I've only let my Indian ring neck out once inside the house because I had to put 2 toys inside the cage and let him or her out to walk around but I've had the bird since I've got the bird as a baby but I've been told it's a boy because of the black line around it's neck but is that true
@@crystalwaterhouse5680 is there a reason you are not taking out your bird from the cage? Your bird needs to come out of the cage daily and should never be locked in a cage all the time. This is not healthy for your bird at all, this can lead to many health and mental issues long term.
First time I saw my parrot clearing his crop, I was legitimately terrified. I was like "Are you choking? Do you need water? Do you have hiccups? DO NOT WALK TOWARDS THE LIGHT"
Ricco is an excellent model! He’s so adorable! I knew these things from other bird videos, but it’s great to see the most beautiful Ricco in the world demonstrating them!
No wonder, Patience, being attentive and good Manners..makes Ricco the most Desirable Parrot..! Ricco is the Best..🦜😍😍!!! Also, I am surprised amd learnt 3-4 things about their body language!! Thank you so much 🙏 Ricco Mom for this beautiful Video!! Thank you again!!!! God bless you.,🙏🙏🙏🦜🦜🙏🙏
We got our ringneck last July, when he was just 3 months old. At first he would just sit in the corner of his cage, terrified, and would totally freak out whenever we cleaned him out or changed his food/water. It took about 2 months of _very_ gentle movements and patience but now he loves nothing more than being around his humans; he loves to sit on my shoulder while I'm pottering around the house, we share food, and he even sleeps on my hand sometimes (although I'm not yet permitted to give scritches). They are such wonderful companions and it makes my heart sing whenever he picks up a new word/sound 🐦❤
Thankyou for this! I just picked up my Kiwi today and wanted to make sure he was comfortable. He is my second IRN but i wanted to refresh on what to pay attention to. THANK!!
Your welcome. Congratulations on your new member of the flock. Kiwi is such a cute name. I’m always here if you need any advice, I’ll do my best to help out. 😊
Thank you very much Julia for making this Video😊It’s so important for ppl to know normal behavior or if it’s a sign something wrong & your bird needs to see an Aviary Vet. Birds can hide there sicknesses very Well & ppl don’t recognize the signs of behavior when theirs something wrong or when there sick. Ive seen all of my birds do plenty of these Healthy actions on a daily basis Thank Goodness🙏😍You are such a Wonderful Caring Bird Momma for Ricco🥰Thank you again for sharing this important information with us, Have a Fabulous Fun Safe day w/Sweet Cutie Patootie Ricco….Enjoy! Aww thank you so much, I really appreciate this 🥰. I think I’m always extra paranoid when it comes to Ricco not behaving right, but I guess it’s better to be safe. They definitely can go down hill quickly and do try to hide any kind of illness, that’s why it’s so important to understand them. Thank you again for all your support and kind words. Have a great day 😊
Thanks a lot Julia for sharing the actions done by parrots, few body movements you showed i have often seen my parrots doing the same. now i know much more about parrots . Thank you💓 and love u 💓
Its my pleasure. I’m sure you know all of them, but hopefully it helps new bird owners or those that are still learning. I’ve had birds all my life and I’m still learning lol
Great Advice, I've had Quakers, Cockatiels and parakeets most of my life an I had to learn on my own, as I found little information until I got a subscription to bird talk magazine. The information here is invaluable.

