- I have a lot of artists who inspire my art but today it's about finding inspiration and how old masters influence my art over the past 5-10 years. Even though I don't do oil painting anymore, these artists are still inspiring to me and motivate me to create great art that I enjoy. I hope you enjoy this list, let me know which artists are your favorites?

What a great group of inspirational artists. I'm surprised you included Mucha! Such a different style from the others mentioned. I also love his inclusion of geometrics in his compositions and I find him pretty inspiring, too. It's surprising you left out Sorolla. His treatment of light is magical.
I couldn't even begin to name all the artists I find inspiring because they encompass so many different styles of art... Monet, Magritte, O'Keeffe, Escher, are at the top of the list but there are SO many more from all different eras.
Sorolla is one of my favorites too! :(((( haha I probably could've made such a longer list but what to do.
I completely agree, too many inspiring artists. That's why I squeezed in 7 in this video even though I said top 5 haha xD
Maxfield Parish and R. Atkinson Fox!! So dreamy ❤❤❤
Those are great ones as well! :)
I like Mark carder oil paintings and Louise De masi in watercolour who both are on RUclips currently
Thanks for sharing, they are great :)
Edgar Payne book as you had mentioned absolutely right...I felt his book was very very tough to read...very complicated..I completely agree...I left it
No doubt haha, glad I wasn't the only one.
I love you man! Great vid❤
Much appreciated!! :)
Love this!
Great to be inspired but also develop your own independence through problem solving
Definitely, that's key for me! :) Thanks for watching.
Great list my friend. You were an artisr I followed from the beginning of my art journey
Glad to hear that, much appreciated!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated!
Really love Mucha's art nouveau 👌👌 Also dig the oil cityscapes too
Totally agree :)
Good Idea I expected wow
:)
Some of my favorite artists are Farrell R Collett watercolors and oils
Also, a local artist, Merilyn Rose. Southern Utah. I love her simplicity.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and artists :)
Letting your nuts hang as an artist is using your paint brush like a boat oar and then having something that’s immediately recognisable by the viewer. As if it was slaved over with hyper fine strokes but it wasn’t at all. Such balls and confidence in your internal vision! Not many can do that.
Can you suggest best John singer Sargent book or biography?
I haven't read a lot of different books about him unfortunately.
Why is it... everyone quotes very old artists...not the current ones...does that mean the current artists aren't that good?
Imo it's due to the fact that mastery requires time for a culture to reflect on its power. The artists and their work need to be taken into context with the culture and period they're in. Sargent wasn't all that long ago in the grand scheme of art mastery, neither was Picasso or Warhol or Basquiat. We have greats today, but Masters require time and historical reflection.
It doesn't mean the current ones aren't good. I purposely wanted to name only dead artists that inspire me. I may do another video eventually about my favorite current artists, as I do have a list. It's just a preference.
Why is it most of the good artists are bad teachers and good teachers are bad in art.
I wonder where I fit in that equation ahaha.
I think because they either focus on painting or on teaching but not both. If that makes sense.
