably wont get many requests for it but knowing how you guys like Brad and his guitar skills its a great one.
one of the tracks off their new album "Completely, Sweetly" is quite a headbanger for a bluegrass-ish band - as a prev comment mentioned, Colton the banjo player loves using metal riffs
Great choice, Barbara! Another metal/bluegrass group to check out would be The Native Howl. They have a song called Harvester of Constant Sorrow. Which is exactly what it sounds like. Metallica meets Soggy Bottom Boys.
You guys talking about having musical culture shock Put me in mind to the time I was helping my buddy do yard work and we had my phone playing my general playlist It went from Eminem to Loretta Lynn to Black Sabbath back to beach boys and my buddy looked at me and he said your phone is giving me musical Whiplash
The song is about a wild life that leaves the man with a pockets full of gold and a trail of destruction, sorrow and regret. He has a son, that he drags into his lifestyle. The son dies due to the lifestyle. When he says " I should have put that old gun away " he is referring to leaving the lifestyle . The start of the song says he is in a quiet spot with nothing to bother him but... The end of the song lets us know that , the only thing to bother him is is a lonesome tree. And the decision of whether he should delete himself.

I like The Dead South, but I agree, I need to be in the right mood to listen to them. And Keith, his annunciation drives me nuts too! Not sure, but Have y'all ever heard of the group "Poor Man's Poison"? I hear a number of similarities between the groups. Both put their own spin on bluegrass and folk. But the lead singer from Poor Man's Poison is way better in my opinion. My favorite song from them is "Hell's Comin' With Me" Poor Man's Poison brings a little more of an acoustic rock meets bluegrass feel. Which makes sense because the members all have backgrounds in progressive rock.
They are a Canadian band, it's actually Wadena's pride (not adena's tribe). CPR is Canadian Pacific Railway. If you want something speedier, check out their cover of Chop Suey. The banjo player is a metalhead at heart, so you might find some video out there of him shredding. Also Nate is naturally raspy with his voice, but not all his songs are raspy. I think he cranks it up for some of the songs, depending on the subject. Also, bluegrass is all about the hard life, so yes, the topics are often dark.
My choice of bourbon is limited because it co,es from, the state store. Also I don't drink bourbon. I already had these bottles. I'll respect your changeover to request. My 1st one would be Waylon Jennings. AMANDA.most of their songs are dark. They are Canadian so maybe not US political.
Were the mounds burial sites? and following wouldn't that be desecration? That would piss folks off building a city on it. I liked the music and tempo....
Before researching whether or not it "was meant" to be political, ask yourself when does a father 'get the call' that DOESN'T connect to some political issue. "I should have put that gun away" could be taken specifically - like a 2 second PSA, could also be metaphoric for hanging up the pistols, retiring from the wild life. Singer is closer to born in 1977 than 1955 -- most cowboys born in '55 ...
@@BourbonCountryReacts Chai is a must! I really enjoyed the Indian desserts more anything else. Paan is interesting. Also not sure if they have them in restaurants here, but it’s traditional to have mouth fresheners at the end of the meal like candy-coated cardamom. Way better than a Tic Tac lol.
Thank You!!! Really annoying mush mouth! Otherwise it's enjoyable ; probably not enough for me to look up anything else that they have done but certainly not the worst thing I've ever heard.😉 Thank goodness we don't all have to like/love all music; but listening to so many different songs broadens my musical playlist. Thanks for another great review.

In 1955, born into Wadena's pride
Wadena is a town near Regina, Saskatchewan where these guys are from.
@gammarat41 There's a Wadena city and county in Minnesota, too. Which makes me wonder, just who is this Wadena?
Excellent group--they have style, wit, chops and strong vocals.

Excellent Choice!
Wadena. CPR man means Canadian Pacific Railway.

Wadena is a town in Saskatchewan, Canada that the Canadian Pacific Railway runs through. Milligan Creek is a little river located South of Wadena.

Have you ever read North American Sun Kings, by Joseph B. Mahan? Not a big book, even has pictures.