@@angelslife416 Aww thank you, so are you. It’s actually a beautiful day here in Canada. The heat has finally calmed down and we have some great weather for the next couple of days. Hopefully it will be a nice day for you tomorrow.
So exciting, you will be amazing. The most important thing is to have patience and not compare your bird to what you see on social media. Unfortunately social media just show the cute posts and not the reality of what actually goes into owning birds.
This is so interesting. I really enjoy watching the educational videos you make. It makes me understand parrots so much better and really appreciate what it takes to have one. Great job Ricco and mom 👍💚
I loved, and needed this, so much!! We just got two ringnecks yesterday and I’ve already noticed some of the behaviors you covered in this video but didn’t know what they all meant! I feel much more at ease knowing now and knowing that they’re content. I’m definitely going to have to set a play space up on top of their cage! I can’t yet tell if they’re male or female yet, as they’re only 3 months or so, but Shakespeare and Blue are definitely curious and do really well with being handled. I’ve noticed Shakespeare won’t yet let me give him little rubs on his head or neck like Blue but he will now let me rub the front a little when I couldn’t do that yesterday so progress! They’re still quiet, except for their little spats (which have decreased since yesterday too, really since we got them home) but Blue started singing a little note or two and it’s so pretty! Lol. Thank you so much for these videos and you certainly have a new subscriber!
Aww congratulations on your new ringneck parrots, that’s so exciting. I love the names you picked for them, it will fit them regardless if they are males or females. They grow up so quickly so enjoy all the moments you can with them, I wish I could rewind time with my Ricco lol. I’m glad you found this video helpful, hopefully some of the other videos will help you out as well. Thank you for subscribing 💕
My 8 weeks about to be 9 did the beak grinding for the first time got me thinking, did I feed him something I shouldn't been? LOL. Turns out, its normal for them to do that. And mine does it daily. Good to know!
I like the relaxed way of your detailed record concerning the body language with those perfect picture examples. Watching vids of other ringneck owners, I sometimes have the feeling, they should not "overlove" their pet, know what i mean. Your video can be helpful here. I´d like to make a similar video about the meaning of all the squeeks and chirps they do. I´m sure there are 10 or more different calls, I learned to interpret. (But I don´t have recorded material) Perhaps you can use this as an idea for your next video.
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the video. I actually did a video on Indian ringneck sounds and meanings, it’s in my playlist under Indian ringneck parrot educational videos. I’m still trying to get better at the educational videos. I enjoy doing them to help others, but they are much more time consuming. Thank you for watching.
Thank you I love to watch your videos I have a female ring neck she’s hilarious but I am grateful for your videos it’s helpful to know what to look for in her behaviours

@@Riccothegreenpiedirn my Zeus makes the beak grinding sound and I was wondering what it was. Now I know he’s content. It’s part of his nightly ritual along with his full repertoire of “you wanna go upstairs?” And other bedtime vocalizing. Other body language I was doing well with, tho I still haven’t been able to give him head scritches even though he’s very sweet and social.
Oh wow I learned some things! I never knew these things much but now that explains so many things my bird does! Thank you Ricco and Ricco mom! You are so cute Ricco

3:24 hello! i've noticed that the ring neck that i've been bird sitting has been doing this, and it's only when i go up to him and talk to him like a baby, but they insist it's a male ring neck, "he" is only about 8 months old, is this also common in young males or is this only specific to female ring necks?
Do you have a video of the bird? It’s difficult to say without seeing it. Some people mistaken some behaviours with others, some females have been known to do similar behaviours as the males but I have yet to see the males do the females mating behaviour.
@@Riccothegreenpiedirnif you have an instagram i could dm you a video of him doing it, i'm just really confused because out of all of the people in the house i seem to be the only one he does it to, and he'll yell until he has my attention and goes right back to it😅

