I'm sorry, but I'll be brutally honest as well...did you really never realize that there are cupholders under the side vents? They are actually a really nice design as they accommodate small and large cups (they ratchet to secure smaller cups). That and zero to 60mph in right around 5 seconds, I'm not sure how you don't believe that is quick, but to each his own. I wouldn't trade my Z4 for anything quite honestly...the perfect balance of performance and comfort, but again, to each his own...interesting review, but I would beg to differ on quite a number of your observations (including breaking the rear end free...turn off traction control and you can drift to your heart's content)...different strokes for different folks, I guess...

My best buddy had one of these, this grey colour to, it was a keeper for him until he got a sick deal on a Porche Boxter, he couldnt keep them both so he sold me the Z4 and Ive been Fat Happy with it for the year Ive now owned it, it is a beauty:)
I'm old enough to remember how the car's styling was received back when they were new, and it was not good. People did NOT like it at all. They made fun of the duck bill spoiler, the overly angular lines, etc. Now though? Different story. Seems to be the case with polarizing styling of cars when they're new. They eventually become "cool" later.
The facelift SI seats are much better than the earlier cars. Plus an extra 34hp and 1k rpm make revving it out even better. I love these Z4s, really good cars
@r.maj.7065 n52 is pretty solid. Only downside is the water pump is electric and not mechanical so it is a lot more expensive. Other than that, they are both great engines 👍

Not just the 3.0. Even the 2.5. I have a Alfa Romeo GTV 1.8ts. Restoring it but i use it as a everyday car so similiar caliber of the Z4. Well the GTV spider is closer but eh. All of these exotic cara made in lower numbers. Plus they are really fun and cool cars. Im thinking of buying a Z4 too as to have a different rwd roadster and a good alfa Coupe.
New cruise control stalk direct from BMW is £108, the connectors are there on a pre-late2004 cars I think, it's a 10 minute job, 1 screw, chop the pre-etched line out of the lower cowl with a dremel, job done 👍
Must admit I'm glad you're selling, good driving car, not a drift car. Buy a Nissan sr20 or rb20 to do it right or even a striped out 3 series with power. Lovin' your car reviews these days, there really good
So I just bought my Z4 3.0i in exactly same colour / interior and I can honestly say it feels like a classic. I have always had beemers (saloons/coupes) but this old girl (2004) has blown me away........it's just almost perfect......now oil change/full service, going over....gonna be my weekend car but I just love it esp. owning a petrol after 20 years now of owning diesel.......I can't explain how good THAT feels too. Now gotta get rid of my C250 merc before I become an Uber driver

i mean for all the "negatives" of the car, you have to remember it is 20 years old, so for this to be as fast and as sporty as it was back then i think is a huge achievement. just my personal opinion of course.
Nice honest review! Similar to my first reactions of driving it. They definitely grow on you the more you drive them. Defo not super fast but fast enough to have fun on the B roads. Always puts a smile on my face! I happen to have one similar but hasn't been crashed. And its for sale! Any offers?
Lee, get yourself a carly, you can turn off the sensor for seatbelt most of the time, loads of stuff you can change on most bmws and lots of other cars too tbh. good for reading codes and we all know how you like broken cars :P

What's that extended leather package called? I looked all over the internet and couldn't find it. I have the same pattern and leather door cards in my Z but mine is red instead of black.
Since you have or had both, how would you compare the two? Is one a better daily driver than the other? Which do you prefer for mou tain driving on windy roads, or which would you prefer for autocross?
@@UNCL3AN1 My Z4 coupe 6mt is a far better daily, since it's much safer, quieter, and with more torque. Both are great fun on mountain roads, but the s2000 is about 20% more raw, if you like that (I do). I am turning my s2000 into a street/track hybrid, while keeping the Z4 as street only. I would never get rid of either car, as they are both very special.

Shorter people like to keep their hand laying where you suggested the window switches to be. They wouldn't like feeling that on their elbow. That's something I've noticed about my passengers that they like to put their hand in that area. I imagine that's what bmw thought too. I as a tall man like to rest my hand over the window when it's rolled down
biggest problem with these cars is the steering locking up on hot days useless for a convertible in the summer,im changing my column for one from a latter model,

Can definitely understand why they didn't bother with cruise control on the EVO, it wasn't really designed for big motorway miles, more of a point to point B road blast.
@@johanslecht2636 And an LS1 still can stomp a z4m. A base Corvette C5 will be almost a "close" call having the C5 ahead probably driving at 7/10 while a Z4 to match will be needed to drive at 8or9/10. Let's not bring Z06 C5, hp difference is too much at that point
Hi Lee, I have the 2007 E85. I watched your clip not sure if you realise this hold down the DTC button for 3 wait for the triangle in a arrow circle then floor it and watch the rear end go.
I had a silver 225, interior was nice yes, car was shite tho lol, had my 3.0 z4 manual coming on 5 years now, all this modern flappy paddle 4 pot shite just don't interest me.
@@coaldust01 you must of bought a bad one my mapped 225 is awesome had it 5 years also. Bmw interiors have never done it for me there's no character to them and they all look basically the same. Aside from the z4 they all look the same outside aswel. If you want a proper drivers car buy Japanese because bmws are just boring.
@@theCinator mine was fine, it was remapped as well, try a 3.0 6 speed z4 and you'll change your mind. In terms of driving pleasure there's no comparison, trust me, I don't do boring cars, drop the hood on a nice evening and stir the cogs through that straight 6, I can't deal with 4 pot lumps.
Bought 3.0i with supercharger 15k less than they are asking for Z4 M. It makes 310hp and 360Nm, 0-100 is on par with M model but driving in town is much more fun with torque down low.
@@Sensei_Gaz Yes, stock everything. Only thing you want to buy is LSD. Open diff and +300hp is not a good combo. Depends how you drive ofc if you need one or not.

(They all are after certain miles) Really enjoyed the video 😊

I dont know the suspension is really great in a BMW Z4 the weight is balanced damm near 50/50 ?? I think the styling actually looks better today. I always figured an engineer or architect would drive these.

I remember seeing one of these at a track day. They respond really well to a basic tune, exhaust air box etc. Unlocks the fun abit more

Should I buy this 2004 z4 manual for 5500? Has excellent service records and a satin brown wrap around car. It’s pretty clean.

Rear end comes out just fine with DTC off. Just press the button for 2 seconds.

It is! I picked up a Coupe and the additional power over the older 3.0i is very noticeable. It is just as quick as my stock 335i.

Idk but the M54 is bullet proof and It s a pure roadster sports car mate!! lol its Hp isnt overkill crazy but its pretty damm good comparison to what else is on the road I mean what ya have. Honda S 2000 is a great little roadster ya have Mazda Miata MX-5 or whatever the little Toyota MR2 there's the Porsche boxer which I think is the only thing that's really compatible with it. They both have their goods and bads I don't particularly dont wanna motor in the rear that I have to get underneath the car to to work on . Theres the Nissan 350Z lol idk theres a few. But honestly the only one that's in the same league would be the Boxer. I think. Its obvious this joker is jus out to sale cars but really isnt to knowledgeable But that's ok.
