Building on the incredible Husqvarna Norden 901, there is a new adventure bike in town, the Husqvarna Norden 901 expedition.
A few months ago, chad flew out to South Africa to put the Norden through its paces. With over 600km of riding, 80% off road in the course of 2 days, there was plenty to sample from. Chad joins us in this video to share his thoughts on the Husqvarna Norden 901 expedition, adventure motorcycle riding and how motorcycle launches should be done!

I also absolutely love that bike, I actually think it’s among top 5 best world bikes at the moment 😊
KTM 890 including Husqvarna Norden is probably the best adventure platform today.
@@fredrik999z Agreed, just Husky is way better looking to me.
@@roverroko306 yes 😀
Pick up my 2024 Norden 901 Expedition tomorrow
I have probably seen this review 4 times since it came out. I stumble on it again and start it and then, ahh yeah I have already seen this. And then I can´t stop watching it. It´s bloody brilliant.
Thanks, glad you think so! Aaron KNOX
Together with a NX250 it is the Expedition is the best bike i have ever had. And beleive, i had some bikes in my life. Like 1190R and 800 XC. Tenere's, XT500, Dr. Big and so on and so on.
Almost everything is very good. The thing Husqvarna should have done was to place somekind of changeble scratch plate at the higherup sidepanels. Like Yamaha did back then on the XT660Z. The bashplate protects everything sitting low on the bike. But by that in a crash sometimes you get more force higherup. And the bike will be overleaning when laying on the ground. Making it also more difficult to pick it up. Until now there are no large crashbars that fit the Expedition.
And at the front of the bashplate they should create somekind of toolbox. Keeping the weight of the tools as low as possible.
And to keep nagging a bit. Husqvarna did a great job with the Expedition. With all the extra stuff. But instead of the luggage they would have made me happier if it came fitted with large crashbars. Created those crashbars that it also works as a base for attaching some softbags. Great for a bit of luggage seperation. Perfect for your easy accessible raingear and a pair of extra gloves. Behind the left sideplastic it would have been great if they created from very strong PE a compartment for one liter of Dalwhinnie. From my point of view this would not have been to much to ask, not ?
This is definitely the best review out of all the ones published, and I’ve seen them all.
Thanks Richard, appreciate your kind feedback! Aaron KNOX
review deserves more than one thumbs up. Love that you were able to compare the Expedition to the prior Norden launch. The only negative is the floppy side luggage....great results if it just comes down to poorly designed accessory which most riders are going to upgrade anyways.
Thanks, so glad you think so! Aaron KNOX
Now that's a proper bike launch! And a great video too, Knox. When I first heard the pricing on the 901 expedition I thought it was a typo compared to the standard version.
The original Norden 901 is actually overpriced.
@@fredrik999zCompared to what ?
I absolutely LOVE this motorcycle!! Excellent vid guys; keep up the great work!
Would have been interesting to see the marks an scrapes from the crashes to on the bike :)
I bought a 750 GS cause that was inside my budget, but i will say that the 901 Expedition is the best value bike out there. At first it did not like the looks of the 901 but it has grown on me the last year, so maybe i'll buy this the next time i change bike (2025).
Thank you for sharing your thoughts from the launch. Sometimes on paper I wonder why it costs so much.. But this review just quantified why it’s worth that price. Very few bikes come out of the factory floor ready to be bashed like that. Well done on this awesome review!
Thanks Joshua, glad you think so! Aaron KNOX
Great video. It’s such a nice looking bike. Maybe the best looking ADV of them all. It’s cheaper than the Desert X, Tiger 900 Rally, Pan America, etc. too. 👍🏾
What? 😂😂 The expedition costs more then 17700 euro..anyway is a righe price. Desert x is so far from the 899 KTM. Ktm and Husky do another job. Tiger costs 16000
.
@@Kaysersoza in the US, my statement is very accurate, so…
Nice stuff!
I’ve got 2,000 miles on my Expedition and love it more every time I ride it.
And as we all know now the price was a VERY kind offer from Husqvarna!
🏍️💨
Enjoy your Expedition! Aaron KNOX
Ahí Nico Ride Me Five... Un grande!!!
AT standard is heavier (with no addons like big bashplate, racks and luggage). AT AS more in GS/ Tiger1200 teritory
If different tyre choice was a thing they’ve not told me picking mine up in 2 weeks and I’ve not been given a choice
HAY DEFENSAS PARA LA MOTO?
Really nice review guys. So how tall is the rider? It’s a really tall bike isn’t it? I love it but I don’t think I need it, regular Norden would do just fine. And I set on that bike it was perfect, I could handle that bike, no problem. Not sure how I’d handle the Exp…
Yes the standard Norden is awesome, but if you value the extras on the Expedition, its definitely worth the extra money in our opinion. THanks, Aaron KNOX
@@KnoxArmour Thanks for your reply. Oh I agree for sure, even if you don't value the extras there's no denying Exp model is worth the price difference. The suspension upgrade alone costs more than the price difference. Not saying I wouldn't love to buy the Exp model, just said I don't really need it, but that's mostly cause I can't really afford it right now. Maybe by next spring.
Does it crash well with all the top fairing?
Apparently so, but obviously if the bike goes upside down, I cant see it fairing too well and that screen will probably snap. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
Between this bike or Aprilia Tuareg 660 , which one ??
Hard call, but the Norden is hard to beat and is more powerful. Aaron KNOX
The Tuareg is a bit lighter, narrower seat, more Enduro than tourer, it's a Tenere 700 with better suspension and electronics.
The Norden is one level up as an adventure tourer with more creature comforts (heated super comfortable wide seat, also for pillion, large windscreen) for long touring. Even though it's heavier, due to the fuel tanks being low to the ground it feels very light. All in all a better bike IMO.
However, I don't trust the reliability and build quality of KTM/Husqvarna. A lot of their bikes are built in China these days. The Aprilia is probably better in that regard.
For example, Big Rock Moto"s review showed that the backside stitching of the luggage bags came loose already after a few hundred miles off-road. These bags won't last for more than one trip.
@@sv650nyc7 KTM 890 range including Norden is manufactured in Austria. 790 engine is built on license by CF Moto in China.
Unless you were lucky You can’t have one…dealers could sell 5 times their allocation so all gone ….way too cheap…👍
the headlight condensation on the husqvarnas are just ridiculous. The build quality is just completely disappointing
You have a ducati and speak? In italy we say DUCATI SOLDI BUTTATI...translate alone. DUCATI IS ONLY a panigale v4 (obviusly ONLY S). The others are for people that want only appear. Like a 950 ss with so slow engine and so high weight. With fix suspensions. The 110 cv of that engine are so slow. In first time of rpm the bike is absent, and if you find a duke 790 eats you like a pitbull with a chihuahua. I had same engine in desert x. An 890 or an 901 make scream compared. A DUKE 890 R has premium components and for you should be impossible keeping same speed.
Great bike, but if you think this is good luggage, you're clueless