@@Riccothegreenpiedirn I believe it was an unwanted pet left in the park were other IRN live but at the start of the evening when the other birds leave this one is not following because it is not able to flight. I went to feed it for some weeks but it was a difficult task because the squirrels, the pigeons and other parakeets take its food. Also when it falls from the tree the goose chase it away. It is happy at home eating and getting use to its new environment. It visit its cage for resting and extra food but spent its time up at the robes and hanging structure my husband had made for that beautiful creature we call pollito. Greetings from London
I came here because of beak grinding, my neighbours gave me their parrot yesterday for 3 weeks as they r on holiday and i was worried if she is in danger but this made me happy, yesterday she didn't came near me and ran inside the cage but today she was sitting on my shoulder whole day while I was working and slept but in evening she made this sound and also worried about feather preening, i thought she is feeling itchy
Beak grinding is normal and just means she’s happy and relaxing. Preening is also normal, it’s just a daily thing birds do to keep their feathers in good condition.
I am having a ringneck since 2 years. And as you shown in 3:25, my parrot also do this before I going to pet him. And you are telling that this is female mating behaviour. Then I was shocked because I thought that my parrot is male. Then what it means? Am I mating with my parrot? 😂
If your bird is doing this she is most likely a female lol. Just means she’s excited and flirting with you, stay away from her body and only pet her head. How old is she? Although this behaviour is normal try to discourage her from doing it if she is doing it all the time, it could cause her to lay eggs if she is hormonal and showing other hormonal behaviours.
It really depends what you are looking for, they are definitely not for everyone and can be difficult for some. If you haven’t already you may want to watch my video I did on Expectations of owning a Ringneck parrot VS Reality and what you see on social media. After watching the video I’d also recommend reading all the comments and go on Facebook pages or parrot forums to get other opinions and experiences. If you are willing to put in the work and have no expectations of them, they just might be the right fit for you, but do as much research first beforehand.
Hey… im Peyton im 19 years old a couple days ago I got a ring neck and I’m still learning about them. I have one with me in the kitchen. She’s just sitting on her cage that I got for her for it going on the go when I tried to teach her step up. She bit my finger, but I wasn’t bleeding, I figured I was probably going to fast. Do you think you could give me some tips because I’m still new with ringnecks I’ve only had Conyers and budgies. Please understand I love ringnecks a lot. if you could help me, that would be great but if you’re busy, I understand have a good one.
Congratulations on your new Ringneck parrot. IRN’s are much different in comparison to conures and budgies, but seeing as your not new to birds you will be fine. The most important thing is to not have expectations and keep in mind every bird is different. That being said it is best to take things slow and don’t push her into anything she doesn’t feel comfortable with as you will lose her trust. If you are on Instagram or Facebook DM me and I’ll send you some other links to videos I have done that may help you, or you can find them in my playlist.
Of course it is, but it’s always best to talk to her yourself so she picks up on what you want her to learn . But yes you can definitely show her other birds if she enjoys it, just make sure you spend time with her as well 🥰
Thank you so much ,yes we do spend a lot of time with her and we do talk a lot with her,she love the video's and she talks back to the birds on my phone
Aww thank you 🥰 Just a proper diet and sunlight when you can is the best thing. Here is a video of foods you can feed your bird 👉ruclips.net/video/DfkhUgQQuvE/видео.html Hopefully this helps.
If your bird is very afraid and flapping all over the place when you go near the cage you need to work with him more. I would use treats and food to gain his trust. You can leave it through the bars for now and walk away until he is comfortable enough to come close to you in his cage. Whatever you do don’t make any fast movements, talk softly and sit at the cage level without to much eye contact. Just talk to him every day and be around him in the same room so he sees you mean no harm. Eventually if you want to take him out of the cage you will need to do this in a room that is safe so he doesn’t hurt himself like windows & mirrors. It can be dangerous for them when they get scared, if there is a possibility that he could really injure himself you may need to trim his wings slightly for now. I would only allow someone who knows what they are doing to do this, you can let them grow in after. Hope that helps.
Hello hope you’re having a good day ! But my ringneck is a female and she’s really aggressive to everyone and when we open her cage she flies out and when we want to her put back in she drops to the ground and starts running like a duck and then we have to wrap her in a towel like a burrito. how can we stop her from being aggressive and stop her from flying on of the cage and also let us pick her up ? Her name is NooNoo and we rescued her she was an adult and we had her from four years back.
Sounds like she is afraid as well. It’s best to work with her slowly to gain her trust. Try to find out what her favourite treats or foods are and only use these to gain her trust when going up to her cage. You need to talk softly and move slowly with whatever you do. Try sitting near her cage and just talk to her softly and show her that you don’t mean any harm and at the same time offer her treats, this will take time and patience. Afterwards when she sees that you are the one with good food use that to get her back in the cage, but you can only give her that treat at bedtime. You can also try searching videos on how to help with a fearful bird. Hope that helps for now.
