Your views on tasting wine as a consumer have really influenced how me and my friends taste wine at our wine club. We often try the wine with food and by itself, and we try to save some to also taste the next day. It is amazing to see how wines evolve, something which most people miss if they consume or taste the wine over a short period of time.
Henri: thank you for your continued support. In this age of instant gratification, I think it is important, particularly with Trophy Wines, to let the wine speak to you and evolve on its time frame, not yours. Cheers!
Hi Trophy Wine Hunter. A recent video of yours on Trophy Food Experiences on the Lamajoun Bakery & Cafe has comments disabled for some reason so I wanted to let you know here. Great video! I have visited Lamajoun Bakery & Cafe and think they're a great place so I was glad to see you enjoyed as well.
Reviews like yours are the closest I’ll ever get to tasting a Romanee Conti. I’m not worthy of such an expensive wine. But I’ve been to Burgundy and drank many stellar Pinots, several of which I bought and brought back home. Some of the $50 & $60 Premier Cru Pinots knocked my socks off. Would I be that more impressed if I spent another $1000 to $1500 for a bottle? I’ll gladly drink it if someone else is bu🤣
D Felice: thank you for your comments. I think "knock your socks off" is a relative term. So if you are happy with $50/60 Premier Cru, I don't think you would think on a one off it would be a noticeable difference... not enough to justify the price difference. But there is a difference and only by drinking more and more of the Trophy Wines will you discover the difference. That is my beef with people who drink one off Trophy Wines. So on a one off basis,, no, there is not that big a difference. But if you continually drink (and can afford) $500 Burgundies, you definitely can tell the difference if you then taste $50 Burgundies. Can you live with the difference? Well if that is the difference between feeding your family, then yes. But if you have the means, you will definitely shy away from the $50 wines more and more. That is why drinking higher end wines is a bit of a curse. If you don't know any better, you are happy but once you are exposed to a higher level of wine on a consistent basis, there is no going back. Cheers!
Basically what you’re saying is that the company that makes that wine bottle has monopolized that area so they don’t have any competition. That’s why they can charge a very expensive price because they’re the only producers who can make that wine in that area. And even if other wine makers want to produce a similar wine they cannot because the Domaine de Romanee company owns all of the land and they won’t sell it unless there is another French Revolution 😂
Ciaobello: yes, you are correct. The only thing I will add is just having a monopoly isn't enough..it has to be great wine because if you had a monopoly and it was terrible wine, you would just have a monopoly on an area no wants wine from. But that is their competitive advantage in Romanee Conti and La Tache. For RSV, I was incorrect..they don't have a monopoly but they are a large landholder and by virtue of that, they have the most knowledge of the region. There is no more RSV land and no one is selling and even if they were, Romanee Conti would buy it as they have economies of scale. So that is why the why keeps on getting better and better and the price keeps rising. Hope you enjoyed my video. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!
Rick: thank you for viewing my video and your comment. Yes, I realized this half way through the video so if I ever do a video on Richebourg, some of the same comments would apply. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!
HonoluluBadminton: thank you for viewing my video and your question. If you are asking DRC, not to my knowledge. I buy a lot from BC Liquor stores but we also have some good private stores like Liberty, Marquis and Everything Wine. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!

Tony: thanks for watching my video and your comment. Combination of 1/ I do have a day job that pays decently 2/ I spend, like others, on my hobby 3/ I buy wines and hold them; 4/ I have generous friends who share wine with me. 5/Because of the people I know, I understand how to buy wines at auction. I have been drinking for over 20 years so I didn't start off drinking these wines and many wines I have purchased many years ago. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!
Hop over to Europe and you’ll get a St. Vivant for around under 2000€ or a la Tâche for 2500. At least if it’s a restaurateur who wants ppl to drink wine, instead of hoarding it in the cellar. And yes, it’s worth it. At least for wine nerds. Breaks my heart when a guy without any knowledge and his barely 18ys old girls drink away this stuff.
holyfox: that is reasonable price if it is restaurant price. As for people drinking it without knowledge, that's life. I can't be upset at a person for having the money to drink whatever they like. The whole point is that wine is to be drunk...do you have to have any prerequisite to drink DRC? If knowledge was a prerequisite, then most people in the world shouldn't be drinking. I don't think we should be negative about others who drink wine. Who knows if that person is knowledgeable...maybe they are doing it for business. ....maybe they are celebrating a lottery win. I have been judged many times, particularly when I was younger when supposed wine nerds gave me the evil eye when I was drinking a nice bottle. Point is, people have different reasons and palates for drinking. My experience is that I am often surprised by how much insight people who supposedly have no wine knowledge have and how little so called wine nerds know. I find many wine nerds have a lot of book knowledge but very little practical drinking experience. Of course this is a generalization but I try not to judge a book by its cover. Cheers!
Yong Goh: thank you for viewing my video. Sorry not sure what you mean by my comment. Hope it is positive! I just drink whatever interests me but every should just drink what their budget allows. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!
Richebourg is not Monopole. DRC owned just less than 50% of total land at Richebourg. Or else DRC would put a sticker Monopole on the neck of the bottle

wictor: thank you for viewing my video and your comment. Just to clarify, it is not lost on me how special this bottle is so I wouldn't consider what I do casual drinking. Also, this is not 20K. That would be for the actual DRC Romanee Conti. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!
Wine is for drinking, there is not really a bad or good way as long as you enjoy it. This guy really loves wine, the wine is more loved / enjoyed right now because he really really is reviewing this wine, he tries to get everything out of it, there is nothing casual about this. Btw, i really enjoyed the review too!

Great video with a lot of background information! One small comment, Richebourg is not a monopole, DRC do owns a lot of it, a little over half.
