Just drained the coolant in my W123 with M02 (model200).I would have been strugling to find that drainplug in the block without your helpfull video. Thanks a lot.
Hi there, thanks for the well detailed video. Question: Does the position of the air bleed valve matter when replacing the thermostat? what happens if its placed randomly in the housing?
Hello, the drainplug ring, is it the same size as the oil drainplug ring? i have some of those in spare but can't seem to find any plugs or rings specificly for coolant drain on the engine. Thanks for the video, seems like an easy job.
You are welcome! In my experience, coolant colour isn’t my first priority, I look for coolant in the auto parts store that is recommended for European vehicles.
Do more videos about this car bro, there is no content for the e models, there is only video for the Diesel models bro and they have a lot of differences
just a question but where do you get your parts from for the 230e because i have been looking every where and i still cant find a site that sells those parts.
I use eBay to find the stuff I need. Its a great resource if you use it discerningly. I double check the part numbers I purchase with those posted in forums. In my situation, I live in Canada with a European imported car, so this seems to be the best option. But I’m not looking for used or knock-off parts, all maintenance items I purchase come from European sellers. As an example, all of my oil filters typically come from Latvia. My transmission filter and gasket was shipped from Germany. My thermostat cam from Britain. Prices are still reasonable if you take your time to read through the information.
I haven’t driven a carbureted version of the M102, but I typically average about 350kms per tank combined driving with the Bosch fuel injection system.
Hm i believe that i have the opposite situation should i change the thermostat to my w201 and if mine is rated at 87 degrees Celsius should i use a rated one in 85 or 82 degrees region greece climate hot summer normal winters so during the winter is fine but from April til october damn it hoes more than 90s in idle
@@DyleupWestburn Now how’s that for a guess... :). I had a euro spec (I’m from the UK) 1992 230E W124. The “son” of your car as it were, it’s interesting comparing the two in terms of design language and lineage. Both amazing vehicles.
@@michaeljose8122 That is really cool. I would love the compare the two cars side by side. This is my first Mercedes (European) and it’s a fun departure from Japanese and American cars.
Hi, this is Eden from Hong Kong I am driving W124 230E I have a question, please help if this is ok Hong Kong is warm place, when cold start, under 60 degree for long time, it takes more than 20 minutes to reach 80 I saw your video, that is easily come to 7x I suspect my thermostat is either stick open or stuck half open Do you think this seems to be a problem? And what is the working temperature? How long should it take to normal temperature? Thanks
Great to hear from you. Sounds to me like you are on the right path. I would suspect a faulty thermostat as well. Would be worthwhile to replace your coolant at the same time as your thermostat. My car also took forever to warm up. Warm up can vary depending on how you drive or leave it idling. It shouldn’t take too long if the engine is under load, provided you aren’t in a cold climate like you said. I replaced the original thermostat with a new one rated for the same 87 degree Celsius temperature.

Thanks so much! Same to you!
Thank you for these videos on the 230. Hard to find any information on 230, nice to see another engine bay and underneath.

Thanks for the video, seems like an easy job.
They appear to be the same, if it fits around the plug, I don’t see any issues with it.
Hey, I can seem to find a radiator for it. Would you happen to know what radiator part number would work for this exact car?
Thanks for the video. Does the color of the cooler matter? Added red coolant for my M102. They said it should be blue.

Nice old car - let me guess 1984 or 85?
It’s a 1984. Imported to Canada from Europe.