my ringneck does a little bow and a "huh" when I come in. his cage is always open, so just wondering what is with that, he will do it on a morning, and if I have been away for a hour or longer.
Hi there! So I know this video is a little old, but I wanted to ask you if Ricco has ever done this? Rukus is 2 yr 6 mth now and 3 days ago started making this crazy squealing noise while playing on the cage watching videos?? I've never heard this noise and the best way I can describe it is it sounds like a little squealing pig 😂 is he/she ok? Thanks!
Hi we are getting a male IRN baby very soon. We had an African Grey Parrot for 31 years (since she was a baby) sadly she passed from heart disease. She was very nice & never bit. I’ve read IRN can be snippy especially during adolescence, as well as not liking to be touched by humans. Any advice on how to handle these 2 major fi cents I have? Thank you in advance. ❤
So sorry to hear about the loss of your African Grey, after 31 years that must’ve been so difficult. Every IRN will be different, I just recommend getting them used to things like touches, hands, noises and pretty much introduce them to anything as a baby. I regret not travelling more with Ricco as a baby in a car and have him used to being in other new surroundings and homes for travelling purposes. Other than that it’s all about learning the behaviour of your bird and understanding what they like or dislike. Although Ricco is a sweetheart he still will bite when over excited and playing or doesn’t want scratches anymore, but I’ve learned to pick up on it ahead of time however sometimes it’s unavoidable. Hope that helps.
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn this helps a lot thank you‼️ African Grey parrots are very strong & Rowdy (my girl RIP) only bit me once on accident when she was startled at the vet. It drew blood but it was an accident. It was so difficult when she passed away. She was on her perch, fell off & was flapping her wings at the bottom of her cage. I scooped her up held her & she passed in my arms. I started giving her mouth to mouth. I brought her to the vet we’ve had since she was a baby. He offered to do a free necropsy on her. He said she passed from heart disease I guess it’s the #1 thing birds in captivity pass away from. There are no tests to check for this and she was healthy the night before. Ok thanks for reading & I’ll be sure to keep watching your videos.
Hi there my indian ring neck is 4 months old and i have had him for 1 month 2 weeks please give me advice on how to gain his trust and shall i get his wings clipped seem to flutter every time i come near his cage
It takes time to gain trust and build a bond. Use food as a way to build trust and anything you do, do it slowly and talk softly. Try sitting near his cage every day and talk softly without eye contact, but sit far enough so your not making him afraid. It’s a difficult decision about wing clipping, but if it’s for the bird’s safety you could and allow them to grow back in after. Make sure that wherever you take him for a wing clip they do it properly and not to short, you still want him to be able to glide and land properly otherwise he could hurt himself. If you decide not to clip his wings, be sure to make your house safe when you let him out if the cage especially if he’s afraid he could bang into mirrors and windows. Also never put your hand in the cage for now, let him warm up to you slowly and work at his pace, once you ruin the trust it’s difficult to get it back and he might become aggressive out of fear. Is he hand fed or wild?
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn thanks when would you let him out the cage and how if he is afraid of me and wont let me guide him out the cage ?? He is getting better he lets me put my hand on his cage now widout panicking also i sometimes leave my hand in there for about 45 mins wid some seeds in there eventually he will come and take seeds from my hand. On the advert my wife bought him for me the person said hand reared but after doing my research and keeping an eye on his movements to me he seems like he has just been breeded and wild
@@qazali5744 that’s amazing, such great news. I would keep working with him and if you are planning on taking him out I would try to keep him in a safe room where he can’t hurt himself, like windows, mirrors etc. You could also do wing clipping to keep him safe for now. I would keep his favourite foods and don’t feed him those, keep those for only training. Is he on a all seed diet or pellets as well? Does he eat vegetables and fruits? I keep walnuts and almonds as treats only for Ricco.
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn thanks getting there one time i let him out basically flew in to the wall which in my mind would have hurted him i am Gonna keep mangos aside for him as treats he is mostly fruit and doesnt seem to enjoy pellets should i not feed him seeds and use them as treats ??
@@qazali5744 Oh no, hopefully he’s ok. Are you trying to convert him to pellets? If so this needs to be done slowly . Eventually once he enjoys pellets you can feed him the seeds as treats. Try to go with natural pellets with no colour and natural preservatives. If he’s on a seed diet for now he definitely needs greens and vegetables, Vegetables is a very important part of their diet. I have a video in my playlist on how to introduce them to unfamiliar foods like pellets and vegetables. I also have a video for safe foods and diet for a ringneck parrot. You can find both in my playlist under educational videos for ringneck parrots, hopefully they will help you.

