This is the first time in a very long time that I am actually happy with Dave Roberts. He used the bullpen to their strength and completely neutralized that potent Padre offense.
I remember two great, and very different, calls for the 88 post season. When the Dodgers finished the playoffs with the Mets, the call came from the captain of the flight I was on as we were preparing for landing at LAX. I no longer remember why I was on a plane, but I clearly remember that the captain was an unabashed Dodgers fan and clearly came across as though everyone on the plane needed to hear this conclusion. The next great call was on KLOS radio station. The Dodgers finished the WS on either Thursday, October 20. As with every Sunday back then, KLOS played a complete album. That Sunday was Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police. As it finished, the DJ said “That was Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police, which translates to The Dodgers take The As in 5.” Perfect.
Love that Vassegh mentioned Kershaw’s Game 4 in the 2015 NLDS. He pitched a gem against the Mets that day. A true October classic from a guy who’s received a lot of October grief.
I remember watching my Dodgers beat the Mets in that deciding game back in 1988. Everyone was saying that we were going to beat the Mets. I remember having tears in my eyes as I watched that final out and Mike Scotia running towards Orel Hershiser in pure celebration. Hell yes that team was the most special Dodger team. Our Dodgers weren't "supposedly" supposed to beat both the Mets and the A's.
I too remember very clearly deciding to be satisfied with the NL championship, because I thought that no team could beat the A’s hitting. 1988 taught us that good pitching beats good hitting.
More than anything thank you Padres for poking the Bear. The Dodgers needed a heel to rise to there potential. Without the incentive the Dodgers would of been the ho hum no energy pros with no grit playoff losers.
Starter is the main problem for Dodgers. Game 1 Flaherty, 2 Buhler, 3 Yamamoto should be OK. This way Buhler can be back up well because there is a rest day for travel before game 3. Games 4 and 5 are the problem. It's going to be crucial how much usage the bullpen gets til those games.
I hope Tommy, Muncy and Will wake up their bats so the Dodgers don't depend only on Teo and that much on Mookie, Freddie and the dream of Shohei plus some aid from Lux
Dodgers had their big sugar rush against the Padres. They are going to crash. It doesn't matter how the new guys want it, not enough experience. The Mets have reinvented themselves and are extremely dangerous. The on paper theory is null during big games.
Man get out of here with that bs it was a hard fought series by both of the teams that know each other so well. Now they are gonna ride that momentum to the next series which is also gonna be a hard fought battle and the dodgers like they have done all season will rise to the occasion.
@@usmarine212-ck7nr the comment above said the dodgers are gonna crash but like it told them this is gonna be a hard fought battle but I have faith in my team
@@randallmarsh1187 what? it doesn't matter if it's the playoffs or not. in statistics, 22 at bats is a small sample size. he could easily go 11 for his next 22 with nobody on base. it will average itself out

Yes I agree. He was atrocious past years

Every Dodger pitcher challenged the Padre hitters Up and In. Machado, Profar Arranz and Tatis all got chin music. Masterful.

Dodgers in 5 LET’S F GOOOOO!

Man...the A's that year were "invincible". What a glory
You mean Rick Dempsey running out to Oral Hershiser.
DV forgot to mention Kirk Gibson, Fernando, jand the most important motivator Tommy Lasorda

Go Dodgers
David is the man!!!
Go big Blue!

THE KING KNUCKLEHEAD IN CHAMPIONSHIP FORM
Surely with the loss of Vesia, Dodgers would recall lefty pitcher Wroblesky to their bullpen to back up the other lefty reliever Banda.
Brent Honeywell was added to the roster
@@DodgerBlue1958
I thought Honeywell was added before Vesia was injured. Honeywell is right handed.
The Mets are well above average against lefty pitching, not having a lefty may be a blessing.
Better not be dry tonight DV
DV!
Gambling 📕 have Mets starter pitcher less the 3 so that ant to good if u ant strikeing them out they going deep in this game at one for dodgers
Vassegh likes to hear his own voice. Thinks he knows it all. That's why I stopped listening to Dodger Talk.
David still looks dry.
LOL
Let's go Mets

😂 even if somehow the series go 6 or 7 at the worst both of those games are in LA
You could also say that about the Mets beating the Phillies.
Mets almost swept the phillies ...Brewers were tougher matchup for mets

Dodgers will loose
0 for 22 is a small sample size. Did David not attend his statistics 101 class in college?
Not when considering the playoffs!
