@@Zay279 thee was another clip where Luka explained the point that "it's easier to score 30 in the NBA than EuroLeague" and you can see how JJ has a hard time with points like that. He doesn't have that world perspective.

Most European players didn't grow up dreaming of the big lights, Hollywood, starring in music videos, and playing in big markets. They just wanted to play basketball, and it turned out that they were pretty good at it. In some ways, Doncic is actually more similar to American superstars in the way that he does care about these things. Also, in Europe, the team ALWAYS comes before the players. People are not fans of a particular player because they are said player. They are fans of that player because he plays on their team. You will not see many people who switch teams just because their 'favorite' player joined another team.
To your point in the nba its stupid they gon get rid of your favorite player asap Idk how the euro league and its organizations do it but over here just like everywhere else business comes first so thats why we appreciate players rather than teams

@@blackaf1society868 Trading and transferring happens with players in Europe too but here it's like the club is rooted in community and traditions and sometimes the rivalries go beyond the court to politics and even religions sometimes (eg. Real Madrid and Barcelona, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce etc). So family traditions teach you to love the club and not individual players who come and go. That's why if a player is loyal to a team for most of.his career they're appreciated a lot.

Jokic and doncic definitely would've loved to play together. But they are very loyal to their teams, so that won't happen anytime soon
Not just that, it would be impossible to trade them into the same team. The only way you can get Jokić into Dallas is if you trade Dončić, and vice-versa

The reason Euro players are more humble, down to earth and low maintenance is because they learn about discipline from European coaches, these NBA coaches are way too soft and get on their knees for players.

Luka is spot on with the star maintenance part. Everybody are thinking the same thing that euro stars are more low key, but it's only because you don't feel you are on top of the world yet. Since when do you hear a high maintenance US soccer player? Great perspective!
I think his point was to remind JJ that in Europe , soccer is still king. The intense scrutiny that LeBron gets here goes first to to Messi, Ronaldo, etc. While BBall stars get their props, they're generally second tier in media attention .

In Europe, during season, you play mainly against teams from your own country or even cities (derby) so the Fan club is like a family clan and geographically it's easier to follow road games as well.
In the NBA a team plays between states (only in California, Texas and NY there are more than one team). This means that big fans groups rarely follow road games meaning less energy and passion as a fan. Less the in Europe.
When there are rival fans in the same game you grow with more passion, love and dedication to your team and thus you become part of the club. Players come and go but you will never change your team.
I believe baseball has a more team-oriented mentality.
This year I wish Denver wins the championship because I admire Jokic. I also follow the Lakers and before that the Cavs only because of Lebron. In Europe I have my childhood team. Players come and go, you don't change.
Second reason: through social media it's easier to follow a Star. It wasn't like that until 20 years ago.
Third: America loves stars and vip more than Europe.
I disagree regarding your stance on passion. You can't determine who has more passion where everybody is different. How you described teams playing against only their country/city is literally how rivalries work here in America. I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan, we have a big rivalry with the Dallas Mavericks BECAUSE we're in the same state who we have as superstars does not take away from the love we have for our team. I've seen A LOT of passion at those playoff games arguably more than any European game that isn't Soccer but hey I can't determine your level of passion so please don't determine ours not everybody here are Lakers fans which are more matching of that description
I don't watch Earupian basketnallm, only follows the NBA, but when I wacthed I remember Sergio Llull that he mentioned - I was stunned one game I watched him vs Macabi Tel Aviv, he was an amazing player, crazy 3 point ability and killer mentality.
I think the European superstars are lower maintenance because they have less ego, basketball isn't as popular in Europe and they aren't worshipped like some of the American players are, might help keep them humble
Yeahhh noo ,Spanoulis was worshipped like a god in Piraeus when he was in Olympiacos team, a true captain, but they stay humbled because they learn the game the right way (always the team above all the individuals)

it all boils down to the fact that the US is a highly individualistic society. Everyone in the US got an ego bigger than themselves and when someone is actually a level headed individual they get praised. In Europe the upbringing is just different that's why

The reason why European basketball players are low maintenance is because of the European basketball culture and their coaches. You won't see much superstars in Europe putting up triple doubles, pushing for 3s, making stunts on lay up. There's no "me" in there. Everything is a team effort and that comes mainly from coaches who have absolute authority. Look up Serbian and Greek coaches angry compilation. They will literally send an MVP of the league in the locker room if they aren't doing what they were told to and if they think they are better than the rest. You just don't have that in NBA where superstars often have more say and power than coaches. The closest to European style coach is Pop and ironically he is of Serbian/Croatian descent. There's too much egoism in the USA basketball

the answer to maintenance thing is cause most of the american players come through highschool and college where they get hyped and go through that period like some kind of superstars i guess. there is no college basketball in europe and you are no superstar until you make it overseas or at least until you reach a certain height succeswise