Hello, i was wondering would i be able to use this video as a presentation example video in my assignment? Im studying teaching and part of that is presenting a mock presentation of teaching people about animal body language (since my main qualification is in animal studies) I need a video similar to yours to show as part of the presentation. Ill just show the video as part of my powerpoint. So no widespread use or anything. Can i use yours?
I’m so sorry but that won’t be possible. The female ringneck parrot in this video is not owned by myself and I had permission from her to use the short clip. She doesn’t allow her videos to be used by just anyone. Sorry about that, all the best in your assignment.
So I got my baby and all she wants is to come out... which she has. Poo everywhere constant baby wipes 😂 she seem very happy keeps making that grinding noise on my curtain rail. African grey doesn't care about her and Visa versa. Although will always be careful as this could be an issue as birds are temperamental. Especially my grey 😂 she came with 0 toys in her tiny cage so any links etc would be appreciated x
Aww congratulations, I’m glad it’s going well so far 🥰. Did you mean toys for both of them ? If so I always recommend natural chew toys and foraging toys. I do have a video up that I’ll send you the link, I’m just not home at the moment. The video is in my playlist. 😁🥰
I have an African male that I’ve had for almost 7 years . I got him and a female together, after about 2 years I had to give the female away , and I’ve tried to gain trust with him but he just refuses to have anything to do with me! If I come neer he will fly to the other side of the cage or room . Why hasn’t he got use to me ? I have a green cheek and he sees me enter act with him and he loves me and does tricks and talks and flys to me wherever I am . But I can’t get my ringneck to like me or trust me, he did interact with me in the beginning, but now he does not!
If your ringneck parrot was bonded to the female it will take time. He could be depressed and stressed. Just take your time and everything you do, do it slowly and talk quietly. You can use his favourite treats to gain his trust, but only use these for this purpose. Just leave it between the bars and walk away, as he starts to trust you more you can sit near the cage and let him see you mean no harm. Hopefully in time he will take it from your hand. But this will all take time and patience.
I sleep in the room with my birds he will come out and stand on his cage door and watch me while I’m laying here on my bed, but he won’t take food from me. He will chop and make noise and tell my Conyer comes and gets the food from me and takes it to him. I put treats in his cage cage and leave and the doors are always open. I’m always in my room with him. It’s been 7 years now. I don’t think he’s ever going to forgive me. I do everything slowly, when I put my hand in the cage to get the food bowl he was stay right there he won’t move , but if I try to interact with him he will go to the other side of the cage to get away from me. It’s just weird. I talk to him and tell him how much I love him and I do love him so much he’s such a gentle bird and he’s so so beautiful, I just want to interact with him like I do with my little green cheek. Thank you so much for replying. I wish I could find him somebody that can breakthrough to him to see if he will trust I just want him to be happy
The long tail should’ve grown back by now. Was he wild or hand raised. It does take time to gain trust. Try to do everything slowly when approaching his cage. Also it’s best to keep the cage at eye level so they don’t get afraid and if you can have it in a corner. Have you tried using his favourite treats to gain his trust?
I purchased my ringneck in a pet shop almost 2 months ago. I was told he was about 3 years old. I do not know if he was owned by somebody else before. For the first 4 weeks he was scared in the cage. Now, he jumps and stays on my shoulder but hates seen my hands. He can stay on my shoulder for a long time but if he sees my hands he tries to fly and gets scared. I cannot touch him and he just make noises. No "word" at all. Any suggestion?
Thank you for rescuing him 😊. Sounds like you have bonded with him pretty quickly and gained his trust in no time. It took me 1 year for Ricco to fully trust me and allow head scratches. Just work with him slowly and continue doing what you are doing. I would always approach Ricco when he was above me on his stand or where he could see my hand coming. Whenever he would warn me I would stop and say ok and try again later or another time. Treats and foods are a great way to have them trust hands. Just allow him to go at his pace. You can also try stick training. I myself have never done it, but some say it has worked. Sounds like you are off to a great relationship. I’m sure he will trust you in no time😊
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn Thank you very much! He does not like treats too much. I just put the food in different places and he eats it when he wants. 😂 I wanted a pet and thought in adopting a dog, a cat, etc. However, my final decision was adopting a parrot. I think this is the best choice ever. Thank you again for your time and the lovely work you are doing. 😀

