what to do with bird bluffing?

  • What is bluffing in birds?
The hallmarks of bluffing are lunging, nipping, biting, hissing, and general resistance to interaction. Birds can enter into this stage seemingly overnight, and generally when they are between the ages of 4 months and one year. No one knows for sure exactly why some parrots go through the bluffing stage.
Claw so far is still in bluffing phase . Whenever our hands getting close to him, he would try to bite our hands. It is not easy for all of us. Our hands are full of small scratches from Claw. We did a little bit research and found out that hand feeding Claw can help reduce his bluffing. It did work well . One day we found that Claw was really addicted to the multicolour pen . He could give up anything for this pen . :) We let him play with this pen , then tried to touch him, which he allowed us to touch his feather . Now Claw is rarely bluffing and we are closer to him . :)

Pet only the head and neck. Petting anywhere else will create a hormonal bird.

How old is yours ? I found that if you have him or her young like months old easier to train . Claw is no longer so aggressive ant more . However our new one Bubble still not allowing us to be close to him . We had him when he was almost 2. Maybe more time can solve it.