Author, I have a female ringneck bird in my apartment and I see that normally when she hears the sound of vacuum machine, she starts getting nervous and tensive and then starts flying around with panic scream. Have you ever faced the similar case with your bird? And also it happened that when my sweetie bird saw my spinner she also got nervous and started flying around with panic scream. Do you find it strange or is it normal? Can you explain me please?
It means she is afraid of it. My Chico was like this with many things. I would need to take him in another room whenever I vacuumed or did things that would make him afraid. It is very common for birds to be afraid of things like these, especially because they are prey birds. Other pets like dogs and cats are also afraid of unfamiliar objects. Some birds actually like the vacuum, my Ricco shows off anytime I vacuum lol, but many are afraid. I would either take her in another room or put her in her cage for safety. You don’t want her banging into anything if she is panicking. Their natural instinct is to fly to safety and being indoors they could really hurt themselves. My Ricco banged into a window when he heard a noise, he panicked and went straight for the window. Thankfully he was ok but now I always close curtains to be safe. Hope that helps you.
Hi! My male IRN is acting too flirty with me, he dances (heart shaped wings), regrutates on my shoulder (he tries on my face but I dont let him) and does little taps with his beak on my head, real mating behaviour and I dont know what to do :( I got him last year and just few months ago he started to bond with me but still wont let me touch him with hands tho he flies to me and stands on me all the time.. I dont want him to get agressive and frustrated but I cant get another bird for him to mate.. what do I do? Please help!❤️
It’s a natural thing to do for them because he has obviously picked you as his mate lol. If you’d rather he stopped so it doesn’t lead to any other issues try distracting him immediately with toys, playing with him or training. Keeping him busy during this time as well. Is it spring or is he just being hormonal because of his age? Can you give me more information on how old he is and any other information as well.
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn thank you so much! He is around 4 years old. I’m his second home. He was not tamed and I believe not really connected with his previous owner. So I was very happy when he started coming to me and dancing, giving kisses and being really sweet but I read some articles and it seems its not good for him :(
@@lea6388 Aww he definitely feels comfortable with you and bonded to you. It could simply be he’s happy in his new home or it could be from hormones due to spring, some birds become hormonal twice a year as well. Ricco is being somewhat hormonal now and it is winter here. The best thing you can do is try to discourage him and distract him. If you see it’s becoming a issue where he is looking for dark spaces and behaviours of wanting to mate try to cut down in sunlight and rich foods. I think he’s just happy with you but it could get worse if you don’t control it. Introduce him to new toys like chew toys etc to keep him busy. Hope it helps. Good luck 😊
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn thank you so much! It's winter here too, and I'm so glad he's happy but this recent behaviour is mating behavouir for sure. I'll do my best to distract him with toys and games! Thank you again for your anwers and your time! Kisses to you and Rico!
My female ringneck was showing the mating behaviour with my sister. Eg Head bowed, head tipped up, eyes pinning and a small grind/growling sound. It also looked like she was doing a little strut, almost as if limping. I only noticed her doing this when my sister was nearby, but wasn't sure if it was just when she was walking slowly. Does this sound like something they also do? She was walking, kind of dipping her head as she walked along and around my sister.
It’s difficult to say without actually seeing it. It could be one of two things, either she is claiming territory and is warning your sister or it could be she likes your sister very much. I’m on Instagram if you want to DM me the video so I can help you better 😊
It’s difficult to say. Not all birds get a long, really depends on the bird. He may have been bonded to a bird but the new bird may not except him. If you do I would highly recommend having them in separate cages to be safe .
My Indian ring neck male is 12 weeks old. He often lands on my head and hates me taking him off. He growls/ bites. Lately he has been randomly lunging and biting my face (lips) quite painfully. It’s quite upsetting. Do you have any advice or tips to stop this behaviour? Should I give in and let him stay on my head?
I’m surprised that he is displaying such an aggressive behaviour at this age. I’d definitely not allow him on your head or shoulders for that matter for now. Have you showed him that you are fearful of him when he does bite? As difficult as it may be it’s important not to show any reaction to his bites or bad behaviour, it will just in courage him to act like this more and it will get more difficult as he matures. Simply put him down and walk away to give him a time out. Diet and lack of sleep can also contribute to certain behaviours.

I have to look out for these signs, our birds haven't shown any of them... We've only had them 3 day's. Frida tends to be an investigator and Diageo an adventurer.
Hi I'm having trouble with my birds...I go into their avairy they look all happy to see me but as soon as I try put my hand or a treat near them they fly away Why is that?
How long have you had your birds for? Also have they always been like this? When you are doing any kind of movement it always needs to be done slowly. Many birds are afraid of hands and need to gain trust before they will trust you or especially your hand.
How long have you had him for? Also when you say handling do you mean step up or touching him. It all takes time and you need to build trust with a bird, it took me 1 year for Ricco to fully trust me and allow touches.
I got a ringneck but I'm scared to take it out of the cage because its quite agressive but i have a feeling his attidude will get better if i let him leave his cage, i just dont know how to make him come out without feeling scared
It does take time to build trust. Have you tried gaining his trust while he’s in the cage with treats? Also if you do decide to let him out you want to have him in a safe contained room with all mirrors, widows covered incase he panics. Also look around the room and be sure it is safe, maybe provide him something to land on as well besides his cage. Here is a video I did, hopefully it will help you a bit 👉 ruclips.net/video/jZkpu2_1iT4/видео.htmlsi=GnKKik9d3irU-Ep7
Yes Ricco is a male. Once matured they have a mating behaviour that is different as you saw in this video. I’m in the process of doing a upgraded video on how to tell the difference between them, but it may take me a couple of weeks because I’m still working on another video. When they are young they will sometimes do both behaviours, so sometimes it’s difficult to tell.
Is she showing any other symptoms as well? Also how long has she been doing this for. If you are on Facebook you can post questions in a group called parrots first aid group that is very helpful and free. Only the admin can answer and help you. I’ll do my best to help you, but if you are worried she is so sick the Facebook page would be the best page to post for now.
@@dhwanisharma1034 If she is only doing it while she is sleeping it could be her just relaxing, but if it’s happening otherwise I’d be concerned. I’d still keep an eye on her to make sure she is ok. I always paranoid about everything. I hope she is ok .
I have a tamed ring neck he is 1yrs old and hes always hanging upside down in his cage and cleaning himself up and he always wants to come out but when i do let him out he goes on my coat hanger and just sits there or goes on the side of my beg and just chills or sometimes chills on my shoulder
Learning a lot from your tutorials, TY, but I still cant find the answer of why my Sun Conure screams every time I get up and leave, I come back and he stops, I can’t go anywhere without him screaming. 😮
Believe it or not this is how they train us lol. Birds will usually scream for a reason, sounds like he is screaming for your attention because he looks at you as part of his flock. I always recommend just answering him so he can hear you but don’t run back to him, by continuing to do so he will learn that if he screams you will come running. Is he full flighted?
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn no he is only 7 months but I was told that they clipped him to young and when he tires to fly he lands on his butt, so it makes his tail break off🥲
Do you mean regurgitation? I have a part 2 video that explains it. The link is in the description to this video. If you can’t find it I’ll give you the link.

A am a future beginner and in love with Ring neck! I will totally commit to learning . Should I start with Ring neck !??
It really depends what you are looking for, they are definitely not for everyone and can be difficult for some.
If you haven’t already you may want to watch my video I did on Expectations of owning a Ringneck parrot VS Reality and what you see on social media. After watching the video I’d also recommend reading all the comments and go on Facebook pages or parrot forums to get other opinions and experiences. If you are willing to put in the work and have no expectations of them, they just might be the right fit for you, but do as much research first beforehand.

What it is the best way to get them tame and to try get them out of the cage I know it takes a while but do you think

@@qazali5744 that’s amazing, such great news. I would keep his favourite foods and don’t feed him those, keep those for only training. Is he on a all seed diet or pellets as well? Does he eat vegetables and fruits? I keep walnuts and almonds as treats only for Ricco.

Hello, i was wondering would i be able to use this video as a presentation example video in my assignment?
Im studying teaching and part of that is presenting a mock presentation of teaching people about animal body language (since my main qualification is in animal studies)
I need a video similar to yours to show as part of the presentation.

Ive had my ringneck for about 6 month, hes still scared when anyone goes near him.. when we got him he didnt have his long tail, will it grow back?
The long tail should’ve grown back by now. Was he wild or hand raised. It does take time to gain trust. Try to do everything slowly when approaching his cage. Also it’s best to keep the cage at eye level so they don’t get afraid and if you can have it in a corner. Have you tried using his favourite treats to gain his trust?
Hope this also helps 👉 ruclips.net/video/jZkpu2_1iT4/видео.htmlsi=D4XQM4m1ePBOJh6t
@Riccothegreenpiedirn I brought him off a breeder , personally I don't think he was hand reared

He will change , it’s Judy hormonal lol. Keep me posted 😊
What is clearing crop
Clearing crop is when they clear the food.
if my bird came from an aviary and was caged with other birds, would it be better for him if I got him a friend?

Frida tends to be an investigator and Diageo an adventurer.
Hi I'm having trouble with my birds...I go into their avairy they look all happy to see me but as soon as I try put my hand or a treat near them they fly away

How long have you had your birds for? Also have they always been like this? When you are doing any kind of movement it always needs to be done slowly. Many birds are afraid of hands and need to gain trust before they will trust you or especially your hand.
I have the same bird
How do I get my male ringneck use to me handling him he is under a year old
How long have you had him for? Also when you say handling do you mean step up or touching him. It all takes time and you need to build trust with a bird, it took me 1 year for Ricco to fully trust me and allow touches.
I've only had him for a month and he doesn't like to step up on the hand or a perch he doesn't want to on me all he does is bite

Not not sure exactly what you mean, sorry. Could you send a video to Instagram and DM me?
Is ricco a female?
Is there any difference between male and female behaviours?
Yes Ricco is a male. Once matured they have a mating behaviour that is different as you saw in this video. I’m in the process of doing a upgraded video on how to tell the difference between them, but it may take me a couple of weeks because I’m still working on another video.
When they are young they will sometimes do both behaviours, so sometimes it’s difficult to tell.
